There's no scary parts in Buffy and Angel. Well, naked Spike occasionally...

And all these so-called scary films aren't all that scary anyway. Chitty Chitty Bang Bang got a 'U' certificate for heaven's sake, and everybody knows that the Child Catcher is the scariest thing ever.

Yeuch. Wish she'd gone down with the Titanic alongside Leo. Then we'd have been spared that song!

SPLAIN

She's a great singer, one of the best, but when you see her make those grimaces and speak English, well, she'd better stick to singing!

Mickey
11-27-2003, 11:13 AM
Oh there's no denying she's got a fantastic voice! It's just not one I enjoy listening to. :) Especially given the kind of songs she sings! I would use the throwing up emoticon here, but it's gross so I'll use this one instead.

"My Heart Will Go On". And on. And on. And on. Shut up woman!

Why won't my sig work in this thread? I have to keep adding it the old fashioned way.

Very admirable! Now you see, i LOVE that song and her rendition of it, could listen to it forever! Thought it was the best part of that film!

Mickey
11-27-2003, 01:02 PM
Well it wasn't exactly drowning in rival contenders for best bit of that film, was it! Bad film. Bad song. Bad film. And did I mention bad, bad song?!

All they needed was "Hello Leo."; "Hello Kate."; "Crash."; "Ow."; "Glug glug glug."

End of film. Three and a half hours saved.

Sorry, Titanic fans.

Isn't it nice to finally disagree about something other than Lucy and Desi? I loved the film, the attention to detail, the fact that all those people died because the rich had taken all the boats by the time they got to the little poor people, hey, it was like that back then too! And i thought the song and her rendition of it were very good, it was just that they played it too much on radio afterwards. Until people got sick of it and her! Remember Whitney Houston and The Bodyguard, same thing!

Mickey
11-27-2003, 06:44 PM
Another song I hated! I don't like high-pitched warbling, and I'm not big on ballads anyway. But yes, it was radio play that really killed both of those songs for me though. Like Bryan Adams and Everything I Do (I Do It For You). 16 weeks at number one, and after starting out liking the song I wouldn't have been sad if I'd never heard it again!

You like Titanic then? I found it so slow, especially the first half. The second half was nicely done, and the effects were good. I don't like soppy films much though I'm afraid! :)

That's why we disagree, i love SOPPY films, they help clear my sinuses. I agree about the first half, all we want to see is the part where the boat sinks and the people scurry about trying to save themselves. It is said these days that if they had found a way to get the people ONTO the iceberg, they could have waited there until the OTHER boat arrived four hours later, the Carpathia? sp? I thought i had seen all the best disaster flicks, but this one tops them all, the effects were amazing!

SPLAIN
11-28-2003, 10:28 AM
And that HAUNTING ballad you got so sick of, was perfect for the ending of the film. They made us sick of it like they do today when they start on a celebrity or any other news story, they repeat the same things over so often, it sickens us!

Mickey
11-28-2003, 11:51 AM
It might help if they only release the song when the film comes out, instead of two months before - but I'd have hated that song anyway! :)

I've just been having a discussion about films on another forum, and somebody there is a soppy films fan. Mind you, I'm being mocked there for including Mary Poppins in my top ten list, so I guess I'm not as cynical as I thought! I love that film.

Is that picture of the famous 'reprieve a turkey' ceremony then Lodee? Freaks me out rather, that does. I mean, okay so a turkey gets reprieved. But what about the other candidates? What happens to them? I guess it's all a part of why I turned vegetarian, but if I worked at the White House at this time of year, I'd be sneaking the damn things out over the back wall en masse.
