View Full Version : 11/25 show... I'm still crying....
LILFACE23 11-25-2003, 09:51 PM I thought this show was fantastic. They had the comedy in it to bring it to the sitcom level, but still had the class of paying respects to John in the end (when they were sitting at the table and looked at his chair). I noticed in the background Amy was sniffiling like she started to cry again. I did. As soon as Katey looked up after she sat down, I knew it was coming. I still miss seeing him there. :(
LILFACE23 11-25-2003, 11:29 PM Did anyone else watch the show?
TVJunkie101 11-25-2003, 11:37 PM I watched it. Loved it. Truly a hilarious episode. I didn't stop laughing, but the ending was so sad. The loss is still felt. I like that, I don't think the character should be forgotten.
I loved the episode. I can't say enough about it. I also love James Garner. I wish he would stick around. He's a great addition.

They do an excellant job of remembering him. He'd be so proud of his T.V. family.
I definitely agree. James Garner should definitely stick around, it seems to lighten things up a bit. :)
Mr. Television 11-26-2003, 01:06 AM This definately was a great episode. A little more comedy this week and I agree James Garner should stick around.

I want James Garner to stick around, too. His character has fit in so naturally, I think, and has helped to bring back some humor.
Tonight's episode was one of the best. Couldn't help but cry at the end, though. :(
8rules 11-26-2003, 02:40 AM That was a great episode, was hilarious. I also hope James Garner sticks around, he and Rory are great together.
Mariel 11-26-2003, 03:05 AM I agree. James Garner and Martin Spanjers have great chemistry together. I've gotten used to seeing them together that it would be weird if one day Grandpa wasn't there anymore. They should definitely keep James Garner on the show...although it would be kinda hard to make up a new storyline for him every week. Hey, maybe they could have his character start dating again. Hehe...then he'd always be whistling.
I already said this on the sticky thread for this episode, but I'm gonna say it again: I LOVE the part where Rory goes, "I was afraid they were gonna turn into big, fat whores." That was totally unexpected. LOL. Man, I'm loving that kid more and more with each new episode.
Mr. Roper 11-26-2003, 08:45 AM *claps* I loved that episode. The show is becoming HILARIOUS.. Bravo! They did a great job. The ending was really sad though. James Garner does an excellent job also!
They did Fantastic!!
TheBert 11-26-2003, 10:16 AM I agree it was a great show... I think they should go on like this. Considered it is a comedy, the bigger part has to be funny, but they shouldnt stop remembering John. He deserves it. I loved the scene where they looked at the emtpy chair. It made me cry a few tears again.
Brad Russ 11-27-2003, 05:08 AM I thought the episode was great! I liked it alot better then the "What Dad Would Want" episode from the previous week. That episode seemed to lack something to me, while this episode, as others have already mentioned, had the perfect amount of comedy, and drama. My favorite part was also the end when they all looked at John's chair. Something about the music that was playing in the background as Grandpa handed Rory the knives to cut the turkey really got to me. I didn't cry, but I came close. I was pretty surprised at Rory's big fat you know what comment, but it was pretty funny I guess. Quality wise, there are probably going to be lots of up and down episodes this season, but last Tuesday's episode was definitely an up!
wolf paws 11-29-2003, 03:28 AM I also liked "The First Thanksgiving" episode. It had lots of comedy to it and a sad part at the end where they were looking in Paul's empty chair, but remembering his character and him in real life :) I'm sure John is looking down at them with smiles :) I also think James Garner is a great addition to the show, he has brightened up the set :) I hope he sticks around.
