Has anyone encountered a defective Disc 1 in the Jeffersons Season 2 set?

I've had to return my set twice because my disc 1 wouldn't play on my 3 DVD players! It was also slightly scratched on Disc 1 so I assumed that's why it wouldn't play.

Is this normal for discs to be scratched before you even open the package?

I don't have it, but it is not normal for a disc to be scratched.

I would wonder right away if someone had returned it and the store put it back out.

Sometimes discs become loose in the case and become scratched-this has happened to me. But if it was secure there is something strange about that.

A small scratch should not cause a dvd not to play.
A dirty disc or a disc with a lot of dust on it usually will not play.

It could just be defective of itself.

Thanks for your input dlemond.

I was just baffled why the same disc would have the same problem from 2 different stores of the same chain.

Too much of a coincidence if you ask me.

Well I finally got a good copy of the 2nd season. I watched the 1st disc all the way through, no problems!

Dinner With Harry is funny as heck. I liked Florence in the early days before she became more "proper" and started to dress a little nicer.

Ever notice that during Season 2, Weezie starts to look more "richer" looking - or "fancier" looking later in the Season compared to the beginning of the Season.

Her hair looks more beautiful and she wears "nicer" clothes and more jewerly than before. (not to mention gains a tad more weight than the last season)

Great season though. I enjoyed the last 2 discs over the past couple of days. George Meets Whittendale is still one of my favorites.
