I'm not sure if this has been discussed, but does anyone have any thoughts about the Simpsons' repeated belittling of the Denver Broncos? In the cape fear episode Homer is fantasizing about being the Broncos quarterback and the team loses disgracefully. In the globex episode Homer is disappointed about being given the Broncos as a gift by Hank. I'm not much of a football fan, so am I missing something? Do they suck or something like that?

In the late 80's and early 90's the Broncos were famous for getting blown out in SuperBowls. They later won a pair in 1998 and 1999.
