Another Canadian trader got turned into the MPAA and has been forced to shut down his trading! I'd highly recommend that if you are a Canadian and have a website to take it down NOW! :(

View Full Version : Warning to Canadian traders with websites!!!!! Agent 13 12-03-2003, 12:31 AM Another Canadian trader got turned into the MPAA and has been forced to shut down his trading! How does the MPAA, or anyone else, know if any given website that they visit is run by a Canadian or not? Agent 13 12-03-2003, 12:32 PM Originally posted by lazygrae ???? How does the MPAA, or anyone else, know if any given website that they visit is run by a Canadian or not? The trader in question had a Canadian email account (i.e. http://johndoe.ca/html). (Notice the "ca" in the address.) By the way, the other two Canadians that recently got into trouble with the MPAA either had a Canadian email account and/or were bold about being Canadian, not realizing the fact that tape trading is now illegal in their country. These traders more than likely were turned in by a disgruntled trader. As in the case of Terry Hoknes, a big time tape trader/seller, he didn't have a Canadian email address. He was set up by an undercover policeman. From what I understand, the MPAA investigates all accusations submitted to their site, but especially those that practice in countries where it is against the law specifically. tvroxxers 12-05-2003, 09:24 AM Regardless of who is taking these sites down and going after traders from Canada, it seems apparent that this is happening. It doesn't matter if it is the MPAA or not, the fact of the matter is that people in Canada are being shut down. This doesn't bode well for the future of tape trading. |
