The general atmosphere of Archie Bunker,s Place, was so different from that of All In The Family.Inspite of Archie still living in the same old house, his housemates were now his two teenaged nieces Billie and Stephanie.Big difference from Edith,Mike and Gloria.Quieter for one thing.Though the series was set in the same nieghborhood,it was a very different world from All In The Family. But I suppose part of the reason being a different era.By the time All In The Family had been renamed Archie Bunker,s Place, the 1970s drew to a close. Not to mention Edith passed on.I still liked the series anyway.I think my favourite character by that time was Veronica. With All In The Family currently in reruns where I live,I,ve videotaped a whole series of episodes, and added them to my ever expanding vhs library. However I haven,t Archie Bunker,s Place in syndication in years.I wouldn,t mind adding those episodes to my collection as well.

The little girl changed the whole dynamics of the show.. Danille Brisbois was not attractive as a kid...and so bringing her in, brought new viewrs, children to identify with her.. :)

Archie was much more quieter and he was beginning to accept people of different races and also not as bad as he used to be. Where with in AITF, he was a sexist, racist, facist, bigot, against every African, Asian, Latino, Jews, etc. It didn't seem as bad back then but now if you said derogatory comments, you would get a fatlip!!

This is real nit-picky geek stuff, but did anyone notice how once Edith died, the lighting at the Bunker home changed?
On All In The Family and the first season as ABP, it was always very bright, but once Edith left, it was always darker.
I wondered if that was the producers or writers' way of indicating that things had changed.

Good observation Dr.Thong.I noticed the very same thing. But I never thought of it quite that way.It makes sense though. The Bunker home was never the same without Edith.Another thing I once noticed in one of the last episodes of ABP,was how the Bunker kitchen appeared to have had a complete makeover. It looked so modern and up-to-date.Barely recognizable from it's original appearance.Maybe there was an episode I had missed, where they had redone the kitchen.I know that in later AITF episodes,Edith had put up lovely red rose wallpaper onto the livingroom walls.Which explained why the livingroom walls looked quite different in later seasons.
