This is the episode where the girls reach the point where they become more irritated than ever with each other as roomates. Coicidentally Mrs. G surprises them with the news that their probationary period is over, and they no longer have to work in the kitchen plus they have the option of splitting up as roommates. After arguing with each other, they decide to split up. They move back into the dorms for a few days and find new roomates- all 4 of them separted from each other. Mrs. G then tells them that new girls will be moving into their old room to take over the kitchen duties. She tells them that they must clean up the room and paint it to prepare for the new girls. When the 4 girls are forced to reunite to paint the room together, they get into a paint fight and make a big mess- all over themselves and in the room. Mrs. G walks in and startles them...they must decide how they will pay for the damage. In the end, they decide to continue working in the kitchen and be roomies in their old room all over again to pay for the damage.

Significance of the paint fight: they are obviously laughing and having a good time during the paint fight, knowing deep down that they are truly best friends and that good friends are hard to come by.

Fantastic job on the synopsis!
Now I really can't wait. Maybe N@N won't cut out as many scenes this time. Sigh.

This episode is pretty much the last time the girls give a good reason as to why they live above the cafeteria and work there. They were in school another year and a half; surely, it didn't take that long to pay off the cost for varnishing the floor.

I remember when Princess Alex was introduced, she was incredulous when she heard that they worked in the kitchen. Jo responded that it was good money; so by then, they were just getting paid for their duties rather than paying off any debt. Blair responded, "They do it for the money. I do it 'cause it's fun."
