I missed last night's episode, I fell asleep before it came on. All I know is that Katherine Helmond was going to be on and that Ray was going to plan a surprise b-day party for Debra.

Any details about last night's episode? Was it funny?

It was ok, funny at times, but not that great.
Here is what happened:

Debra's mother wants to throw her a surprise birthday party with an English tea theme. Ray agrees because she would do all the work.

Debra later suggest to Ray they go away for her birthday and Ray shoots it down kinda lamely, so Debra suspects he is up to something. She thinks there is a surprise party and that Ray planned it for her and she is quite excited. She goes on to tell Ray how she wants the party to be - A Chinese theme.

Ray later meets with Debra's mom and says he has an idea for a Chinese theme. She thinks Ray dislikes her and her ideas and Ray turns it around on her. She agrees to make a Chinese theme.

At the surprise party Ray's family gives him grief about the Chinese theme and tell him that they think Debra will think it is lame. Ray loses it and tell them that she knows and she wanted this theme. Robert proceeds to tell the whole party that Deb knows right before she comes in.

Debra acts all surprised for the crowd who all know she is full of it.
She is embarrassed but says that she really appreciated everything, everyone coming, and all the effort her husband put into it. At this point her mother comes forth and whispers to her who planned the party.
