Nancy is not god. I get annoyed when I go onto these boards and half the topics are about people who worshipped the ground Nancy Mckeon's relatives walked on. There are alot better actresses. She didn't run the show. She was a good character but so was everyone else too. I am not saying I hate Nancy or Nancy lovers, I am just saying cool down a little because this board needs some better topics. Nancy is a good actress but not a god. Sorry

I agree with you that people are making too much of a big deal about Nancy Mckeon and her new show The Division and her role on the facts, but that just means that they are idolizing her and that's fine with me. It doesn't "annoy" me, but it's normal. I like Nancy, but she's not my idol and she's not my favorite actress.

I agree. Not that I don't like Nancy. I think she's a terrific actress and Jo was a great character. But she wasn't the whole show. She was only part of it. As were all the girls. Don't hate me for this but I would like to see some discussion about something other than Nancy for a change.

Nancy McKeon is my favorite actress. I think she's really funny, but I definally don't worship her and she's not my idol. I don't talk about her all day long like some people here. I think she's really cool, though and I would love to meet her. If you think there are better actresses than her, that's your opinion and no one can decide for someone else if there's better actresses than her. Only you can decide what you think. You can't decide for other people.

Ohh...what else is there to talk about...Lisa quit...Mindy Cohns a cartoon...And kim fields works for nickelodeon...(she was on Kenen and Kel BTW) And charlotte rae was performing at a theater a few town over from me....Nancys been in more movies shows, and is doing more TV stuff right now...Sorry, but theres just more anncy stuff to talk about...THINK ABOUT IT!

Sorry there will be no seperate board for Nancy. If I had one for her, I would have to start one for all of them. I'd suggest you just not read any of the topics that don't interest you or start topics on other cast members.

Come on now. Nancy is a person. People should be careful when it comes to idolizing celebs. Some girls lost it back in 1977 and killed herself because Freddie Prinze Jr. killed himself. How does that help a cause?

I agree. She is JUST a normal person that happens to appear on television. Also, I don't know about you guys but when Kim Fields was on 'Living Single' she was a pretty big star over here on the west coast, and honestly she is the only reason y i became interested in the show.

I scrolled down the board and noticed that I had opened maybe half the topics. Some of this is because I went home for Easter, but when I looked at those topics I remembered that I kept on scrolling when I was at home. Repeated topics about actress's personal lives don't interest me and I do not idolize any of them. I do think it's really cool that they are all successful in their own way, NMK just receives more attention. If NMK was to leave the Division then I would still watch it, unless the X-Files got really good again! The NMK talk on this board becomes very monotonous. One person or a television show shouldn't be your whole focus in life. I really jumped around on this so I hope someone can make sense of this!

I love Nirvana and still listen to the cds, but this one girl in my class idolized him. All of us were watching MTV, they covered it like a news event, but she completely fell to pieces. Ever since then idolizing of celebrities is territory that I just don't enter.

Wow! I never started a topic that lasted more than like 7 post and here i have a 2 page topic that is on fire. Heck even TJ himself posted.

I am happy about the way this discussion is going. Everyone has said there side of the story and the Nirvana thing was a nice touch.

I agree that Nancy has done more than the other girls but this board seems to have more Nancy posts than FOL posts at times. Just my opinion...I never knew I had so many people on my side....BTW: I apologize if I have insulted anyone in the coarse of all this....but you have to admit that this is a nice mature conversation we are having here....celebrity idolizing is a big social issue...

I think that Nancy's a great actress in all the roles she's played. And yes, she does get more publicity the other girls on the show because she's on the Division. However, I am also in agreement with LeslieM14 and Rock and Roll777 that there's a little too much focus on her on this board.

Let me say this, having a role model to emulate is great. We all need positive role models in life, and If you think Nancy's a good role model for you, that's fine too. But you need to keep it in moderation.

However, it is a bad thing to worship a celebrity too much. You cannot and should not focus your entire life on one person. It's dangerous. The examples of the girl who killed herself after Freddie Prinze died, and the girl who lost it after Kurt Cobain committed suicide are unfortunatly sad examples of what can happen to you if you carry the idol worship thing too far.

Also, this is an extreame case, but too much idol worship can lead to unhealthy behavior, like obsessiveness and stalking. There are so many celebrities out there that have obsessive fans doing this to them. Somtimes extreme idol worship can have a deadly end-- John Lennon was killed by an obsessed fan.

Look, I'm not saying that any of you are obsessed with Nancy McKeon. So please don't jump all over me for it. All I'm saying is that you should remember that Nancy is a person like everone else and should be treated that way. Don't make her the focus of your life.

Okay, now that I've tossed in my 2 cents, I'll get off my soapbox now.
