barwars 11-15-2003, 01:24 PM This episode sounds great!
I really like how they are handling the show.
I hope James Garner sticks around for the entire series.
He's a good character, and he's not replacing Paul.
ShannonQT85 11-16-2003, 07:08 PM i went to the taping for this episode on Friday..its gonna be a good episode so i hope everyone watches it :)
That's cool! How was the taping? Did you happen to see what kind of camera's they use?
ShannonQT85 11-16-2003, 11:17 PM The taping was a lot of fun! :) and yes i saw the cameras obviously although i dont know what type they were..big lol. anyways I went once before in december when John was there and he was so cool and so nice. Anyways I acutally told a few of my friends about it in an e-mail so i pasted and copied what i told them here so you guys could know what happened so here:
i thought it would be weird without John cuz last time i went he was soo fun and entertaining. This time you could tell he was definitely missing and it showed on the casts faces but they still made it a lot of fun being there. Oh and Kayley's boyfriend was sitting in front of me.. he was hot and i guess he's an actor too and was on smallville last week. Kayley talked to him a few times throughout the taping. anyways the taping began with them introducing the cast as a family instead of individually and the crew bringing out a HUGE cake to celebrate the director James' birthday and also Kayley's birthday who's is later this month and she looked soooo surprised and we all sung to them. And Katey Sagal put her arms around Kayley sorta teary-eyed and was like make a good wish hunny and kayley put her hands together and prayed and looked up and said "john." it was so sad and then her and James blew out the candles together. It was really cool. But the cast broke down a little especially Kayley and Amy. anyways after that the taping began. I'll try to remember as much as i can. I know after i watch the episode on tv i'll remember more. They shot a scene with Rory and his grandfather. Rory was putting fire in the fireplace and lol james garner could not get his lines. it took like 3 different times. After he messed up he was like, "i knew i messed up before i began!" and laughed and another time he said, "Sh*t!" lol he was so funny. And theres another scene where Cate was talking to her son rory about him wanting to be like the man of the house and he tells her that he wanted to protect his sisters and keep them from becoming "fat whores" and lol omg.. us in the audience couldnt stop laughing!!!! it was too funny! u have to see it! and sincw us in the audience couldnt stop laughing..they couldnt say their next lines and this laughing went on for like over a minute and Martin who plays Rory looked down at his watch as a joke cuz we hadn't stopped and broke out laughing and so did Katey Sagal and that made us all laugh louder lol. And the guy who entertains the audience in between takes, Micheal, was saying how it made the cast feel so good cuz they didnt know how the audience would react without john and stuff so that was cool making them all smile. And let's see..oh theres a scene where Katey said, "bridget let go of your brother!" and kayley let go of him but Amy wouldnt let go and she smiled cuz Katey forgot to say "Girls let your of your brother" instead she said just bridget lol. and theres a scene in the girls' bedroom and kayley forgot her line which was funny there and then when she comes down the stairs she kept getting those messed up cuz she has to talk to fast you know? lol it was funny. and theres a funny part where rory asks kyle to play football with him and he opens the door is telling kyle go long! go long! and he shuts the door. And yeah theres a lot going on in the episode! and the outakes and bloopers were hilarious! oh and at the end where they introduce the cast again and have us clap and stuff..everyone came out and lol martin (rory) came out during James Garner's entrance lol. His face was priceless lol then he ran back to the girls and they laughed at him and the comedian was like.."yup..james sure looks good for his age!" and then james came out lol and then the girls, martin (who had his hands on his face embarassed lol) and katey came out as a family again. Basically is was about their first thanksgiving without their dad and rory wanting to be the man of the house. The girls on the show also didnt want to have a normal thanksgiving and wanted to go to a party instead. The taping was a little over 2 hours this time and fun as always! i definitely want to go again. Some tapings u go to..its not fun but 8 simple rules is always fun and the people are so nice they give you food (muffins from costco! lol) and water bottles and they entertain you the whole time. It was definitely a good time and this is going to be a great episode.
I hope everyone continues to watch!
Freakzilla 11-17-2003, 02:42 PM Great story! I hope lots of people continue to watch, too. It's good to know that they're having a good time doing the show and the audience is having a good time as well.
Thanks for the low-down! Fat-whores??? LOL! That definitely doesn't sound like Rory...anyway, where is the show shot? I know a ton of sitcoms are shot at Paramount, and I'm not sure if there's other studios...?
What other tapings have you been to? I have personally never gone, but my brother did go to see an ep of "3rd Rock" taped, and said it was 3 hours and sort of boring. It surprised me because that is such a hysterical show! I want to see tapings of Good Morning, Miami and 8SR...someday...:)
Raven-Symone 11-18-2003, 01:41 AM cool, can't wait to see it.
ShannonQT85 11-18-2003, 04:40 PM bb25-yeah some tv tapings are VERY boring depending on what show it is and how they treat the audience and all. I've been to 8 simple rules tapings twice..i'm definitely going again though! and i saw some other show a few years ago but i dont remember the name of the show but i didnt like that one! anyways 8 simple rules is taped at the Walt Disney Studios in Burbank, CA..go to www.tvtickets.com for more info...and its free yay :D

I hope you won't watch American Idol then. It isnt on till January, and when its on, I just tape 8 Simple Rules in another room. I only missed 2 episodes last season, so AI isnt really affecting how i watch 8SR. :)

It's the enemy. I hope it doesn't do well, like how "The Next Joe Millionaire" is bombing.
David 11-19-2003, 06:49 PM You have a point, but if 8SR starts dipping too low, a time slot change is an option. (but i dont think 8SR will drop that low)
Mariel 11-25-2003, 09:54 PM The episode just finished airing here. It was definitely a good one...especially the last half. The part that made me laugh the most was when Rory said, "I was afraid they were gonna turn into big, fat whores." LOL.
I felt my heart stop when they all sat down and Cate looked in front of her and realized Paul wasn't there. It was just an empty chair. :( But the writers livened up the mood by having Rory carve the turkey. Hehe.
LiLGhost76 11-27-2003, 10:25 AM LOL! That was the funniest episode ever!
*Pleasant Tomorrow* 11-30-2003, 04:51 PM I only got to see half of it, but it was pretty funny from what I saw
Thanks for that link, TV Tickets! I had no clue this show was taped at Walt Disney in Burbank, or that Whoopi and Hope & Faith were done in NY!! That's cool...
ShannonQT85 12-03-2003, 11:36 PM ^^no prob :)
