i need the name of this song i think its from around 1980
the lyrics go like this
i came from the rough side of town
(her clothes were hand me downs)
i wanted to fall in love
black was the night before the morning
i feel another night i've never known (i have left out a few lines)
the chorus goes
baby get away, get away ,get away (repeat)
if anyone can help i would be so grateful its driving me crazy!!!

More details. Is it a rock song? Faster? Slower? R&B? Male or female singer? A band?

its an up tempo rock/new wave song i found it on an old tape of 1980 top 100 hits i have never heard this song before i found this tape it must be from around 1980-81
the female vocal sounds a bit like kim wilde or deborah harry but searching their songs brought up nothing its sounds like a group with male backing singers singing the in between lines
let me know if you get the answer and you will be a music legend!!!
:D

I have part of a song stuck in my head too.
All I have is a male singing, "I just dropped in to see the condition my condition was in."
I want to say it's from the 60s or 70s. It has that psychedelic feel to it.
Someone please: Name that tune. :music:
Sorry Jason, I don't know the answer to your music question.

The First Edition (Kenny Rogers' old 60s band) 1968 :)
Now to try that other out again...

Damn! Well, I hope somebody gets this cause it's a toughy! I looked on the top 100 songs of both 1980 & 1981. Nothing that sounded like that. I'm thinking this may've been a fairly obscure, minor hit. If that's the case, it would've fallen well out of the top 100 spots. I know Billboard counts em up to 200.
So you're *sure* it was definitely one of those 2 years, eh? No chance of it being maybe 1982 or '83 or even 1979 or '78?

You're welcome! :)
The title is pretty much what you wrote above- "I Just Dropped in (to See The Condition My Condition Was In"). Just do a Google search for 1st Edition/Kenny Rogers for the exact wording of it.
