Seeing Husker Du and Gang of Four, along with Merle Haggard (must have been rough in school with that name).
Still, the rankings are a little off, but hell, I am ever satisfied with anything?

:clap A title much deserved.
Brad Russ 11-30-2003, 04:29 PM I just saw there top 500 a few days ago, and wasn't too pleased with it overall! I was actually going to post this subject today, but you beat me to it. Just kidding, I'm not mad. Anyway, I thought the top 20 was pretty good, but many of the picks from 500, to 100 just did not belong on the list in my view. I was very happy though to see The Beach Boys at number 2, (Finally getting the credit they deserve), Carole King's Tapestry album at 17, or 18, (much deserved), and to see Tracy Chapman's self entitled album make the list. Unfortunately Tracy was somewhere in the 250 range, while some albums that weren't nearly as good, ranked better. I think her debut cd should have atleast made the top 100 without a doubt! All I can say is that my top 500 would have looked much much different, but hey, I'm no expert.
I was also surprised that Nirvana, and Pearl Jam didn't rank higher on the list! For Nirvana, a group that basically defined a generation, I would have expected them to rank waaaay higher!! I was expecting them to be in the top 20 atleast, but I don't think they even cracked the top 50. And is it just my imagination, or did Jimmy Hendrix not fair too well? Maybe I just missed him, and need to look at the list again, but I don't recall seeing much from him on their list.

Nirvana came in at #17. I was REALLY surprised Nevermind came in that low.... I was about to bet my left arm it was going to be in the top 5.

Oh, so Nirvana did make the top 20 huh? Geez, I need to get my eyes checked or something. But yeah, with all the acclaim and praise that album got, I was guessing it would probably be in the top 5 as well. I was also surprised that their Unplugged album didn't do better. That one was hugely popular as well.
Is Don Johnson's "Heartbeat" album on the list?
;)
*Marilyn Monroe* 11-30-2003, 06:42 PM Eminem is on there three times. This is too much.

#17 isn't bad, it was the only album to come out after 1980 to be in the top 20.

Wonderful folk album, with some really sharp, evocative songs. The best ones? "Time Has Told Me," "Three Hours," "Day Is Done," "The Thoughts of Mary Jane."
When the day is done
Down to earth then sinks the sun
Along with evertything that was lost or won
When the day is done.

 I didn't know Mick, Keef, Ron, and Charlie were part of the committee to decide which records were to be included in the list. I'm sure if they were, then "Exile on Main Street" and "Let It Bleed" would be at #1 and #2, respectively.
What really sucks is that there are no Iron Maiden albums on here.
Steve M. 12-14-2003, 01:00 PM Family's A Song For Me and Fearless belong on this list too. Alas, the former didn't chart and the latter got up to only number 177, so no one here noticed them very much. But hey, at least Nick Drake is here! ;)
