One thing that fascinated me about this series, was the numerous changes of scenery that took place over the course of the series. From the Eastland house,to the Eastland cafeteria,to Edna,s Edibles,to Over Our Heads.Incredible.I suppose that is partly how the show got it,s name. After all, changes are among the facts of life. However, one thing that never changed, was the town and state setting. The characters always lived in Peekskill/New York.My two favourite settings would be Eastland cafeteria and Edna,s Edibles. It seemed even Blair and Jo managed to be the best of friends during that period, compared to later on.I found that show really went down hill after Mrs.Garret left.Nothing against Cloris Leachman,s character Beverly Ann,but it was never the same without Mrs.Garret.She seemed to be the glue that kept the show together.I suppose by the show,s last season, there was a feeling that it was time to move on.Which would be another fact of life.

I think Beverly Ann is funnier than Mrs.Garret, and seasons 7-9 are better than the rest.

Season 8 was the best. It had some of the best episodes of the series. 7 Little Indians was the best episode and the one where Nat and Tootie get their own room in the attic and Blair falls through that wall was probably the funniest scene in the whole series. Season 9, however, sucked, and they should have pulled the plug at the end of season 8.

I'm quite partial to seasons 1-7, when Mrs. Garrett was there, but perhaps that's just me.

I think it's a good test for sitcom(or any show for that matter) to go through so many changes and still "land on it's feet" so to speak. Of course, sometimes, a change is NEEDED to KEEP the series from failing (i.e.-the cast cut between seasons 1 and 2). Anywho, I enjoy Mrs. Garrett and her seasons.

I think that's why the FOL tried with so many things like different characters like Andy, George, and Pippa, as well as different locales. And that's why, for its time, it was the longest running sitcom on prime time television.

Not that this has anything to do with anything, but:

Incoming PM message!!!!:bye:

I prefer the seasons with Mrs. Garrett (she was my favorite part of the show)

but the 8th season was great as well.
I think the show should've come back for a 10th season.
With Blair running Eastland.
And all the girls realizing its time to move on with their lives.... until Mrs. Garrett returns....

Well said my friend! I would have loved to see BLAIR run Eastland (she had grown & matured so much by then) with the little help of MRS. G s return.....
After all, even though they were young adults by then, i felt they could use advise from time to time from MRS. G who practically raised them. They all had such great chemistry & i m sure they could never relate to BEVERLY ANN (no offense to CLORIS LEAHMAN) the way they did to MRS. G.

One heartfelt moment in season eight is when Beverly Ann adopted Andy.
