View Full Version : mayday malone cursed the sox in 86!!!
mudshark82 11-25-2003, 09:22 PM i noticed in strange bedfellows at the news confrence the topic of how the sox are gonna do this year comes up and sam goes "theyre gonna go all the way this season" or something to that affect and everyone cheers. when i heard this a chill went down my spine. i'm sure at least everyone else on here from boston knows all about the curse of the bambino, well not long after hearing sam say that i realize this episode is from may of 86. i think sam malone disturbed the great bambino with that and caused the ball to go through buckner's legs to lose the 86 world series. anyone else see this as more than just a simple coincidence or am i just insane?

excuse me about the jets and giants but where was boston in the world series. i didn't notice them there. oh well. maybe it's just that the yankees are much better AND BEAT THEM!!!!!!!:yeahthat
cutiepi22 01-15-2004, 11:01 PM I'm sorry but i get very sensative about the Yankees LOL
mudshark82 01-15-2004, 11:05 PM we made our adjustments, no more grady little leaving pedro in with no gas left. we'll be back next season with a new way to choke and keep the curse alive, don't you worry. the only thing i had to keep my spirits up this season was that the yankees didnt win the world series, anybody but them is who we like to see in boston.
haha, all in good fun.
Janice 01-16-2004, 03:23 AM It sounds like a reasonable theory to me. :D

Spin City? Mm. I would post there if I had ever seen that show. I'm a huge Yankee fan, so naturally I dislike the Red Sox. That has nothing to do with someone liking Cheers...

mudshark82 01-16-2004, 07:34 PM this is depressing. ive always associated cheers with my hometown and now i find out all its fans are yankees lovers. what's next? i'll find out theres no santa claus?

The Cheers/Yankee fan thing isn't so terrible, but don't you ever imply that Santa doesn't exist!

DansonQueen 01-17-2004, 12:55 AM no worries....Cheers and Red Sox fan right here...
I can only assume that those that prefer the Yankees live south of CT, as theres not so much Boston love in the NY area

My husband's passion (besides me, lol) is the Red Sox. He rarely misses a game. When we go out, he has to tape it.
I'm a baseball widow from April to October, but I'm not complaining. He's home, and I love the Sox too.
I love the Red Sox and Boston theme in Cheers. Carla's apron, Mayday Malone...it's a lot of fun.
cutiepi22 01-17-2004, 01:49 PM I'm just going to leave it at this:I'd like to know who beat the Sox? and i don't care if the Yanks didn't win the world series. as long as they beat the sox i'm happy!!
THE CURSE LIVES ON!
