I think we should review every episode of Cheers.
The obvious place to start.... the pilot.

On a scale of 1 to 10 what did you REALLY think of 001 - Give Me A Ring Sometime ??

I give it a 7.5.
It would have been a perfect episode.... if the characters of Norm and Carla were more like the later episodes.

You can tell by their voices alone that they were new to the characters, not quite comfortable. But by the end of the episode.... everything fit.

For a pilot?

You guys a 10.

Have you seen some of the pilot episodes for the shows out there??? They usually suck, Cheers has the best pilot episode I have ever seen. The chemistry was there right from the start, and that usually doesn't happen in tv shows.

For a pilot.... it was perfect.
No other pilot has ever been this good.

Usually a character or 2 is missing, and the set is different.
And its basically just an introduction to characters.

But this was by far the best.

a 10 definately. The episode went over and really showed you the personalities of each character. Entertaining, funny, a great start to a long successful sitcom.:)

I think for a regular episode it would have to be an 8 but for a pilot i would definately say that it is a 10.

Oh, yeah! I agree, Maria! Cheers was definitely the best pilot ever because, from the very beginning, everything was perfect. The characters, the set...nothing changed! This show was just meant to be! :D

Yeah, it was great for pilot.. but I wouldn't give it ten for the simple reason I don't think it deserves that compared to other Cheers episodes...

If it were comparing to other pilots... then I'd probably give it a ten. haha I don't think that makes much sense :p

Other pilots are really confusing.

The push the characters into situations.... as if we are already supposed to know who they are and how they will interact.

But Cheers was ingenious -- that they introduced a character in the pilot, and that all characters interacted with eachother.
And with the introduction of Diane -- the characters introduces themselves to eachother (and the audience as well)

I think it was perfect.
One of the best of the season.
Everything fit (except for Norm's "yo miss, what ya readin, a book?.... that seemed very out of character to actually care what was going on around him).... perfectly.

for a pilot.... 10/10
in comparison to all other episodes.... 8.5/10

Now lets review "Sam's Women"

in the first few eps (ep 1 and 3, The Tortelli Tort), Norm and Carla seem to have a closer relationship than later ("Normie babe", etc), but thats about all thats diff.
