i was looking at someone's AIM profile and it just said:
I can't believe I found a pink stapler (that's my SN)'s Picture here
HAHAHA
with a link to www.buddypicture.net so i went there. now a few weeks ago leah posted a thread about something similar, where some profiles said "whoaaa... click here" and it'd go to www.talkstocks.net and it asks you if you want to install something, and if you say no something comes up that says "you have to click YES." i went to the buddypicture thing and it was the exact same page... so is it a virus or something??

In this order:
Spybot Search & Destroy http://www.safer-networking.org/
http://download.com.com/3000-2144-10122137.html?part=104443&subj=dlpage&tag=button
AdAware home http://www.lavasoftusa.com/
download from: http://download.com.com/3000-2144-10045910.html?part=69274&subj=dlpage&tag=button
you may have to run them several times if you still can't get rid of it get HijackThis! (http://mjc1.com/mirror/hjt/)
there are instructions on that page to scan and create a log, there is also a good guide here (http://www.spywareinfo.com/~merijn/htlogtutorial.html) for what is good or bad, or you can post the results on the http://www.spywareinfo.com/forums/ for help removing the nasty stuff
