Whenever I really like a show, I make a "what if list about it. Here's the one for FOL.

1. What if the show had kept on going like first season?

2. What if they had kept one of the first season girls instead of bringing in Jo?

3. What if they had kept one of the other girls instead of keeping one of the ones they kept? (Sorry, that might be confusing. What if they had kept Nancy, Sue Ann, Cindy, or Molly instead of Blair, Natalie, or Tootie.)

4. What if Jo had been there the first season?
(Episodes I'd have liked to see her in: The Return of Mr. Garret, I.Q., Flash Flood, Overachieving.)

5. What if Mrs. Garrett had stayed the whole run? (I'd have liked to see her in the Australia episodes, The Little Chill, The First Time (although I didn't see it), Less than Perfect, and the final episode.)

6. What if Jo had met Mr. Bradley?
(I would love to hear what she had to say to one of his sexist remarks!)

7. What if the casting was different?
(Can you imangine Lisa playing Jo, or Nancy playing Blair, Mindy playing Tootie, or Kim playing Natalie?)

8. What if we had actually SEEN Roger?
(Just a thought!)

9. What if Mrs. Garrett had met Pippa?

10. What if one of the four girls had left?
(Would the show had sailed without all four of them?)

1: The show wouldn't have lasted if they kept everyone from the first season. They wouldn't be able to afford paying all of those cast members for 9 years.

2: They could have kept Nancy, but the other girls couldn't have stayed. They weren't that interesting.

3: As I said, the other first season girls weren't interesting enough to keep them in the series.

4: Jo would have fit into the first season, but that means that Mrs. G would be left to watch 8 teenage girls??? Too much!

5: Even though Beverly Ann wasn't very good, Mrs. G couldn't have stayed on for another 3 years. Her character showed signs of aging by the 4th season.

6: Jo and Mr. Bradley doesn't sound like good entertainment. Jo was never good with Mr. Harris or Mr. Parker either.

7: I think that that characters and actress matched up perfectly.

8: If we had kept Nancy, Roger would have come out sooner or later. i would have liked to see how he proposed to her, and how he got her pregnant!

9: Mrs. Garret and Pippa sounds something like Batman and Robin if you ask me. They would have been good together.

10: I think that Jo should have sailed off in the late Edna's Edibles years. I would have liked to see her crash in a motorcycle accident or something.

That would of provided GOOD entertainment actually...

Yep, Jo certainly dwindled away into backround oblivion by then... but they should of really stopped the show at the end of the 6th season anyway...

very true! I mean it did get a tad more funnier with the girls being able to swear and not being so tied down by mrs. g, but they got that all in the 5th and 6th seasons just fine.. i think it would have sailed perfectly fine if they wouldn't have changed the shop and all.. as soon as they turned the show into 80's style it all went downhill from there.. the all wooden house was just beautiful and perfect for everything... as soon as Over Our Heads went up the show took on a different, and certainly a not so "facts of life", feel to it...

I wouldn't want Jo to leave! She's the best character I think!

Jo: Do you know what this means? I never have to hear you breath again!
Blair:And I never have to look at your ugly face again!

Blair:We worked at Edna's Edibles, the finest store in all the land.
Jo:Blair, you're talking like a leprechaun.

Jo:Ferra, you're melting my toothbrush!
