Do any of you think that cable prices have gotten ridiculous? A few years ago the cost of basic Cable here in Oregon was around $20.00 to $25.00 a month, but in the last few years, it has gone up to around $50.00 a month. I actually had to give up cable recently because of overdue bills, and I heard today that Oregon's cable company is raising the price again! I think that's absurd!! We basically have a monopoly here in Oregon. We have one cable company here called Comcast, and so they just figure they can charge whatever they want, since there's no other local company to choose from. I'm thinking about getting people to boycott them, and force them to lower their prices. Anyway, what are the cable prices, and the amount of channels you receive where you all live? I'm curious to see how other States relate to Oregon as far as pricing, and variety goes. If I do get cable again, I'm probably just going to go with the dish. They give way more channels, and are much cheaper.

We have Midcontinent (a regional thing, I think) and here, we get about 70 channels. Not bad, IMO. :D But I'd really like a dish. :)

That's about the same amount I had. Actually I had 71 channels.:D I wasn't dissatisfied with the amount of channels I had, It was just the price. Even with 71 channels, (most of which are crap anyway), I don't think over $50.00 is a good deal. Especially when their are digital, and Satellite packages for cheaper. The only bad thing Iv'e heard about dishes is that the channels sometime get blurred when the weather changes and stuff. I would hate to have to get a ladder and mess with the thing everytime the weather changed, but i'd rather deal with that hassle than the hassle of having to pay so much!

I just heard on the news tonight that the cable prices in Oregon have gone up 77 percent in the last 7 years. I don't even want to imagine how much the price will go up in the next 7 years.
