1970's for sitcoms like Good Times, All in the Family, Thee's Company and the Jeffersons?

I know there were not any for Three's Company for a fact. I think The Brady Bunch had teaser scenes though.

You know this is a question we may never know the answer to because most of us were not around to know if All in the Family had teasers. Or any other 70's sitcom. Plus teasers would never be on a DVD or Columbia House Tapes.

I have original ABC airings from seasons 6 to 8. And unedited episodes from seasons 3, 4 and 5 -- and they do not have any. A person I know also has season 2 unedited, and they also do not have any.

UNEDITED and Original ABC Airings? Pav have you ever been into tape trading? Because I would really like to see Jack's phone scene with CHrissy.

The unedited episodes are from overseas I think. I believe Israel, I got them in a trade a few years back. I also have the first 15 Three's a Crowd episodes, 13 of which are from Israel too. Thanks to TJ for those! I do not have the time to make copies right now, but PM me and I will give you an email address on who has these as well.

Sadly.

Why would teasers never be on DVD's if they are supposedly on there UNCUT?

Oh I didn't think they would bother putting teasers on a DVD.

Teasers, are IMO, funny parts of the show and are critical. Cutting them out is like cutting out the whole point of the show, to be funny.

Not many shows have them anyway. Only older sitcoms I can think of are Welcome Back, Kotter and The Brady Bunch. Recent shows, from the 90s, usually had them.

Yes... that's what I thought, that's why I never found it unusual to see 70s sitcoms with no teasers.

But usually teasers have nothing to do with the episode. I know all the Fresh Prince Teasers never had anything to do with the episode. Same thing with Family Matters. The Famly Matters Teasers were usually Steve Urkel doing something to upset Carl and ended with Steve saying-DID I DO THAT. and then right after that the opening credits would start.

Yes... but I like them, because they are funny scenes.

Welcome Back Kotter teasers were pointless. Kotter jokes and Julie fake laughs after the joke. Waste of time if you ask me.

I think a lot of teasers may be fillers... to kill time. No teaser-shorter show, more commericals.

of all the 70s shows that I remember, the only one that I remember having them was "Welcome Back, Kotter". And I remember, the pilot episode of "The Bob Newhart show" had one-just like "WBK", though, it had nothing to do with the plot of the show, it was just Bob talking on the phone to a patient and the audience laughing. (Bob Newhart used to do "phone routines" sometimes in his appearances on variety shows and things, and sometimes on his comedy albums)

I know that there were teasers for a few seasons of The Waltons. The one I remember best was from the 1978-79, or seventh, season, particularly the "Day of Infamy" episode. The teaser featured Jim-Bob and Elizabeth walking up to the sign outside the church. After that, the opening credits came. (The scene was repeated after that, tho'.)

As to another show that's been mentioned, The Brady Bunch, I don't ever recall any teasers used for that show. (Wait, did Nick(ed) at Nite cut them out?)

And when the pilot episode of "MASH" first aired, they had a short, 1 minute one-I have the tape of the pilot, & I counted during the "teaser"-that shows Hawkeye & Trapper playing golf, Frank & Hot Lips in, I think, the mess tent, reading the bible, Col. Blake and his "scrub nurse" in his tent, opening a bottle of champange, Fr. Mulcahey asleep in front of his tent, and Radar and Spearchucker tossing a football back and forth. Radar catches the ball, then turns and looks up, Spearchuker runs up, and says:

Spearchucker: "What is it?"

Radar: "Wait a minute." (points up) "There-Choppers" (goes running off) "CHOPPERS!"

Technically if we are talking about teasers before the opening credits, the only ones I can think of from the 60's and 70's are:

WKRP in Cincinnati
Welcome Back, Kotter
I Dream of Jeannie
Bewitched
My Mother the Car
The Munsters
Gidget
Get Smart(???)

The Brady Bunch teaser always occurred AFTER the opening credits, never before and I have never seen a teaser cut out.

"The Nanny" has teasers that usually do have something to do with the plot. But I think in most cases, teasers are just there to help new viewers get acquianted with the show's characters.
