Wow! Some very interesting and exciting changes for TV Land.

+ Additions
Carol Burnett & Friends - my favorite variety show. Can't wait!
Cheers - As soon as I saw this on the Merry and First Things First thons, I knew it was coming. Will it stay on Spike, though? (But, I am excited!)
Family Ties - Haven't seen in a while. Looking forward to this.
All in the Family - *shrug*

+ Returns
Batman - Good to see it back, if only in the Kitchen.
Shazam - See above.
Superman - See above.

+ Drops
Are there any?

That's what I was thinking. (about Gilligan's Island)
I wonder if Cheers will continue airing on Spike TV, seeing that at 7:30 you would be able to watch Cheers on both Spike and TVLand (and where I live, UPN)
But the more Cheers.... the better IMO.

And if Im reading this right.... All In The Family will still be on the weekend??

My only complaint is no Welcome Back, Kotter.
(I dont mind Gilligan's Island leaving, Im getting the DVD anyways)

So after January 16th, AITF will only be on weekends and at 4am Weeknights.

That sucks!

Well it's still more than N@N shows it.

What will replace the open N@N slots?

The weekend showings confused me because I didn't see the name of the show there. Guess I should read more carefully.

I don't think so, but it does fit. I think the Family Table block is basically 6-8 p.m. every evening. And 10 p.m. to 12 a.m. a reairing of it I believe.

I knew someone would say that. This is one of the reasons I did not post this schedule earlier. TV Land is ONLY airing Cheers and Family Ties because of the Family Table campaign. This does NOT mean any 80's sitcoms will be coming to TV Land.

This is so unfair. I knew this was eventually going to happen. Can't you guys see what's happening?! The Newer Shows are replacing the older ones. The recent hits replaced the modern tv classics on TBS in which the modern tv classics replaced the original classics on Nick at Nite and now modern tv classics are invading TV Land. Before we know, there isn't going to be a channel for the original classics. Also, I have noticed in the last few years that the number of original classics have been decreasing each year.

Man, this is just getting worse and worse. First it was TBS, then Nick at Nite, and now TV Land.

I Wouldnt say that, TV Land still airs alot of classic Older shows. Fact is Cheers and Family Ties both started around 20 years ago, They may not seem very old but they kinda are. Nick At Nite started airing Happy Days i think in 95-96, And that was 20 years after that started. So realy nothings changed except The times.

Just because Cheers and Family Ties are on you are saying that. They are only for the Family Table campaign, if you read my post. If you take those two shows out, you would not say anything (MacGyver is 80s, but then again, TV Land has always had an 80s drama it seems, example: St. Elsewhere, Hill Street Blues, and The A-Team). And modern classics coming to TV Land? Carol Burnett and All in the Family are hardly modern classics. What are Green Acres and Flip Wilson--not modern classics, that's for sure? Those are the next two shows coming later this year.

Family Ties Forever!

I wish that either TVLand would keep Family Ties and air it after the Family Table time period is over with or, have N@N air Family Ties again, at a decent hour. It deserves to be on tv.

What's with this Family table campaign? I don't understand why they can't be satisfied with The Munsters, The Brady Bunch, Happy Days and the other original classics as family shows. Why must they add "Cheers" and "Family Ties" when they already have family shows on the TV Land network? It doesn't make sense.

Also, they have acquired a lot of new shows in the passed six months such as Bonanza, Fantasy Island, I Dream of Jeannie, Bewitched, The Munsters, and Mister Ed and soon the other three shows (Carol Burnett & Friends, The Flip Wilson Show, & Green Acres. With that said, why must they add the Nick at Nite shows (AITF can be an exception) when they already have more classic shows coming?

Family Ties has not done well at all for Nick@Nite (they tried a lot of slots, even 9-10pm!), and has not been airing at all for the last three or four months, so this is a great way to bring it back I guess. TV Land is 24 hours, and Nick@Nite is not--and TV Land has fit all the shows in the schedule that you have mentioned. So Nick@Nite can not fit Family Ties and Cheers in early slots in the Family Table campaign, since Full House, Cosby Show, and Roseanne are there. What would be the point to air them after 1am and call it a Family Table slot? No one ever said Family Ties and Cheers will still be around when Flip Wilson and Green Acres comes...

Actually, they were just finishing off the Nick@Nite contract, which started in 1999. Nick@Nite aired it for a while, then TNN, and now TV Land for the final few months. TNN was the one who aired the show the most.

I know it's only for the Family Table but that's too much of "Cheers" and "Family Ties" and are you SURE it's just for the Family Table, because with the way they're scheduled it looks like a permanent new addition.

I'm glad to see "Bewitched" still on a lot but I'll miss "Lucy" and "Jeannie" from prime time (by the way "Jeannie" only has 1 airing per day! :()

Because those shows you listed are all old, stale, and just plain to watch these days. They've been on tv for so long, while shows like Family Ties has had hardly any exposure. It was completely off TV for about 4 months like pav said, and stuck in a 5am slot for over a year. It's about time it got some airplay. Cheers is on alot, but with it being on at 1:30am (And possibly gone from January) I'm glad it'll still be seen. Fact is, those shows are old and overplayed, these shows have gotten the shaft, especially Family Ties. So wait until April comes by; I'm sure they'll be gone and you'll be rejoicing.

They have aired those shows you said already. Unfortunately, their contracts expired. No shows on TV Land are on WGN or TBS (except Happy Days on WGN). And like I said before, Family Ties and Cheers are just for that Family Table block, and likely Cheers will not be on Nick@Nite and/or Spike TV come next month. And when you say UPN, meaning your local UPN. Local syndication can air anything they want really, even Mister Ed and Green Acres are in local syndication.

As for the Screen Gems deal, I'm not sure what has happened to the other Screen Gem shows, but I know Burns & Allen is doing well in that BLTT block. My bet is that they might have played the max on the air plays per show (like Father Knows Best, Hazel).

Like Original Prankster said, the above shows you listed have been in rerun syndication for a LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOONG time. TBB ended in 1974, so they've had enough years (almost 30) to be on in reruns. IMO, I'd be glad if they wouldn't run the damn shows into the ground over and over and over again. I can remember seeing ALL those shows in reruns when I was a young girl!

Carol Burnett, on the other hand, is something I'm very excited about. TCBS started in 1967 and ended in 1978, 25 years ago. They were on in reruns in the 80's, but weren't on reruns for very long in the 90's. The only thing I'm disappointed about is that they're airing TCBS in a 1/2 hour time slot and not its original 1-hour slot. That's more th an a hundred hours of programming I'll never get to see, unless they come out with all 11 seasons on DVD (and that could get costly).

Cheers and Family Ties both started in 1982, 21 years ago. So that's pretty old and IMO it has had enough time sitting around to be considered a classic in reruns. I hardly consider any of the shows on N@N classics, as more than half of them ended less than 10 years ago.

As time goes on, I'm fairly certain they're going to be taking some TV shows off, due to them being released to DVD (a la Cheers). But again, you never know.

Man, this is just getting worse and worse. First it was TBS, then Nick at Nite, and now TV Land.

My two cents.......

IMO any show that debuted more than 10 years ago, is modern to me, anything less than 10 years is not. Wings debuted in 1990, so that's 13 years. N@N is picking up Fresh Prince which debuted the same year as Wings. Now IMO N@N should air the modern stuff, and save the classics for TVLAND. Does that mean N@N shouldn't air Growing Pains or Who's the Boss(if they are going too, I don't know) because they went off the air in 1992?

I like variety myself, and IMO they need to get rid of Cheers, and Cosby show for about 6 months(I mean my gosh, you can watch Cosby on other networks, Cheers too, Roseanne as well), and air shows like I mentioned. I am glad that Family Ties is getting more exposure, IMO N@N treated it like crap.

Glad to see Adventures of Superman and Batman returning. :)

I thought I would give it some time before complaining but working till midnight TVLand was an oasis of latenight TV. Dick Van Dyke Barney Miller etc etc.

But not now . Terrible late night schedule. Mac Gyver Bonanza Fantasy Island . Yuck

I at least would have liked Dick Van Dyke to stay on overnight which it had for the last number of years.

Cheers on TV Land?

Family Ties on TV Land?

The Decline has begun.

What Next? 10 Hours of Cosby on TV Land every day?

Pav,
I'm wondering how the ratings for Family Ties are doing on TV Land? I'm hoping they are good. Perhaps if so, maybe FT can stay.

STOP BUMPING OLD THREADS AND COMPLAINING

Give it up... "Family Ties" and "Cheers" are freakin taking up 2 hours of the 24 hour day and it's from 12-2 in the morning. I'm SURE there's something else you can do during that time
