Does anyone remember the Pepsi commerical MJF was in several years ago? What year is that from?

I'm asking because my Consumer Problem class was discussing ads, and advertising, and the professor brought up the ad that featured MJF. Of course I thought that was cool. Anyway, she mentioned that at some point the amount and details of the commerical had been discussed among people, when the commerical aired. That the commerical cost a LOT of money, it wasn't indicated how much, and how the set that was created for the commerical was elaborate, like one for a set for a tv show etc. She really had my attention at this point. No, she didn't mention anything about FT, unfortunately. LOL. Anyway, I found the info. interesting. Anyway, she then said that some of the class might not have seen the commerical because it might have been before some of the class was born. Well, I found that odd because I thought the commerical was shot, aired, etc. sometime in the 1980's, and the average age of hte students in class, since it's a senior level(440) course is about 22yrs. old. That would mean the average student in the class was born in 1981. So, they would have been alive when the commerical was aired, but might not have been old enough to remember it. I think the commercial was aired around 1985 or so, but I could be wrong.

I believe it was actually a Diet Pepsi commercial, and it had something to do with him running out of an apartment building down the fire escape in the rain to get this girl a diet pepsi.

Besides the Diet Pepsi ad where MJF went out the window to find a Diet Pepsi for his new neighbour, there was also a Pepsi ad where MJF was in a library reading a book called "The Power of Suggestion". He then got up to get a Pepsi out of the machine, only to find the machine empty. So he took an empty pepsi can, made a photocopy of it, wrapped the photocopy into a cylindrical shape and drank out of it.
