View Full Version : Lucy Tape You Play The Most?
SPLAIN 11-06-2003, 04:55 PM What Lucy show do you play the most often? Or movie, or guest shot, whatever? My top ten lately include The Variety Clubs gala, the Martin roast, The Big Street, Mame, Lucy calls the President, Carol Plus two, The Lucy show with Dean Martin, The Here's Lucy show with Ginger Rogers, I Love Lucy Hollywood Anniversary and Life with Lucy with Audrey Meadows.
Lodee 11-06-2003, 04:59 PM So you post it on the I Love Lucy board and out of all the ones you play the most only ONE is an I Love Lucy episode?
What happened to Fur Coat? You gave up on it? The one I probably play the most is Drafted.
SPLAIN 11-06-2003, 05:22 PM Good point, i swear it was only because the boards were so quiet, it scared me for a minute there, so i repeated that thread from Lucy Talk just to have something to post, and i named DIFFERENT things from what ordinarily always gets named, just off the top of my head, I WAS DESPERATE I TELL YA! But you're right, i forgot all about The Fur Coat, take of The Life with Lucy one and put that one on instead.
Lodee 11-06-2003, 05:25 PM I WAS DESPERATE I TELL YA! You crack me up.
SPLAIN 11-06-2003, 05:29 PM Yeah, i have that effect on women, . . . especially in bed! LOL! Just joking, please don't kick me off, i just wanted to make a funny, i swear i'll be good from now on, well, i never was before, why should i start now?
Amber8611 11-06-2003, 05:29 PM The two wonderful tapes that Claude made for me, The Big Street, Mame, Dance Girl Dance, Yours Mine and Ours, A Girl a Guy and a Gob, the Annabel movies, Panama Lady, The Dean Martin Roast, Lucy and Desi a Home Movie, Lucy in London, What Now Catherine Curtis, and every episode of all of Lucy's shows that I own. :happyface
Lodee 11-06-2003, 05:31 PM Amber, you have to name at least ONE I Love Lucy episode!!!
SPLAIN 11-06-2003, 05:32 PM That's gotta be a couple of hundred or more, you're cheating!
Amber8611 11-06-2003, 05:39 PM LOL! I know, but I seriously watch all of those over and over and over, lol. The I Love Lucy episodes that I watch the most are probably "Lucy Gets in Pictures," "Lucy is Enciente," and "Ricky Thinks He's Getting Bald." For The Lucy Show it's "Lucy is a Chaperone," "Lucy Buys a Sheep" and "Lucy and the Monsters." :)

Kazza 11-06-2003, 07:33 PM I watch THE HANDCUFFS and have watched the DINER twice. I like those a lot
MagsLovesLucy 11-06-2003, 09:03 PM The tape that gets played the most currently is the wonderful one that Claude sent me. :D :D As for ILL episodes, the ones I've been playing the most recently are "Tennesse Bound," "Lucy is Enciente," "Ricky Asks for a Raise," "The Star Upstairs," "Lucy Wants New Furniture," and a lot of the first season episodes. For movies it's probably "A Girl, A Guy, & A Gob," "The Long, Long Trailer," "Sorrowful Jones," "Yours, Mine, and Ours," and "The Fuller Brush Girl." I also love watching "Lucy and Desi: A Home Movie," "Babalu Music!," and then from The Lucy Show, I love "Lucy and George Burns," "Viv Visits Lucy," "Lucy and Viv Install a Shower," "Lucy Gets a Roomate," and "Lucy's Barbershop Quartet."
I know that's a lot, but honestly, I could watch every Lucy tape I own over and over and over again, and usually I do! :happyface
SPLAIN 11-07-2003, 11:20 AM That's true, i watch this stuff as i make copies, and i saw The Home Movie again, that one's so goooooooooooooooood, and Desilu is great, and The Travel channel one and so many more.
LucyFan 11-07-2003, 11:48 PM For The Lucy Show, I usually watch the episodes that I enjoy the most such as "Lucy the Bean Queen" (#112), ect.
For Here's Lucy, I just watch any given episodes of a randomly selected tape. Same goes for I Love Lucy.
In general, I try to watch episodes that I haven't seen within the passed three to four months. I am not one of those fans that likes to watch an episode constantly over and over again to the point where you have the entire thing memorized. That just takes all of the enjoyment out of me. To avoid seeing the same episodes, I tend to go by watching all of her series in episode order (ILL: 1 to 179; TLDCH: 1 to 13; TLS: 1 to 156; HL: 1 to 144; LWL: 1 to 13).
Amber8611 11-10-2003, 02:06 AM I do that too! Then I start watching all of her movies in chronological order. It works because sometimes I tend to watch some episodes or movies more than others, but I try to have them all get equal playing time.
SPLAIN 11-10-2003, 11:09 AM Are you sure Lucy did that many shows, then why on those tributes do they always show the SAME ones? LOL!
Lodee 11-10-2003, 02:53 PM That's still bugging you???
SPLAIN 11-10-2003, 03:03 PM Yes, if i see that getting ready for the hospital scene one more time, i might pop a blood vessel and have to go there myself! But i fully understand the 75th anniversary show had to present that one as that was one of the highest ratings CBS ever saw at that time, but the OTHER tribute shows could diversify, i think Lucy had a few other great scenes that would do the job.
Lodee 11-10-2003, 03:15 PM Yes, if i see that getting ready for the hospital scene one more time, i might pop a blood vessel and have to go there myself! Question is, would a real Lucy fan pop a blood vessel over one of her show???? I don't know about you.
Kazza 11-10-2003, 03:42 PM He would; trust me:D
SPLAIN 11-10-2003, 04:02 PM It would pop out of frustration with the morons who DO these tribute shows and lack imagination, not because of our Lady of Desilu!
crazyredhead 11-10-2003, 04:36 PM I think there should be a Home Movies II. I'm dying to see more home movies of them and I know there's more! Anyone want to talk to Lucie about it? lol
SPLAIN 11-10-2003, 05:18 PM She's on the other line, what would you like me to tell her? Seriously, i totally agree, maybe the best documentary i ever saw on Lucy and the gang. And a sequel would be terrific!
Mickey 11-10-2003, 05:37 PM Some of these stars have terrific home movies, but they want to keep some of it private! There's an episode of Diagnosis Murder which shows a wonderful few minutes of footage of Dick and Barry van Dyke clowning about many years ago. These things don't often turn up though. They stay in the family vaults.
SPLAIN 11-10-2003, 05:52 PM It's a shame because it humanizes them, when you see a real picture of Henry Fonda with Jane in On Golden Pond, it temporarily distracts yes, but it's so much better than a doctored photo! Even Lucie Arnaz herself was incredulous at seing her parents who were always fighting show a totally different side at that point of their lives.

Kazza 11-10-2003, 07:41 PM That's not a bad idea. Let's make DESI and Lucy even more human than what they were. There should be a sequel to the home movies . Let's all email LUCIE to see what she says; maybe she'll start ranting in Spanish; "mira que tiene cosa"...
SPLAIN 11-11-2003, 10:34 AM Seriously, there IS enough material for a sequel and the first one DID get an Emmy award!
crazyredhead 11-11-2003, 06:21 PM Right on!! I'm soo glad they filmed the home movies of themselves and their kids..the first time I watched it, I was soo shocked and amazed! It made me feel like how they were and stuff, like they were more real, not the Ricardos..It was really cool, yes, I hope they do make a Home Movies II and the quality probably would be even more better because the first one was made 10 years ago, things have changed. :)
SPLAIN 11-12-2003, 10:02 AM I dun't understand what you mean, they would have to use the same home movies!
MagsLovesLucy 11-12-2003, 04:46 PM I think she means that technology has changed over the past almost-10 years, so I guess things would be more "advanced." There's still also probably tons of home movies that weren't used. :)
crazyredhead 11-12-2003, 06:19 PM Yeah, you know how it seems kinda 'past'? Like not as..Bah! I can't explain it!
SPLAIN 11-13-2003, 10:14 AM But how could they change the stuff, you mean with computer technology, hey, maybe they could use that on the shows and actually be able to take out the spank . . . NEVER MIND!
Kazza 11-13-2003, 01:41 PM If they re- do those movies with today's tech; they won't be the same:( ; that old feeling is what makes them special. When they take out the spanking and the 'yes, sir' and the smoking and everything else then it wont be ILL.

SPLAIN 11-14-2003, 11:16 AM Darlin, if you haven't learned by now, i would do anything for any kind of joke or laugh, the world is in dire needs of THAT! I will put myself down, tell risquee jokes, anything, that will get a laugh! We're honoring a comedy show, so it fits!
Lodee 11-14-2003, 11:44 AM Whatever..........I was just kidding anyway.
SPLAIN 11-14-2003, 02:12 PM I know you were, but i wanted to tell everybody anyway, because sometimes my risquee comments are taken the wrong way, i just wanna laugh, you know! And this place seems more adult than the other boards!
