View Full Version : Which shows were colorized?
I really want to now what shows were colorized. I know the Christmas episode was. If other episodes, or at least some parts of it, were colorized, I would like to aquaire them. Does anybody know when and how long these shows were out, if they are. Thanks for any information.
Lodee 01-06-2004, 05:22 PM I think I read somewhere that the Hollywood At Last episode was colorized. I don't think it's for sale though. I think they showed it in Jamestown during Lucy-Desi days or something. Also, the Babalu video has some colorization at the end.:)
Lodee 01-07-2004, 03:45 PM Just for the record, I AM NOT A BIG FAN OF COLORIZING! :D
Larry Surrell 01-07-2004, 08:32 PM I have read on a few DVD Easter Eggs sites that there's a hidden colorized episode on disc 1 of the I Love Lucy DVD Collector's Edition. The websites all claim that disc 1 is the one with "Cuban Pals", "The Freezer", "Lucy Does a TV Commercial" and "The Publicity Agent" on it. However, those episodes are on disc 8 of my set which are the Paramount DVDs.
You're supposed to highlight "Play All" and press the "1" key on your DVD player to play the colorized episode, but that didn't work for me. I have yet to find a hidden colorized episode on disc 1, disc 8 or any other I Love Lucy Season 1 Paramount DVD.
They may have been refering to the Columbia House DVDs.
SPLAIN 01-08-2004, 02:35 PM Or some money hungry exec is spreading the rumor so these people can keep milking the show for more millions. LOL!
Lodee 01-08-2004, 04:25 PM I think that's an urban legend. Didn't Tom Watson talk about that rumor in one of his newsletters. I might go try it though just to make sure.:)

I know.;) That's why I felt the need to clarify.:)
SPLAIN 01-09-2004, 03:26 PM So, does that mean you WANT me to send you the Christmas show in color, or not? I know lots of my Michigan friends loved seing it in color!
Lodee 01-09-2004, 05:23 PM Hey maybe my French Canadian friends can get together with your Michigan friends and watch it! Or do I detect a hint of sarcasm? I bet you don't even HAVE any Michigan friends!
SPLAIN 01-10-2004, 07:42 PM I do too, Jen of the famous trio of Sherry Jen and Mel is from Michigan, but i haven't heard from her in ages and really miss her! Jen could liven up any discussion of Lucy and gary, among many others.

The Jen on John's board is an Aussie; not the one I was thinking about. But we never know; there are so many double personalities around
:D

SPLAIN 01-12-2004, 12:13 PM No, i can count her, because she went BACK i heard!
Lodee 01-12-2004, 10:18 PM Sorry! I'm gonna need a little more proof than that! ;) "she moved back I heard" <-- what is that?? LOL!
SPLAIN 01-13-2004, 12:36 PM She moved back, i heard, from someone close to her, is that better?

Yes, the colorized bit is on the Season 1 Columbia House Collector's Edition. They stopped it on the Season 2 ones for some reason. Anyhow, it is not an episode. It is the full Lucy theme song with words with a montage of the famous clips. Those clips are colorized. It is beautiful and worth getting the intro dvd for 4.99 just to have that. This is the same montage that was in the CBS special that aired the night Lucy died.
The only other colorized I Love Lucy that I can personally confirm is the Christmas Episode. They aired it on CBS around 1990 and I have it on tape. Surprisingly, looks really nice.
SPLAIN 01-15-2004, 03:57 PM Yes it is, '91 though i think.

He's talking about a hidden colorized episode, not the clip.

You have to go through some sequence to get to it. Or so they say. I don't think it really exists though.
SPLAIN 01-28-2004, 02:57 PM It's just nice to see them in color for a change.
