Does anyone remember the case that involved a woman who went to the bank and when she went back to her car there was a man in the back seat. He forced her to drive to the drive up window to get money. Afterwards, she crashed her car in to some parked cars. When she got out of the car, she said "he stabbed me." Two guys in the area saw the killer who fled into the night. That was one of the saddest cases I saw. What was the woman's name and where and when did this happen? It's been a long time since I've seen that

I barely remember the case except that the victim was an advocate for the disadvantaged and helped alot of troubled people. It was ironic that she should be murdered. Witnesses saw a man running from her car. Don't know if it was solved. Very very sad case.

The woman's name was Gretchen Burford and she was a defense lawyer for the disadvantaged. I have that segment on tape, and everytime I watch it, I get a sick feeling because that murder was so unnecessary and wrong. Gretchen was an innocent person who was going about her day and she went to the atm machine and that murderer hid in the back seat of her car and ended up killing her cold blooded before he fled. I don't know if that case was ever solved, I think it happend some time during the late eighties.

This case has never been solved, sadly.

This segment was one of the more scary stories that UM has shown. It is because of this segment, actually, that I always make sure to lock my car. And at night, I always look in my back seat before entering my car also. This case freaked me out too much to think otherwise.

One of the things that makes this case so sad is that the killer will probably never be caught. The two witnesses only saw him for a few seconds before he ran off into the night. The killer did leave his hat behind and he threw the butcher knife in the driveway of a nearby house, but there was no other evidence to help locate him.

Because of UM and a few of their stories, I never go to an ATM in the evening. I vividly remember the case of the fellow who wanted to deposit his paycheck at an atm at night and he was murdered. The camera caught his face and his killers face in the frame yet he was found dead and the killer never found.

Was that the one where the body was found at the bottom of a canyon in Los Angeles?

Yup, I remember that case.

As everyone else said, so sad and so unnescessary. Here is this woman, dedicating her law practice to help the disadvatanged and she's so brutally murdered.

Maybe it was a disgrunteled former client of hers? Maybe the murderer was infatuated w/her and she gently but firmly told him no, he didn't like it so he killed her like that, to make the appearance of a random act? Who knows. Maybe some of her clients had some severe problems w/reality, drugs, personnal relationships, etc...

So sad...Let's hope that her killer(s) is found, and if not found yet that karma will take care of him in a tragic way.
