I'm not sure I get it about Ruthie being jealous of Cecilia. I guess it's believable, but they didn't play it out enough to tell since Ruthie is so involved with Peter.
Why are they adding yet another unneeded character, Martin?
Do you like Chandler with Peter's mother?

Do you like Chandler with Peter's mother? I agree, Ruthie's jealously seemed to come out of nowhere. They needed to set it up a little better. For example, Ruthie saw Annie and Cecelia together and felt left out, or Ruthie offered to help and Annie told her Cecelia already did. Something so it didn't seem so out of the blue.
And talk about unneeded characters, Cecelia and her storyline just continue to irk me. Warning, bit rant coming up. Sorry everyone, I know I've said this before but everything about her bugs me. If you like her, just don't read this paragraph. Who on earth has to tell their ex-boyfriend's parents when they're dating someone new? What?? Why does Martin care at all? Does that mean I need to be calling up all my ex-boyfriends' parents to let them know when I have a new boyfriend. For that matter, who still talks to their ex-boyfriends parents? Unless you are friends with the family first, or good friends with one of the siblings, does anyone remain close with their ex's family? I certainly don't have contact with any of my ex-boyfriends family because it would be WEIRD! I know it's just a TV show but it is just so weirdly unrealistic. If it was interesting, I wouldn't mind it being unrealistic (what TV show isn't?) but I don't care about Cecelia because she has nothing to do with the Camdens. And the girl who plays her can't act and is completely unconvincing. Again sorry for the rant, I know there are people who like her so I don't want to offend anyone, it's just I had to get that off my chest. (And maybe hoping there is at least one other person who feels the way I do.)
Otherwise, I liked the episode. Here are my thoughts:
I liked the softball montage set to "Centerfield" because I like that song. I was glad Lucy stuck up for herself. A husband/wife softball game should be about having fun together, not about winning. If they were so into winning they should just join the competitive league. But why did Kevin put Lucy at first base, which is a key position, when he knows she isn't very good? He should have put her at centerfield and hey, it would have fit the song.
I thought Peter befriending the recovering alcoholic was nice and we got to learn that Peter's dad was also an alcoholic.
Don't know how I feel about Chandler and Peter's mom. At first I liked the idea but tonight they seemed weird together. I am tired of the back and forth between Chandler and Roxanne. They've flipped from loving each other to not so many times I've lost count.

I missed last night's episode.
Who is Martin?
Why was Ruthie jealous? Did Cecila do something and somehow Ruthie because jealous?
I was in the middle of doing homework and when I realized the time, it was over. Martin is a new neighbor who they introduced many episodes ago. I wonder why he wasn't at the block party last week? On this ep he was dating Cecelia and trying to help Lucy learn to play softball.
Apparently, Ruthie was jealous that Cecelia was helping the family out because Ruthie wanted to be helping the family instead. Basically Ruthie felt ignored with Cecelia around but that storyline wasn't developed very well.

Yes, good posts...I totally agree...Ruthie's jealousy literally came out of nowhere...
Ruthie has always been one of the most independent kids you could imagine... Her sisters are both several years older than her, so she never took part in their activities... She and Simon were inseparable in the shows early episodes, but soon Simon had his own friends...
Ruthie has always been able to be happy and content just being by herself...and now that she has a boyfriend, all of a sudden she craves Annie's attention?? Doesn't make sense...
BTW, Lynn ..I totally agree about Cecilia...I mean, you gotta give Ruthie credit for being annoyed with Cecilia...I too, have been annoyed with her ever since she first appeared on the show...she can not act at all, her voice is totally annoying (will somebody PLEASE remind her to clear her throat before she speaks??!!!?!!) And it's just a little too strange that she's still hanging out with her ex-boyfriend's family...
And Jen1982, you can't let homework stand in the way of watching 7th Heaven!!! For too many years, homework has messed up TV watching...someone needs to put a stop to this...I'll speak to your teachers about it in the morning..
Also, Lynn, Martin first appeared in an episode in which he spent the day at the Camden house, and everyone assumed he was a friend of Simon's, even though he wasn't... It was actually pretty funny...shows that anyone can walk in there, and the family would never know the difference...I mean, he spent the entire day there...sitting in the living room, watching TV...even hung out with Ruthie, Cecelia, SamandDavid, Kevin, everyone!
Peter's actually turning out to be a pretty cool kid...sort of reminds me of Simon at that age... I don't know about Chandler and Pete's mom, either...I don't think I really like that idea...
