I guess because Lifetime said they are not making anymore new Unsolved Mysteries (hopefully they will change their minds in the future!) they don't bother to update even the most notorious cases!!

A couple months ago they had a case on The Unabomber Ted Kacyznski YET THE NEVER MENTIONED HE HAD BEEN ARRESTED AND SENTENCED YEARS AGO!!

They also had a show fairly recently about the Atlanta Olympic bombings and Eric Robert Rudolph BUT THEY NEVER MENTIONED HE WAS CAUGHT EITHER!!

Isn't that upsetting when they don't even maintaing the integrity of the show by keeping us informed of the latest developments?

I don't think Lifetime gives a rats butt since Robert Stack died. If it was up to them, they would have destroyed all the UM episodes by now. It's only us viewers that are keeping it on the air.

i love UM as much as anyone else but it can't surprise people that "they" don't update Um anymore.

if you controlled the show, would you fork over a bunch of money to update cases when it isn't going to make you *any* money? yes, i wish they did update them but we can't make it seem like a horrible miscarriage of justice that these eps are not updated as many are from the 1980s.

just my $0.02.

Alot of the updates were just some typewritten explanation of the latest facts on the case. I don't think that costs anything. They don't need to film anything, just a quick blip. Cheap, simple and it would make viewers happy.

Yeah, and it's not like it's a novel concept - UM has done it before. These are the ones that I know they've done it:

-When the Paducah, KY John Doe (who fell from a plane) was identified 8 years later.
-When Phil Kramer's body was found 4 years after telling a 911 operator he was going to kill himself and then disappeared.
-When rogue doctor Michael Swango was arrested and convicted.
-When an arrest was made in the 1985 murders of the Georgia minister and his wife nearly 15 years later (this was from a very early episode - maybe #4 or #5).

I wouldn't doubt that there are others too.

Another one that comes to mind is the little girl model Shafaa, whose middle eastern father took her to his country. She found her way to an american embassy and was reunited with her mother. I was very worried about her because she was beautiful and her father made her keep her face covered.

yeah, even a worded message for an update would be great but it is still very expensive to do the research, create the type and then re-cut the show so it fits in an hour with the update (as other parts need to be edited out). my girlfriend worked on movies, videos, commercials, etc. for years in hollywood. she said even something simple like those updates is so expensive you wouldn't believe it. anyone else in the industry have some insight here?

Someone on the other board posted a picture of how Shafaa looks now and I thought you guys might like to see. Very pretty:

She'd be 25 now. Very pretty lady!

The Helms School of Government (As shown in the background of her picture) prepares students to understand and articulate the Biblical Christian sources of our religious, economic, and political liberties, and equip them to become Christ-centered leaders, able to apply God’s Word in every area of life.

So obviously she followed her mother's path as a devout Christian. She probably cut her father out of her life entirely thankfully.
