View Full Version : Who would you have had Jo marry instead of Rick?

I've noticed that a lot of people around here seem to hate Rick. Who would you have had Jo marry instead?
Here are some of the choices:
Eddie Brennan-everyone knows him. He was Jo's longtime boyfriend in the early seasons.
Harrison Andrews-I don't know if he even counts. He's the creep from "Double Standard"
Bob Perkins-the guy Jo was "married to" and started to like more than Eddie.
David-the French guy Jo fell in love with in TFOLGTP.
Doug-Jo's boyfriend that worked at the mechanic shop with her and got mad when Jo got a promotion
Jason-I don't know if he counts. We saw about 2 seconds of him in "Best Sister" when Jo told him he wanted to be a nun.
Ambassador's kid-I don't know his name (My VCR messed up when they played "Just My Bill")
Hacksaw-big guy from "A Slice of Life" that kept putting his arm on Jo.
Date from "Love at First Byte"-I forget his name
Sam Hall- 30-year-old prof. w/ 7-year-old kid
Flyman-musician from Ft. Lauderdale
Doug-guy from Bronx in "The Ratings Game"
Illegal alien-never saw this ep. but heard about it a little
Eric-I think this was his name. He was the guy Jo was gonna ride to CA with.
Aussie cop-I forget his name and don't know if he counts.
Paul-Jo's boyfriend from "Down and Out in Malibu" (IMO kind of a sleaze)
Rick-piano player Jo ends up marrying

I don't know if you want to count these guys:
Buzz Ryan-cadet (they were really just friends)
Annoying cadet
Nice cadet
Mitch-we never saw him but Jo was supposed to take him to the Sadie Hawkins dance
Roy-ANNOYING delivery boy
Kevin

Or are you happy with Rick?
(I'll post my answer later cuz I wrote so much already.)

I think Eddie! I dunno, but i think that he cared about Jo a lot, and is just right for her.

CD- And how long has it been since you got some Jinny? 24 hours.
Jinny- Yes, mom, but i rountinly practice safe sex!

Teddy- What? Your in danger and I'm supposed to hide in the closet?

Jinny- I guess I'm just a dumb cop. Why don't you spell that out for me.

You guys won't belive it, but I thought that Jo should have married.....Hacksaw! He was so in love with her, and he would have been great protection for her, and they could have made pizzas together for a living.

Hacksaw! Yeah!

Being a proud member of the Anti-Rick Club, i'd have to say Jo should of married Eddie...of course. Hello! They were practicily made for each other. Not that lousy piano player... http://www.sitcomsonline.com/ubb/wink.gif

My first choice would have to be Eddie. If only he had not gotten married. Why, why, why did he have to go out and do that? My next choice would have to be Professor Sam Hall. It seemed like they were truly in love, but she was still so young and needed to see other people.

Umm...I dunno, I don't think Jo needed anyone to protect her. Eddie would have been a good choice if he didn't marry someone else and if he didn't keep the truth from her, but I don't think it would have worked when they were only teenagers (so I hate to admit that Blair was right that time).

I think that the Ambassador's kid's name was Bill- as mentioned in the title "Just My Bill." I would vote for him bcuz he was a cute one.

She definitely should've married the guy from the Bronx with the motorcycle that she dated on 'The Ratings Game.' Was his name Doug? They seemed to get along so well but we never saw him again after that episode. I thought the blind date Natalie set her up with from 'Love at First Byte' was also named Doug, Hmmmm, maybe Blair's date was named Doug...I can't remember.

Tootie: Muffy? Her name is Muffy? What kind of person is named Muffy?

Jo: Beats me, Tootie.

I would have marry Rick, and failing that . . . Rick. If Rick wasn't available, then, hmm . . .Rick!

She should have married Eddie!! Eddie rocked! I think he should have been in more episodes. They never had anything about him after they broke up that last time. There should have been more to the story. It was like 'that's it, nothing more to see here.' They just ended it with Jo and Eddie just standing there crying. What happened after that? I mean come on, it just doesn't make sense to have it end there with no further explanation or any other references to Eddie in future episodes. They were so much in love so it didn't make sense to just end everything between them in that episode and never hear anything about it ever again.

1. Doug
2. Hacksaw... I liked him, I wish we saw more of him
3. ANYBODY except Rick.

I wrote a haiku about Rick:

Rick is a loser
If I were Jo I would kick
his pathetic butt

Edited because Haiku os 5-7-5, not the other way around. Ooops.

In my opinion Jo should have married Sam Hall..the 30 yr old professor from Taking A Chance on Love. (My Fav Episodes) If anyone has seen that 2-part episode hopefully you would agree. This guy was crazy for her and she definately fell for him. Even though he had a kid...the kid loved Jo too.

I think Jo should have married Roy...I mean come on he loved her, and no one can doubt his devotion to her! I'm only kidding...actually I really like Rick and I'm perfectly happy that Jo made the right choice and married him.

I liked Rick but I kind of wanted Jo to marry Flyman. They were really good together in Gone with the wind part 1&2.

Sorry it's taken me so long to reply to my own post. A really close friend died.
I like Hacksaw and, I wish we saw him in more episodes. He was really funny. I thought Bob Perkins was a pretty nice boy. I also thought that the Doug from the Bronx was awesome. I loved how his uncle would put out bottles for kids to steal to get the deposit money. I guess I like all the guys that are in one episode and then disappear off the show. The first time I saw Rick I was like, "Oh, gosh please don't let this loser be the Rick that Jo marries." After a while he grew on me and I think he really loved her. I guess he's okay. I just wish he didn't waste those two years of his life. I gotta go!

I liked Doug, the guy from the Bronx. He was really nice and they shared a similar background. Unfortunately, he was not a regular character. Even though he was only in one episode, I felt his character was more developed that the character of Rick. I mean, the writers gave us more information about this guy in one episode than they ever did about Rick.
I guess Rick was okay though. He was nice and pretty funny. He seemed to love Jo. Maybe if he had been in more episodes before they got married, their marriage would have seemed more rational.

Detective Scott from his one appearance in season 7, when he used OOH as the place to catch an operation going under---which turned out to be old people and counterfeit bus passes.

I know that he was not an "official" love interest but my vote would be for George! Its been years since I saw the later episodes but from what I remember he and Jo seem to have good chemistry together.
