I've watched UM since the first season when I was 10 years old. I'm glad I found this site. Besides the cases others have mentioned, I've never forgotten these two segments.

The first one aired during either the first or second season. This teenaged girl was riding on the back of her friend's motorcycle and a group of people came behind them and hit the girl on the back of her head with a board. She had a hard time speaking because the impact of the board striking her head gave her brain damage. I remember lots of the kids UM interviewed said they knew who did it, but they were afraid to speak out. Does anyone remember this? I haven't seen the segment since it first aired.

The second was a woman who disappeared in from Louisiana in 1976. Her purse was found in Lake Ponchartrain. Has this one been solved?

I remember the first case you mentioned about the girl hit with the board while on the back of a motorcycle. I'm really surprised if no progress has been done on that case because it is solvable!!
Many kids knew who had done it and none came forward. Amazing.

The other case I'm not sure of.

The girl that was riding on the motorcycle who was hit with a board was Jennifer Pratt. As far as I know there's no update, even the boyfriend himself said who it was then recanted so I imagine even the people who know who did it, are afraid to say anything.

The second story was about a woman named Mary Ann Perez. Her car was found at a bar where she had been that night. Her body was never found but a serial killer and his wife later admitted to killing someone that police are sure was Mary Ann Perez. The twist was that years later the family got phone calls saying Mary Ann was alive and needed their help. I think this was a sick joke. It seems the serial killer theory is the most believable and he had details the police seemed to believe.
