I personally found the episode titled"Archie Is Branded",where a big black swastika had been painted on the front door, the most intense episode next to Edith,s rape episode. All four characters[Archie,Edith,Mike and Gloria]seemed freaked out in a state of terror.Especially when Gloria screams her head off when she thinks a small package that Archie recieves is ticking.[It,s actually a box of cigars. The ticking really being Edith,s wrist watch.]The mood of that episode was so intense.Pretty scary.Especially the ending, where a person who had paid them a visit[I can,t quite remember who he was supposed to be]is heard getting blown up in his car.Not to mention, where we always heard applause from the studio audience at the end of an episode, while viewing the exterior of the Bunker house, this episode ended in dead silence.Freaky.

Yes! That episode freaked me out too, No matter how many times i've seen it. Incidentally, Paul Benjamin was the guy's name (played by Gregory Sierra--Chano on Barney Miller, El Puerco on Soap).

Also, The episode "Edith's 50th Birthday", the scene where Archie leaves the house not knowing that the attacker is in the closet and Edith is pleading with him not to go and the scene where she's running out of the kitchen and out the front door and they freeze-frame her as she's running off the porch.

Yes!Those are definetly both truly moving and frightening episodes. Many All In The Family episodes set an example of how dangerous New York City is.A mighty realistic sitcom.
