View Full Version : Screen Name Origins
Rickenbacker 11-26-2003, 07:11 PM Sorry if this was already done, but how'd you come up w/ your screen name?
I've noticed many are obvious, but a lot are more obscure. Maybe if you've got one of the obvious ones, you can say why the inspiration meant enough to you to warrant a screen name.
:)
Brian 11-26-2003, 07:14 PM Before my name I used to be BJL (My full initials) but I wanted to have a name that defined me. I chose Brian because that is my name and that is enough to define who I am.
*MIBabe03* 11-26-2003, 07:15 PM I picked my name because my nickname is Princess, and 2003 is because I graduated in 2003.
Kay Scarpetta 11-26-2003, 07:15 PM Miss Karly... Karly is my name. Well okay.... then Cheryl calls me "Miss Karly". Cheryl's like... my best grownup friend. So.. I find the name cute. So therefore, that's how it came to be :)
dandelion wine 11-26-2003, 07:17 PM I couldn't think of one when I first decided to register, but then I went with this because I'm petite, and I have insomnia.

I remember your previous name, Bonnie Rox. People kept confusing you for Laura Dickerson/BonnieLilCutiePie (For those who don't know who I'm talking about, it's a long story and I am too lazy to explain).
DianeChambers87 11-26-2003, 07:19 PM My screen name, if you don't know, is after the character Diane Chambers from Cheers. I would have made a Sam and Diane one but there was already a Sam and Diane forever...so I wanted to be more original...haha even though at the time there were five other Dianes around. Diane Chambers is one of the most insane characters ever created for tv. She walked the thin line of being in an insane asylum or in a prestigious french restaurant Dining with the best of the best, ofcourse. If you don't believe me watch an episode of Cheers from the first five seasons, and if you do believe me....watch an episode anyway...it's good for the mind + soul.
fr00ti 11-26-2003, 07:25 PM Well, my name is Madelyn and Mads is my nickname that my friends here at SO gave me. :D

Yep that's correct. I'm just glad that it's over with.
Babes_Cat 11-26-2003, 07:57 PM Nickname.
pandora_spocks 11-26-2003, 08:15 PM I think my screen name is one of the more obvious sn's if you happen to be a fan of Bewitched and/or Elizabeth Montgomery. Pandora Spocks is the name Liz came up with to be used on the end credits of Bewitched every time Serena would appear in an episode. Leading many fans to believe that Serena was played by another actress. She thought Pandora Spocks was a bit more subtle, and a lot funnier. :D
Titania 11-26-2003, 08:16 PM Titania is the name of the queen in Shakespeare's A Midsummer Night's Dream
when I registered here I had just finished a production of AMND as Titania, it's also my favorite of his plays.
Years ago, on other message boards, I used to be known as "AKA Driver," which is the title of one of my favorite They Might Be Giants songs. Three or four years ago, I shortened it to AKA because it just sounds more mysterous.
Rickenbacker, do you play?:)

Dietrich: From the smart, sly-witted detective on Barney Miller {and currently in my avatar ;) }
I'd like to think I have some of the better qualities of both characters... :D
AllIWantIsYourClutch 11-26-2003, 09:32 PM I like Trading Spaces and I like mooses. Put em together.
consentida 11-26-2003, 09:43 PM Okay...my username means spoiled in Spanish. And one day I was talkin to my Spanish teacher and she called me Consentida and I was like oook. I decided I liked the way the word sounded so thats my username. so yeah...okay I'm done

david&maddie4ever 11-26-2003, 11:26 PM Well, mine's pretty obvious, especially if you've seen my first two avatars. I just changed it again today, though! :D Sorry.
I started watching Moonlighting about two years ago, and it's been my show ever since. About a year ago, when I found out the reruns were getting knocked off Bravo, it actually sent me into tears! :crying: Now, I'm just hoping and praying that the DVDs come out soon, but until then, I have my username to remind me of the wonder that is Moonlighting.

Chelsea 11-27-2003, 01:00 AM The True Origin of King31...I've never told the truth about this before (The Online Racing League story is only half-true):
One afternoon, I was playing a few games of poker (no-stakes, admittedly). Well, suffice it to say, due to really crappy dealing I suppose, I, somehow managed to get a pair of Kings in *31* straight hands.
The next race in the aforementioned racing league, I switched my ScreenName, just for the heck of it, to King31. I got my best finish ever, to date, that night. It's stuck ever since.
dawsongirl 11-27-2003, 02:29 AM Dawson= Richard, aka host of Family Feud, Newkirk on Hogan's Heroes, blah blah blah.

~*Hannah_Lee*~ 11-27-2003, 02:34 AM Hannah is my first name....Lee is my middle name...and i thought the ~* *~ looked cool.
My older username was jeannieindallas, which comes from a ridiculous story where me and my best friend combined Dallas and I Dream of Jeannie.
And my other name, billdailyfanforever, was because I was a pretty big Bill Daily fan at the time. Still love him, just not crazy about him like I used to be.

Sean Snow 11-27-2003, 02:57 PM Sean = my name. *nods*
Snow = the last name from Chrissy on Three's Company.
I've also had two other names (my name was originally Sean Snow and then I changed it twice before going back. Like anyone wanted to know that. *le sigh*) ... Sean Feeney Snow and Burke Snow Winters (what was I on when I made that name?!)
PZelda 11-27-2003, 03:35 PM Okay, my name has two different meanings.
PZelda...OK, bear with me here. I have been a HUGE fan of the Zelda series for Nintendo since 1987. My ABSOLUTE fave character in the Zelda series isn't a playable character the majority of the time -- that would be Princess Zelda. OK, anyway, one day in the fall of 1998, I was thinking of a new screenname for on ICQ and I did a search on "Princess Zelda" there and saw a LOT of people had that as their name...I wanted to be original, so that's how PZelda was born. I've been using that as my screen name in one way or the other for the last 5 years. :D
Now, the VICKI!! part of my name is pretty self-explanatory...But for those of you who don't know about it, I shall explain. I'm a Vicki Lawrence fan...Okaaaaaaay. HUGE. Better? Anyway, I'm a HUGE Vicki fan, and had the chance to meet her in person back in May (of this year...But I won't bore you with my story AGAIN. :p). Right around the time I met her, I decided to change my name to that....PZelda: VICKI!! just because I thought it sounded cool that way.
Vicki Lawrence rocks! Be sure to watch "Mama's Family", she played the lead character on there, Mama.
-*Forever*- 11-27-2003, 10:12 PM After going through numerous "forever" names (Annie Potts Forever, Delta Burke Forever, Patricia Heaton Forever, etc.) Sean once had suggested to me ______ Forever. Well, the blank was ugly. And TJ told me I could only change it one more time (I had changed it 10 times previously), so I thought back to that. And -* looks preety. So there you go.
My name before that (~*Roxie Rickman*~) is simple enough. I went by the name Roxie back then. I was in love with Alan Rickman. Simple! Oh, little known fact - when TJ told me I could only change my name one more time, I almost changed it to -*Roxy Irons*-. Only Mel knows that story... she talked me out of it. HAHAHA.
*Nancy Mckeon* 11-28-2003, 05:04 AM i think its obvious..........
ABlairican Pie 11-28-2003, 12:24 PM My username comes from my interest in comic book drawing as well as in Lisa Whelchel/Blair Warner. I'm thinking of maybe changing it to something even more original...

M82A1 11-30-2003, 08:18 PM This goes back a while. Okay, Tremors is my all time, 100% favorite movie. Then, at the beginning of this year, SciFi channel made a Series about the movies. In the series, Burt Gummer has an M82A1. I also used this Screen-name at the Tremors board, and it carried over to S.O.
Microprosa 11-30-2003, 08:37 PM I needed a name fast so I looked around and saw the name Microprose (the computer game company), thought it sounded cool, and added an "a" to it because I'm female.
