Thanks for posting that Nirvana. I knew that special was going to bomb. I didn't watch it, but I saw the list of songs she performed, and they were some of her worst. Plus, I'm sure it didn't compare to her ABC special which drew in 7 million.

I just thought it was strange that he had that last name. Chill out and technically it would be the father who would pass on the last name. You see when a man and woman get married usually the woman gives up her maiden name and changes it to her husbands last name. Then when they have kids, the kids automatically get the last name of their father. Oh my god, why I am even explaining this. ohno:

Fashion Wire Daily December 2, 2003 - Los Angeles - We all watched in amazement as the ultra-scrawny singer Christina Aguilera (news) packed on the pounds last year.

But now, just as suddenly, she's lost the lard. How'd she do it? We thought you'd wanna know.

First, the down and dirty on the booty build-up. Her trainer Ashley Borden tells press, "Her metabolism slowed plus she was on Depo Provera (an injectable, ouch, contraceptive) that may cause weight gain."

He put the 23-year-old pop princess through an 11-day boot camp to prep for the MTV Video Music Awards in August. She worked out twice a day. Her morning movement was treadmill for an hour, mixing walking with running. Evening was a solid hour of boxing following by weightlifting. Now that she's back in shape, she works out only four times per week.

Christina also said buh-bye to fast foods and snarfed up the lean protein (think turkey), veggies and tons of water (she canned her coke cravings) with tween-meal snacks like 12 almonds and a piece of fruit. Occasional indulgences included chocolate or wine, but only IF she skimped on main meals.

Less turkey, more Chardonnay. Bottom's up!

Christina's Short Skirts Made Touring a Better Experience
SOURCE: Justin Timberlake Online/ Us Weekly/ liveDaily

In the new issue of Us Weekly with Whitney Houston and Bobby Brown on the cover, Justin Timberlake was full of compliments for his summer-tourmate Christina Aguilera. On backstage antics, Timberlake revealed about the pop princess, "She's not as wild and crazy as people may think! Christina's cool with just kicking back, having a few beers and watching a movie. She didn't really hang out that much on tour. And I probably shouldn't say this, but the short skirts were nice."

There's more to this, as he talks about Cameron a little and complains about the excessive media attention with their relationship. But that's all he said about Christina.

Christina Among Grammys Performers
LINK: http://story.news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=story&u=/afp/20040121/en_afp/us_music_grammys_040121193129

LOS ANGELES (AFP) - Musical superstars ranging from Justin Timberlake (news) and Christina Aguilera (news) to veteran rocker Sting will perform at next month's Grammy Awards, organisers announced Wednesday.

The quiver of top entertainers are among the line-up of stars who will strut their stuff on stage when music's highest honours are handed out in Los Angeles on February 8, the Recording Academy said.

Also performing at the ceremony will be hip-hop group the Black Eyed Peas, The White Stripes, rappers OutKast veteran group Earth, Wind and Fire and country star Martina McBride (news).

In addition to unveiling the first batch of performers scheduled to appear at the 46th annual Grammys (news - web sites), the Recording Academy also announced a raft of award presenters.

Handing out the golden gongs will be last year's huge Grammy winner Norah Jones (news), John Mayer (news), rapper Pharrell Williams, "Lord of the Rings" movie star Sean Astin (news) and actress Amber Tamblyn.

Rap, hip hop and R and B dominate the nominations for this year's Grammys, announced last month, with Beyonce Knowles (news), Jay-Z, Pharrell Williams and OutKast coming to the ceremony armed with six nods each.

Nine artists including pop heart-throb Timberlake, rappers Eminem (news - web sites) and 50 Cent, rhythm and blues king Luther Vandross (news), who is recovering from a stroke, and diva Missy Elliot scored five nods apiece.

People Magazine Rooting for Christina

Best Female Pop Vocal

First, what were the voters thinking when they tapped Lavigne for "I'm With You"? It's a bit easier to understand how Clarkson, riding the wave of American Idol mania, got nominated for the Aguilera hand-me down "Miss Independent," but her over-the top vocals sink her chances with us. Dido's "White Flag" on the other hand, is an excercise in cool British restraint. McLachlan, after six years away from the studio, returned in typically sublime voice on "Fallen". But Aguilera may have a career song in the stunning self-love ballad "Beautiful," which finds the singer toning down her usual theatrics until the tune's emotional climax. It's somewhat of a surprise that the song didn't get nominated for Record Of The Year, but Aguilera, deservedly, won't be brought down here.

Elliott Joins Aguilera for AIDS Awareness

Missy Elliott has signed on to be one of the new spokespeople for M.A.C. cosmetics. For the company's upcoming Viva Glam campaign, Elliott joins Christina Aguilera, actress Chloë Sevigny, supermodel Linda Evangelista and pop icon Boy George. All proceeds from the cosmetic line's Viva Glam V pink lipstick and lip gloss go to the M.A.C. AIDS Fund, which raises money for people living with HIV and AIDS.

Duff Supports 'Beautiful' Aguilera

On today's episode of "On Air With Ryan Seacrest," teen pop star Hilary Duff showed support for Aguilera by commenting that she wants Christina to win at the upcoming Grammy's. Duff will be presenting the Female Pop Vocal award this Sunday, Aguilera is nominated in that category.

"Beautiful," the soaring ballad that has scored Christina Aguilera a nomination for Best Female Pop Vocal Performance, is the kind of song that can stand to be given a grand treatment. And that's precisely what it got Thursday evening at GRAMMY rehearsals when Aguilera sang the song backed with a full band, a 20-piece string orchestra and a concert choir. The treatment was so grand, in fact, that at first the diminutive singer was obscured by her choir. "Am I supposed to be an invisible voice?" she asked the GRAMMY crew. The answer was a firm "No," and a few edited stage directions later the choir parted to reveal the singer, looking relaxed and casual in jeans and jacket, with her now-dark hair swept up in a bandanna. Kneeling on a small platform, surrounded by swirling stage smoke, the singer belted out the song several times, working her way from a sedate a cappella opening to a bravura finish. Each time through, the singer made great use of her powerful pipes, adding improvised vocal embellishments to the melody. The performance was — perhaps predictably — beautiful.

Last Sunday, February 15, the non-present Christina Aguilera won MTV Asia's Best Female Artist Award. Earlier during the show Mariah Carey received a Lifetime Achievement Award and, fellow pop artist, Stacie Orrico spoke out her opinion about Christina and Britney Spears....

Singer Orrico Decries Spears, Aguilera
FROM: AP | LINK: http://story.news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=story&u=/ap/20040215/ap_en_tv/singapore_mtv_asia_awards_9

SINGAPORE - Christian singer Stacie Orrico says revealing clothing like that worn by Britney Spears (news) and Christina Aguilera (news) is "degrading" and makes them poor role models for girls.

"The reason that I don't dress trashy is that I'm trying to set an example for little girls," Orrico told reporters Saturday in Singapore while preparing for the MTV Asia Awards. "From the time they're seven or eight years old, (girls) are being taught that the only thing that makes them special and beautiful is their sexuality, and I think that's wrong."

Orrico, wearing a loose, long-sleeved white shirt and jeans, said she doesn't approve of the image projected by the pop superstars.

"I don't think that's sexy, I think it's degrading," the 17-year-old from Nashville, Tenn., said. "I think that a truly sexy woman comes from being confident and being classy, respectable and mature."

Orrico's self-titled album rose to No. 5 on Billboard's Top Contemporary Christian Albums list this month.

Besides statues, Grammys bestow a big sales boost
FROM: USA Today | LINK: http://story.news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=story&u=/usatoday/20040219/en_usatoday/besidesstatuesgrammysbestowabigsalesboost

Grammy gold doesn't stop when the last statuette is doled out. Winners and performers from trophy magnet Beyoncé to breakout star Robert Randolph enjoyed a victory lap aboard the annual post-show gravy train as consumers cast their votes at the cash register.

In the seven days following the Feb. 8 Grammy telecast, 10 acts saw sales rise more than 100%, according to Nielsen SoundScan.

Outkast, who delivered twin performances and won best album for Speakerboxxx/The Love Below, got the heftiest increase in units, with 275,000 copies sold, a 146% jump from the previous week's 111,000.

On the chart, it rises two notches to No. 4, behind last week's leader, Kenny Chesney (news), at No. 3 and two hefty debuts. No Grammy winner had a fatter week than last year's sweepstakes princess, Norah Jones (news), whose new Feels Like Home enters at No. 1 after selling more than 1 million copies.

Other Grammy aftermaths:

• Alicia Keys (news), Sarah McLachlan (news), Martina McBride (news), Christina Aguilera (news), Justin Timberlake (news), Sean Paul, Alison Krauss and the late Johnny Cash (news) also posted double-digit gains.

In a week of feverish buying, only one Grammy nominee in SoundScan's top 200 lost ground: Nelly's Da Derrty Versions fell 2% and 26 slots to No. 76.

Aguilera, Elliott to Pitch Viva Glam
FROM: AP/Yahoo! | LINK: http://story.news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=story&u=/ap/20040212/ap_on_en_mo/people_aguilera_elliott_7

NEW YORK - MAC cosmetics has introduced five new representatives — including Christina Aguilera (news) and Missy Elliott — for Viva Glam products that will benefit the MAC AIDS (news - web sites) Fund.

All proceeds from Viva Glam V Lipstick and Lipglass will go to the fund, which provides money to organizations that provide care and daily essentials to those afflicted with HIV (news - web sites)/AIDS and that offer education, awareness and prevention programs.

Aguilera, Elliott, supermodel Linda Evangelista, Chloe Sevigny and Boy George were introduced at a press conference Wednesday. MAC President John Demsey said they were asked to join the project because they represent the many faces of AIDS patients — "all ages, all races, all sexes."

The stars, featured in an advertising campaign shot by Michael Thompson, said they are hopeful a cure for AIDS will be found in the near future so the MAC AIDS Fund could be disbanded and the lipsticks retired.

Elliott's cousin died recently from complications from AIDS.

"None of us are immune," Elliott said.

Over the past 10 years, MAC has raised more than $32 million through the sales of the Viva Glam lipstick collection. Previous spokesmen include Elton John (news) and Mary J. Blige (news).

Viva Glam V products will be in stores next month.

Wow, it's been a few years since this thread has been updated. So let's play catch up:

Christina's third album, Back to Basics is going to be released August 15. The first single "Ain't No Other Man" is currently on the #9 spot on Billboard's Hot 100-- making it Christina's first Top 10 since "Beautiful," which was released in 2002.

After three weeks, "Ain't No Other Man" is also the nation's second most downloaded (legally) song. "Promiscuous" by Nelly Furtado is first.

The cover art was finally released by MTV yesterday on TRL:

I've got all her tracks, and unreleased stuff, and b-sides on my computer. Sooo... yes, I'm a fan.

BTW, 30 second clips of all of the tracks of "Back To Basics" leaked yesterday. I've gotta say this new album is waaay different from anything she's ever done before. It's more "adult contemporary".

So anyways, my favorite song ever (and from her obviously) is "Fighter"... too bad she hasn't done more rock-pop songs.

Oh... one last thing... I still love the "Dirrty" video. :happyface

Un-covered
from New York Post

Sexy songbird Christina Aguilera, who rose to fame with her album "Stripped," is about to be stripped of a cover appearance on the October issue of Vibe.

Sources said the ax was wielded by Danyel Smith, the former editor-in-chief who was returned to power when the new owners fired Mimi Valdes and a good part of her staff recently.

"She's trying to do away with anything associated with the old staff," said one ex-employee.

Smith didn't return calls, but a mag spokeswoman confirmed that Aguilera is off the cover.

"We're extremely disappointed," said Aguilera's spokeswoman. "We were hoping they would honor their commitment. Christina put a lot of time and effort into the photo shoot and interview."

Her RCA album "Back to Basics" hits Aug. 15.

Janet Jackson is on the cover of the September issue, which is due out shortly. But that one also generated controversy.

It was about to go to press when the takeover was announced. Smith inserted herself as the editor-in-chief, angering employees who felt she should have left Valdes' name in place for her final issue. After a staff uproar, Valdes' name will appear as a "departing editor."

The hip-hop and urban-music magazine, founded by Quincy Jones, was taken over by Mort Zuckerman's nephew, Eric Gertler and his partner Ari Horowitz with backing from the Wicks investment group.

The latest owners immediately started a two-stage bloodbath that chopped close to 30 people over a two-week period.

There's an online petition created by a member of the liveDaily (talk.livedaily.com) forums urging Vibe to put Christina back on the cover.

HuntingtonM15
10-05-2013, 08:10 PM
As a judge on The Voice, Christina is just OK. She has been really funny at times, but a lot of times the humor comes from her being a bitch. If I was a contestant on the show, I definitely wouldn't want to be on her team. She doesn't put in the effort with her singers that the others do.

On another subject, I have to say that I was quite a fan of her last album, Lotus. Even though it pretty much bombed, I loved several of the songs on it...Let There Be Love...Circles...Just a Fool...Army of Me...Make the World Move.

I completely agree. I think a lot of that bitchiness stemmed from self esteem issues because she was so overweight at the time, I haven't been able to catch the latest season. I wonder if she has changed.

Her last two albums have been completely ignored by the general audience. Bionic (album) was messy and scattered. It also had an interesting theme that she wasn't able to execute well. I did like Lotus though, including the songs you listed. My favorite is probably Blank Page.

I forgot to mention Blank Page. It's such a great ballad, it would have been awesome to hear live. I really wish Christina could have toured with the Lotus album. I know she had plans to tour, but couldn't due to the poor sales.

She's doing her millionaires tour across the globe. I find it tacky that she will only play for people that will pay her millions.
