anyone else think it's funny that her Grandma (Nanna) looks younger than her mother does?

Shelley Winters was born in 1922, Estelle Parsons in 1927. so obviously, there was little reality in their casting.

So that would have made Nana Mary 5 when she had Bev in real-life. ROFL!

I guess they could have made Shelley Winters look older, but they obviously decided against it.

I was watching the Thanksgiving episodes wishing how my Grandma was still alive, and how much I wish she had been like Nana! LOL

Nana Mary reminded me of Sophia from the Golden Girls. Shelley Winters was too close in age with Estelle Parsons. Estelle Getty is actually a year younger than Bea Arthur, her tv daughter. However, they made sophia look older by putting a wig on, old clothing and her not wearing any make-up. They should have done the same with Nana Mary.

However perhaps Roseanne wanted to portray an that a woman advanced in age can still look good and act lively. Congrats to Roseanne and the producers if that was the case. What do you all think?

I think that when they had Shelley Winters on, it was to be Shelley Winters, ageing make-up, wigs, etc. would have taken away from that.

I think they did a brilliant job by picking Estelle and Shelley, i couldnt imagine it without them two! they are top actress's! :)

I think Estelle and Shelley did well on the show playing mother and daughter despite their close age. I loved Nana Mary gave Bev a hard time.
