Who saw A Charlie Brown Christmas this week? After 38 years, it's still a holiday classic. I enjoy the opening song Christmas Time is Here and Charlie Brown and Linus picking up that forlorn little tree. I didn't like the parts when CB got tormented and laughed at by the girls. That wasn't very nice. But my favorite part is when the gang decorates the tree and shouts the greatest moment in TV holiday specials "MERRY CHRISTMAS CHARLIE BROWN!"
As for the holiday sketches that aired for the rest of the hour, I thought it was nothing but filler material.

The sketches were completely unnecessary and mostly incoherent. The original "A Charlie Brown Christmas" is a classic - a classy classic! The sketches showed little of the keen wit of the lat, great Charles Schulz. Now I understand that ABC is airing an all-new "Peanuts" Christmas special next Tuesday! Why am I getting a queasy feeling in my gizzard?

Charles Schulz once tried to get a job at the Disney studios when he was a struggling cartoonist, but didn't get one. He later felt that he was lucky not to have to be working in Uncle Walt's "factory" creating ideas without being able to take credit for them. Also, when Disney named the seven dwarfs in "Snow White" (no, those names were not from the original fairy tale), one named considered but dropped was. . . "Snoopy."
Today Disney-owned ABC is the keeper of the "Peanuts" flame. Oh, the irony!

I'm glad he didn't go Disney, because he left his own legacy behind.
I have seen it several times, own it, love it! It is a must have.

I love the "Charlie Brown Christmas", too! I missed it this year though. I like the part where Lucy and the girls tell him to get an artificial tree painted pink. It's such a sixties thing!

Or, how about that eppiphanial scene where Charlie Brown realizes he has pantephobia?
CHARLIE BROWN: "What's pantephobia?"
LUCY: "The fear of everything."
CHARLIE BROWN: "THAT'S IT!!!!!" ;)
