Local News is the original reality TV. I used to love the old days of WPIX in NYC where Steve Bosh and Pat Harper were the anchors!!

No. I very seldom watch the local news. Sometimes I tune into CNN but it's been nothing but bad news lately.

I used to watch it daily, once upon a time. But in recent years the answer is "No." Frankly I became quite annoyed at watching their "talking heads." And around here, news reporters switch stations as frequently as professional athletes change teams. It's hard to develop a familiar feel for any one particular news team anymore.

I listen to our local news radio station ("you give us 22 minutes, we'll give you the world") every weekday in the mornings as I prepare for work. Evenings and weekends it's all hit-and-miss. Sometimes I tune in to either TV or radio for the news, but it's not anything routine.

For world news I often tune in to CNN, or check various online news sites.

I usually don't read the local news, mostly because the only it's about are the schools, but sometimes I read it.

Well, where I live, most of the time, nothing of interest ever happens(outside of a murder or car accident). I usually only watch the local weather and sometimes sports(on Friday Night for high school scores) otherwise, not really.

I don't watch it anymore, because it's usually biased fluff these days. Instead, I get my news from a local alternative weekly.

Yeah, it does get depressing when children are involved. I used to watch it every night. But, like you, it really started depressing me, maybe scaring me is more like it. With all the drug rings and murders, burglurys, rapes, all kinds of crap happening out here.

I find the local news in San Diego, quite boring, I generally either watch the local LA stations or Headline News

In general I think local TV news has gone downhill because it has become so unappealing to watch these days. Take for example if you watch any local TV news the first big story is usually about crimes and I have never figured out what makes crime stories big stories for local TV news? My guess is that the stations see these stories as big moneymakers for local TV news. Second in the entertainment news you do not hear any happy Hollywood stories being talked about on local TV news and it seems that the only entertainment news that local TV news seems to have a mega obsession with is celebrity deaths or celebrities that have illnesses and why celebrity deaths and celebrity health stories seem to have become popular entertainment news on local TV news I will never also figure out at all? It used to be that local TV news would cover topics like movie reviews and celebrities that had new babies and that was how entertainment news would work on local TV news. It also seems that sports reports are becoming huge moneymakers for any local TV news because I think in all honesty sports has a lot of news topics and the stations see this as giant amounts of money to market sports teams and even local high school and college sports get hyped up too. But the one thing that has made local TV news very profitable is the weather reports and you can see how advanced weather reports have become for local TV news because they show a mini weather report before the local TV newscast begins and it's a smart idea. But I really think in a couple years local TV news will disappear and be replaced with game shows or talk shows and local TV news will soon be on streaming apps on TVs in the future ahead

In these days…no, not frequently everyday. It’s not much of the same level as it were from 1980 to 2003 nationwide when it was at its very peak.
