A-Rod for Manny Ramirez...If this deal goes down, the Sox have got to be the favorite to win it all next year.

Boston should keep Nomar. A-Rod is OVER-RATED!!! As a Seattle Mariner fan, I'm still so glad he left! He "ain't no" MVP in my book, just an overpaid bozo. This isn't sour-grapes because he left Seattle, it's that there are so many more players out there who are just as good or better than him, including NOMAR.
You really want the best player in baseball, get Barry Bonds or Albert Pujols, even Jim Edmonds.

What will happen to the rest of the $250 million dollar money he signed or what's left of it!!??

Haha, come on now, folks...that's like saying that you don't want Shaq on your team. Love or hate him, A-Rod IS the premier player in baseball. The Red Sox just have to think about whether they want to take the whole of A-Rod's titanic deal AND cover part of Manny's not-so-small money.

nomars being annoying, like I would keep him if the price was right, but what it comes down to it is Nomar claims he wants to staying Boston but he has turned down a multiple year deal, one 15 million a year, hes not going to get Jeter money, nor does he deserve that, so I dont know what his deal is!


Also, I like Nomar, hes a good playr, but I think A-Rod is better, and younger, and a lot stronger defensivly

A-Rod is far from being overrated...He's the best player in baseball...maybe second only to Barry Bonds.

The thing is, this whole A-rod fiasco has really hurt Nomar's feelings. He just might leave via free agency after this year even if they don't get A-Rod.

If nomar loves boston as much as he says he does, then i think he'll stay. he's friends with his teamates. i think he'll stay. i hope he stays.

i just don't like this deal because in a batting lineup, would you rather have just one awesome player or two good players?

The problem is, if you do get him, the Sox are a win now team. If they don't win this year, all that money you pay A-rod is going to prevent you from signing some of your free agents next year and also prevent you from signing other free agents as well. $25 mil a year is nothing to sneeze at.

I wonder how much they would pay A-Rod?? Less than the $252 million last three years ago!!

Even though I would be surprised if this trade still went through, I don't see how you can say the Red Sox aren't also thinking of the future. Wouldn't you want to have the greatest player in baseball and arguably the greatest shortstop ever on your team during the prime of his career? And Maggs is no old fart either. On the other hand, you have Manny, who only puts out when he feels like it, and is sub-par defensively at best. Hmmm...A-Rod and Maggs or Manny...that's a tough one there. :rolleyes:

I dont understand why everyone keeps saying that its Nomar and Manny for just Arod, because its not like Nomar's going to Texas, they are going to get something in return, in the case if the deal ends up through its Maggs from the White Sox, a right fielder, who is very good (yankees tried to get him a few times) and so thats not Nomar + Manny for Arod...its for Arod and Maggs

ARod + Maggs > Nomar + Manny

If the deal can get done, I say do it! Also, right now I say the chance of nomar returning is very slim because he wants Jeter money and thats not possible because 1) Jeter was overpaid and 2) look at the market right now, players arent getting paid that kind of money, as well Nomar's feelings towards Boston have changed prob. and were hurt, all that in consideration, I dont think he will resign with Boston, but if he does, it will surprise me but I have seen crazier things happen.

As a Yankee fan, I don't want to see that deal go down, but if it does it is a great deal for Boston.

Yankees are my favorite team as well and is the only baseball team I kind of keep up on!!

I have to agree with this statement. I am going to be mad if the Rangers get Manny Ramirez. I cannot stand that guy.

Good News: Boston would give A-Rod a chance at the World Series.

Bad News: Boston will have the pay the rest of the huge $250 million dollars he signed in 2000 with the Rangers!!

Ok, I admit it, this trade will never die, no matter how many deadlines there are.

It looks like the Rangers owner got desperate and was practically giving A-rod away and Boston said no way.

I'll bet White Sox fans are relieved. :D But there are going to be some rather unhappy players (and fans) as a result of this. Millar sure has a big mouth. ;)

:lol: I was just thinking about that. What about Manny? First he's put on waivers then they tried to trade him. He must feel wanted.
