So now that Prince is in, they don't have to induct anyone else, the hall is now complete. :happyface :happyface :happyface :happyface

Charismatic rocker Prince and the late George Harrison are among seven 2004 inductees for the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, it was announced on Thursday. Bob Seger, Traffic, ZZ Top, Jackson Browne and The Dells are the other "performer" category inductees to be honored at the 19th annual induction ceremony in New York on March 15. Harrison, who died of cancer in November 2001 at age 58, was previously inducted in 1988 as a member of the Beatles. Artists become eligible for induction 25 years after the release of their first record.

The multitalented Prince -- a singer, songwriter, guitarist, keyboard player and dynamic dancer -- blossomed as a rock star with his 1982 double album "1999."

Two years later, at age 26, he rose to the highest ranks with the movie and album "Purple Rain" which simultaneously gave him a single, "When Doves Cry." "Purple Rain" reached No. 1 spot on the Billboard and box-office charts.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Not too mention his critically acclaimed Dirty Mind album, or the many artists who's careers he jump started, or hits (Manic Monday, Nothing Compares 2 U) he wrote for other artists, or artists that mention him as an influence, etc., etc. Very much deserved. :clap

this kicks butt. I consider Prince (at least 1978-1992 Prince) to be one of music's all time greatest geniuses, up there with Lennon and Stevie Wonder

I didn't know Prince made the rock & roll hall of fame recently. I'm glad he made it too. He deserves it. I've been a fan of his since i was a kid. Unfortunately i stopped listening to him after his Diamonds & Pearls cd cause he started making wack music to me. I was on the Elektra records website a couple of days ago & Gerald Levert has his own message board on there since he's on Elektra records. Anyway since Eddie Levert of The Ojays is his dad, there are some people on there who are trying to have a petition signed that The Ojays should get inducted in the rock & roll hall of fame. I agree with that cause The Ojays have made a lot of classic songs back in the day. I saw their old outfits that they used to wear in the rock & roll hall of fame.

Prince deffently belongs in the Hall of Fame. He influenced a whole generation of artists. And in my opinion nobody outside of Michael Jackson had a bigger impact and influence on the music of the 1980's than Prince.

I'm glad Prince made it in (he was a true musical genius, and maybe someday down the road he'll surprise us with something as innovative as what he was doing in the '80s and early '90s). George Harrison, too. It's just a shame that John Mellencamp didn't get in, but there's always next year.

First, let me perform some magic tricks on your post. It's a little trick I learned whilst in grade school called "spelling, grammar and punctuation."

And 1986 called - they want there hair style back.

Heres a little ditty about rock stars past...

Back in my day, we tried to be coherent.

Your post, now that it's semi-readable in the above quote, proves that you don't know very much about John Mellencamp, save for what you've heard on your local classic rock station or what you've seen on VH1 Classic. Whether you like him or not, Mellencamp is a highly-praised singer/songwriter whose talents go far beyond the wildly popular "crack-boom-bam" rock songs he did in the '80s.

And so what if he's a "rock star past." Regardless of the fact that he hasn't had a hit single since 1998, he's still writing insightful songs and making great records. Mellencamp doesn't care if his songs get any airplay on the top 40 station between Britney Spears and Blink 182.

He also contributes quite a bit to society, especially by helping to form Farm Aid in 1985, which he, as well as co-founders Willie Nelson and Neil Young continue to keep going every year.

And go ahead and call 1986 back for me. Tell it that it should actually ask for 1988 instead of 2003, as that's the year Mellencamp got rid of that ridiculous '80s hairstyle.

C'mon Gert, John Mellencamp is a great singer and does diserve to be in the hall of fame, you probably dont like his type of music.
