View Full Version : Ruben on TRL Czas na Zywiec 12-09-2003, 06:29 PM I wonder how much he paid the show so he could appear. David 12-09-2003, 06:37 PM lol hes on right now, trying to make everyone buy his album. im gonna get it for Christmas. but  wouldnt be sad if he didnt even sell 100,000 copies? I wonder how his video will do on TRL. Hollow 12-09-2003, 06:41 PM *screaming* WOOOOOOOOOOOOOHOOOOOOOOOOOOO OMG I LOVE YOU RUBEN IM SO EXCITED FOR A MUSIC VIDEO THAT IVE SEEN 1000000 TIMES!!!!!!!! :yourock: :woohoo: AllIWantIsYourClutch 12-09-2003, 06:50 PM His CD came out today.. I didn't buy it. And I won't buy it. Dean Winchester 12-09-2003, 08:37 PM I'm not a Ruben fan, or a Clay fan. But I really hate the way Ruben fans always slam and are so bitter that Clay's more popular than he is. Ruben had to follow the crowd and, instead of doing a Luther style album like what people have come to expect from him.... enlists and rappers and does a hip hop album. Did these people realize that while a lot of people like it, there's just as many people who DON'T? Czas na Zywiec 12-09-2003, 08:51 PM  There was a contest that they held and Ruben had to try three tacos and guess which one was from Taco Bell. After he finished, he guessed right and grabbed a towel to wipe off his sweat. I didn't know how much work it is to eat a taco. Jrnygrl 12-09-2003, 09:09 PM  :( At first I wasn't going to say anything about the way everyone here has put Ruben down, or made fun of his weight. Then I was going to put Clay down and talk about him badly. But then I thought about how much I love music, and to me that is what counts. Music is supposed to the universal communicator, and to read all the terrible things that are said here just makes me sad. I bought Clay's CD and although it is not my cup of tea, I appreciate the creativity and the hard work that went into making his dream come true. I think it is really misfortunate that those of you who are fans of Clay are behaving this way, "I didn't buy it. And won't buy it." Okay so Clay didn't win, but he won the opportunity for all of you who are his fans to be able to make music that you enjoy and to go out and buy his music. I congratulate Clay for his triumph. Why can't Ruben be given the same respect. Show what true class Clay fans have. Oh by the way, I bought the CD and it is a mix of really good music. Give it chance. peacesign: AllIWantIsYourClutch 12-09-2003, 09:17 PM Originally posted by Jrnygrl  :( At first I wasn't going to say anything about the way everyone here has put Ruben down, or made fun of his weight. I heard some songs from his CD and I dont like them. Because I don't listen to that kind of music. It's not just all about Clay. I actually would've considered buying his cd if I knew that his songs were more like what he did on AI. Jrnygrl 12-09-2003, 09:27 PM TM, we all know the music business is not a stable business, who knows next week polka music could be the new in thing. I am not a huge hip hop fan,I don't really like a lot of the music that is out there, I love old school R & B, The Beatles and I listen to a lot of classic rock, but the first three songs are close to what he did on AI. All I am really saying is why all the hating against Ruben???? Just give him a chance to have his music out there. Maybe his next CD will be close to what you wanted. :) peacesign: Ravey 12-09-2003, 09:37 PM Originally posted by Original Prankster  There was a contest that they held and Ruben had to try three tacos and guess which one was from Taco Bell. Who gives a sh-t if amy doesnt want his CD. not everyone is gonna like his music, it doesnt mean theyre ot "giving him a chance." god. I'm just someone who believe in fairness. Sorry for having an opinion. I don't think I will come back here. And I really liked this site. I know you don't care. Sorry for upsetting you. :seeya: :crying: Hollow 12-10-2003, 12:26 AM Originally posted by Jrnygrl No, I didn't even watch AI. I'm just someone who believe in fairness. Sorry for having an opinion. Dean Winchester 12-10-2003, 03:15 AM Originally posted by ~*Hannah_Lee*~ Clay had to hop on the "pop" bandwagon. what is so bandwagonesque about what Clay's doing? Isn't he in the Josh Groban vein? Not exactly the same way of selling himself out to be "hip" (because frankly, how many teenyboppers like Josh?) as going and bringing in a rapper for every song the way someone like J. Lo did. People expected a Luther-style album from Ruben... NOT a freaking "cash in on 2003's hottest trends and will look dated in 2007" album vashti1999 12-10-2003, 03:53 PM Originally posted by BuffySlayer79 Ruben had to follow the crowd and, instead of doing a Luther style album like what people have come to expect from him.... enlists and rappers and does a hip hop album. Did these people realize that while a lot of people like it, there's just as many people who DON'T? Uh, what Ruben Studdard album are you listening to?? His cd is a typical mix of uptempo r&b and ballads. Having someone do a short rap on two of the 14 tracks doesn't exactly qualify it as a "hip hop album". You say that you're not a fan so maybe actually listening to the cd would help before commenting on it. And how exactly did you become an expert on Ruben's potential audience and know "what people have come to expect from him"? AllIWantIsYourClutch 12-10-2003, 07:19 PM Originally posted by ~*Hannah_Lee*~ Clay had to hop on the "pop" bandwagon. Well....kind of. Ruben and Clay sang pretty much the same types of songs on AI. Yeah, but they both need to experiment with their sounds. I guess that's what Ruben was doing. I haven't heard any of Clay's stuff, but I'm sure he will experiment with his sound a little too. They are probably the best pop acts out there, I mean they actual got to where they were because of talent and not looks or anything. I know what you mean, but I think part of the reason that Ruben doesnt seem to be as popular as Clay is because he experimented right away... ~*Hannah_Lee*~ 12-11-2003, 11:48 PM Originally posted by TradingMooses Exactly. They're big sweethearts, which makes them so adorable. I love the fact that they are such good friends, despite it all. ¤I Love Clay Aiken¤ 12-15-2003, 12:38 PM Originally posted by ~*Hannah_Lee*~ Clay had to hop on the "pop" bandwagon. Because 'pop' is what he did on the show, and 'pop' is what hes good at. Sorry, but I cant picture Clay headbanging or rapping about a girls apple bottom. On the subject of Ruben, no I did not buy his CD nor do I intend to. I was never a fan of his, nothing having to do with being a 'Clayniac'. |
