Jenya 11-19-2003, 09:01 AM Dirty Dining?
Nov. 16 — Fast food: It’s served fast and you eat it fast, maybe too fast to notice the restaurant is a little dirty. The fact is that no one has ever done a national survey looking at the cleanliness of fast food chains — until now. Recently, we took our Dateline cameras undercover for the first-ever investigation of whether America’s top 10 fast food chains are clean and safe. How did your favorite restaurant do? NBC’s Chief Consumer Correspondent Lea Thompson reports.
The 10 worst fast food restaurants according to a Dateline NBC (http://www.msnbc.com/news/992692.asp?0cl=cR&cp1=1) hidden Camera investigation.

I believe that. Usually when I go to Burger King (which is not too often) the floors tables etc are dirty.
bandito 11-19-2003, 05:54 PM A freind of mine owns a lounge/ resturant, anyway he purchased a used deep fryer from a burger king, it took him 3 days to clean it it was filthy. So now I stay away from the french fries at Burger King.

pandora_spocks 11-19-2003, 06:01 PM I try to stay away from fast food restaurants now. I re-watched an episode of Beavis & Butthead (:D) and it was the one called “Tainted Meat.” It makes you wonder what people really do to your food before you receive it. If I’m that desperate to eat I’ll come home and make something to eat myself.

MandieR1980 11-19-2003, 06:51 PM 1 Burger King
Yeah I believe it they also don't do background checks on their employees and hire convicted rapists who murder people in bathrooms!
Kristina 11-19-2003, 06:59 PM I don't really eat at fast-food places anymore, mainly because I used to eat that nasty greasy unhealthy food ALOT. But I have gone to some restaurants and um Marie Callendar's is one of them, my mom got really sick there from eating a roast beef sandwich and she actually had the health department check them out and I heard the kitchen was really dirty.
I also try to avoid the restaurants that use alot of cancer causing chemicals in their food, kinda scary.

Yup happened near me last year. The rapist was working there and this woman named Alexandra Zapp went into the bathroom and he followed her in there and stabbed her to death. I refuse to step 2 feet in that place now which I call "Murder King"

Wow! I'm never stepping into another Burger King again. ohno:
EricIdlefan 11-19-2003, 07:57 PM I have been not only a very, very, dirty Hardees but Burger King was much more worse and a pizza hut because when I ever go there, Everything is so, so clean and organized but one night, about twelve tables were waiting to be cleaned up, the tables have food, junk, cigarettes and beer, you could smell it from where I was sitting!!

You just reminded me of something. About two years ago I watched a show called "Restaurants From Hell". It chronicled restaurants that were dirty, and also showed restaurants that put stuff in the food. I don't think you want to know what these disgusting people did with the food....
Ewan's My Man 11-19-2003, 08:02 PM Thank god. My favorite restaurant isn't up there. Good ol Roy Rogers.

I probably have a good idea. A few years back there used to be this Chinese restaurant not too far from us. They were shut down because well they were caught, how should I put this? Okay, they were masturbating into the food. I think that’s really sick if you ask me. I think they also would find stray cats and kill them and cook them into the food too, but I could be wrong about that one. I remember reading it in our local papers. Thank god, I’ve never eaten Chinese food from there or anywhere. I really don’t like it anyway.

OMG, that reminds me of when I was in a Roy Roger's restaurant when I was little. My dad wanted to go there and eat and so we did. While he was waiting to order he was looking around because the place was really dirty. He stopped one of the employee's and asked them to get the manager. He asked the manager if Roy knew how filthy this place was. :rotflmao: A year or two later, they finally tore that restaurant down and put up a new one. Today that restaurant is known as Arby's.

You can find them all over the place in Texas, too.
Arby's and Subway are on the list? :(
Kristina 11-20-2003, 06:00 AM I've never heard of Hardee's before, from the looks of the star as their logo I'm guessing it's Carl's Jr. with two names... maybe?
webuster 11-20-2003, 02:21 PM For some unknown reason, all of a sudden Subways (the fast-food place, we've had the other kind forever where I live- which I also call 'The Underage Drinking Den') are springing up everywhere! It's like day of the triffids- only with fast food restaurants! It's like, one day I went to sleep, then woke up and there's like Subways everywhere! Anyway- I'm not complaining, I like Subway.
Also- I was expecting something else- when you called the topic Dirty Dining I thought it was going to be a Patrick Swayze sequel with the couple from 'Dirty Dancing' starting up a restaurant, but it does crap business so they get people to dance on the tables while you eat- kind of like Coyote Ugly. What a let down!

 I thought the same thing...I even misread the thread title as "Dirty Dancing" and didn't know it was "Dining" until I clicked on it. What a letdown. Damn you, Jenya! :cuss:
Rebel Queen 1980 11-20-2003, 03:41 PM My family and I rarely rarely eat at fast food joints, but
my cousin once told me that one time at Pizza Hut he
once found deadly flies around the salad bar area.
EricIdlefan 11-20-2003, 04:24 PM Gross!! Very, very, gross!! One time my grandparents went to a Burger King and one of the customers choked on a french fry that he threw up the fly through his nose and almost everybody thought that was sick and left the restaurant!!
InspectorExstead 11-21-2003, 03:48 AM SUBWAY?!? As in *sings* Subway, eat fresh!? I love subway, yet I'm so sick of it, I went there so many times over the summer. But, I've never had ANY problem there, except for the fact that the lines could be shorter.
All the other fast food places....don't surprise me. glad i don't eat in any of them.

If that was the case, then Hooters would've probably been on that list!

LOL! But- if Patrick Swayze were to make a film around a restaurant resembling Hooters- it'd be like a senior citizens version of Hooters (where do old people it in the US? We don't have anywhere in the UK for old people especially- but at around 1 in the afternoon the little cafés are swarming with old people!)- Patrick Swayzes getting old!

Chad22 01-17-2004, 06:45 PM My Mom went to Arbys yesterday and She said Her Soda tasted like Vodka. What if Some Kid had gotten that?
Everytime ive Ever eaten their I Got sick.
Hollow 01-17-2004, 06:50 PM it really depends on how good the employees are. some of them slack around instead of cleaning etc.

I went to some breakfast thing at a hotel one time and i got sprite from one of those things where you push the button and fill up your cup. it sure as hell wasnt sprite, i think it was vinegar. it was so nasty i spat it back into my cup.

Tell your mom to be careful when ordering fast food when she's in Russia. Sometimes those Russki's can accidently forget to serve the drinks with no alcohol. ;)

That's happened to me a couple times at those pop fountains where you serve yourself. My sister was saying that the soda and the syrup which gives the pop it's sweet taste probably didn't mix properly in the machine. So actually all that came out was the soda.

Barnabas1 01-18-2004, 08:00 PM I can believe it about BK. It's awful! We saw this bathroom there that was filthy and didn't even have a toilet seat, had NO toilet paper (what they had was all over the floor), the water didn't work, and it was molded. It had a A sanitation rate though!

I've seen them in Indiana & Missouri, too.
phoebe7165 01-19-2004, 04:56 PM I have a question though--if all these restaurants are SOOOO dirty, how come they haven't been shut down? Health inspections are done on a regular basis and our local paper prints these reports. Alot of these fast food places frame their current health inspections and hang them right next to the cash registers for the customers to see.
david&maddie4ever 01-21-2004, 10:58 PM I hate when these investigations are done. I don't ever watch them because I know I'll gag. :p
I'm just totally wierd about meat right now, because in school, we were studying The Jungle by Uptain Sinclair. puke: Talk about a horror story!

I know what you mean. I like steak & hamburger and all, but whenever I see a cattle truck on the highway, I feel so sorry for those cows, it almost makes me want to turn vegetarian.

There's one up the street a few blocks away from where I live, here. :)
PZelda 01-22-2004, 01:23 AM Every time I go into Hardee's, I get nauseated. Once, last spring, my dad was dragging me and my stepmom ALL OVER THE FREAKING TOWN, looking for a place to have breakfast...It was also the day I had a MASSIVE headache...almost like a migraine. So when my dad stopped at Hardee's, we went inside and I wanted to vomit immediately. It wasn't even 10:30 in the morning and they were already making chili! :barf: Fortunately, we finally found a diner to have breakfast...But their service REALLY sucked. It took a hour for the freakin' food to come and all I wanted to do was die.
phoebe7165 02-02-2004, 07:12 PM I don't know why I didn't think of this sooner, but this reminds me of a restaurant inspection I read in our local paper. There was a restaurant/bar in Cocoa Beach and the inspector found that this place stored their margarita mix in a gas can!! A gas can?!! What the hey? I couldn't believe what I was reading! OK, my question is, this is a restaurant, you can't tell me that they had absolutely no other containers to put that margarita mix in but a gas can? No pitcher, no bottle, even a bowl?!! What, did the manager have a meeting with the employees and say "OK, we need something to put the margarita mix in, if anybody has a gas can lying around at home, can you bring it in?" Nobody could've just gone to Wal-mart and bought a pitcher for $3?! And what was a gas can doing in a restaurant anyway? I just didn't get it.
