There was a Family Ties episode where either Skippy or Alex was on a date and they were extremely nervous. They were so nervous that they got tongue-tied and everything they said came out totally unintelligable. The date took place in a restaurant possibly an Italian pizzeria. It could possibly be episode 55. "Don't Kiss Me, I'm Only the Messenger." Where Skippy is on a date with a girl and she goes for Alex instead.

That is right!! The girl's name is Jane and is one of Mallory's friends. Skippy is the nervous one that get tongue tied. Alex comes with them on their date as a courtesy to Skippy, but Jane really has a crush on Alex. Alex would never get nervous and tongue tied on a date!!
