View Full Version : Odd Couple Marathon is 20 favorites of Tony Randall
dlemond 11-27-2003, 03:30 PM From the WPIX website:
Join WB11 this Saturday, Nov. 29 from Noon to 10pm, where your host, the real Tony Randall, will play you his 20 favorite episodes with a little narration before each one.
I expect to see Password and The Songwriter.
Ya know, I had so many things I had to do today, but now nothing is going to get done.
I can't miss this marathon.
;)
dlemond 11-29-2003, 04:13 PM How awesome is this?
I even got the episode I missed with You Saved My Life.
I'm missing Password right now, so maybe I should go.
I am now convinced "Odd Couple" is the best sitcom of the 1970's.
Pure genius!
dlemond 11-29-2003, 09:38 PM I've had a goof and it wasn't my fault- I walk into the room and the record light is off. No one touched the machine, I wonder if it just was freaking out for taping for so long.
Anyway, I missed the beginning of The Flying Felix- the intro and the credits- not bad for 10 hours of taping switching them every 2 hours (SP mode).
Anyone get a good copy of that episode?
Why isn't this show on DVD?
"The Odd Couple" is the textbook example of the perfect sitcom.
It's got great writing, and arguably the best comedy duo (Tony Randall and Jack Klugman) ever to set foot in front of a TV camera.
I want the show on DVD!
;)

I blame you.
You are most likely the reason the show is not on dvd.
No, I'm sorry. I guess I'm just getting a little emotional.
Hell, I can't think of any rational reason it isn't on dvd, so I guess I'm just lashing out.
Now get it out on dvd right now you stupid bastards!!
musicradio77 11-30-2003, 01:55 PM I saw half from the marathon last night.
Nanny Fine 11-30-2003, 03:37 PM Thanks to dlemond I get to see this show again :)
I can't wait :)
sinatrastar 12-03-2003, 05:19 PM Odd couple is on every great while in my area. Or is it on the entire WB network? I wouldnt think one station would have Randall host a marathon.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't think any episodes involving Gloria were shown.
Some of the best Felix episodes involved his attempts to win back his ex.
Hopefully they'll be in the next marathon...
Brian Damage 12-04-2003, 12:03 PM It said in the NY Daily News yesterday that the Odd Couple marathon was #1 in the ratings for that 10 hour block.
dlemond 12-04-2003, 12:09 PM That is good to know.
Now maybe they will air it at a reasonable hour instead of 2:30 am.
Brian, did you get to tape the whole marathon?

I read that too. That was great news!
With ratings like that a second marathon is probably in the works.

I missed the entire thing! I was away for the weekend and programmed my vcr to tape at least six hours of the marathon and I screwed up the time. Instead of 12pm I put 12am. I'm looking to get a couple of the episodes from that marathon.

I can help you out- just name the episodes you need.
(do you have The Flying Felix? I missed the intro!)
Where did you get the avatar from?
That was from the episode My Strife in Court- which was on during the marathon.
Brian Damage 12-05-2003, 11:47 AM My strife in court is one I need as well as the password episode.
I got this avatar from the Odd Couple Homepage.
dlemond 12-05-2003, 12:20 PM My Strife in Court is going to be on Dec 9 - this Tuesday morning/Monday night at 2:30 am.
If Password doesn't come on soon- or they somehow skip it (doubtful though) I can get it for you.
Can you help me with The Flying Felix if they don't air it?
Brian Damage 12-05-2003, 12:21 PM Which one is Flying Felix?
dlemond 12-05-2003, 12:45 PM The one where Felix is afraid to fly to Houston where he has a job and Oscar goes with him. At the end they are on a flight that turns out to be full of skydivers who are jumping over Houston.
Lady T 12-06-2003, 06:21 PM I would love to see The Odd Couple Again..I enjoy watching the show when it aired on TV Land a couple years back...
Brian Damage 12-06-2003, 10:29 PM I don't think I have it on tape.
dlemond 12-06-2003, 11:25 PM That's ok Brian, I'm sure they will air it again.
Remember to set your vcr Monday night before you go to bed to tape at 2:30- that is the "Assume" episode.
Brian Damage 12-07-2003, 11:47 AM Thanks, I will.

Brian Damage 12-10-2003, 07:56 PM I just need the Password episode.
gohan1996 12-11-2003, 02:28 PM You
got it
Moonlight Lady 12-15-2003, 01:36 PM That's what kills me about living up here in the Albany area.
when we first moved up here in the late 70's we got 5, 9 and 11 on cable, then gradually our local cable company stopped carrying them. WPIX was the last to go, last year I think.
I would've loved to have watched it. It was a great show.
