Cate is unprepared for the diverse reactions exhibited by Bridget and Kerry on their first day back to school since their father's death. Meanwhile, Jim tries his best to be helpful by making some questionable home improvements to the Hennessy home.

I just saw the preview. It seems funny...at least from that one scene they showed where Cate tells the girls that it's time for them to get back to doing normal things, then she unknowingly puts mayo in her drink.

Me too!! Parts of it made me cry again...I can't help it...I'm such a big sap...The scene that got to me was when Bridget was about to leave for the dance in that red dress, and she started crying when she got to the door and she was saying that her dad wouldn't have approved of the dress she was wearing, at all. *sigh*

Yes! I thought tonights episode was real good. How the kids were coping regarding there fathers death... I liked how Bridget handled her feelings when she wore the dress that her father knew wouldn't approve of. That was a emotional moment for me in that episode.

That scene got to me, too. That was the most touching part of the episode. At first, I didn't know what Bridget meant when she said, "I've never gotten this far."

Yeah, that was sad :(

I really liked this episode, though, they did a good job.

I did real well through the episode until the front door...when she stopped and said she had never gotten that far. I said "her dad would have never let her leave like that" and my daughter didn't understand what I meant, until they said it on TV.

I think they are doing a great job thus far.

Kudos to the actors and the writers.

Very nice episode!! I was impressed. It was funny in some ways, but it added that rememberance.

Personally, I don't like Bridget all that much.
But it was a great episode, IMO.

I hope the grandfather makes more appearances after his first 4 shows.... he and Rory work good together.

Yeah, I agree, they did a good job of being funny without being disrespectful and/or unrealistic as far as the kind of mood the characters would be in. All in all, a great episode!

I also agree that Rory and James Garner work well together, I'd love to see him stick around.

Yes, Garner should stick around because Rory needs a male role model to look up to.

Same hear, crying like a baby. My husband just shook his head at me. I told him, it's not just the show, you can tell they're crying for real, they're not just acting. I think that's what hits me the most. How sad. :(

I still can't believe it, and it's been 2 months to the day. How sad is that. :(

what a great epi. I was watching it last night and just was overwhelmed by the emotion. It's so hard to deal with such a loss. I just keep thinking what if that was me who lost my hubby or father. I wouldn't be able to deal with it. The sadest part was when Bridget was gonna go out in that red dress and she knew her dad would have said something... :crying:

john ritter was one of my favourite all time tv personalities... if not my favourite. i remember being in elementry school and running home to watchin episodes of threes company. i remember spending whole summers waking up every morning jus to watch threes company. im only 20, threes company was in sydication even before i was born... ritter was great, and i still cant believe he is gone.. it was one of the saddest days in my recent memory when he died.
anyway, i watched last nights episode and i was wondering what was the song they played at the end of the show at the dance? at first i thought it was something by 'no doubt' but im not so sure. does anyone know it?

It was a good episode. I liked the part where Cate was trying to talk to both Bridget and Kerry when they were in different rooms. She was trying to talk to Bridget about acting her acting so happy and Kerry because she was so upset. They got a bit confused when she switched from one to the other. The episode was funny and sad.

There's a review in Entertainment Weekly this week. Ken Tucker gives the show a C- and says that if ABC wanted to honor John Ritter's legacy they should have ended the show. I think Ken should have watch one or two more episodes before writing his review. But it doesn't matter, because viewers always trump critics.

I think the fact that the show went on it was a tribute to John. He would have wanted them to go on. The show also helps people to see how you deal with a loss of a loved one.

It was another great episode. The writers and cast are handling this better than I could have imagined. It had the right amount of funny moments but not too many and the scene with Bridget at the door was touching and well done

Bravo *claps*

I watched the episode and recorded it. I also expected to see John walking in. What I found weird was that Rory talking heart-to-heart iwth the grandpa. He wouldn't really do that with Paul but more so just say funny one-liners. It's as though, he's gotten softer. I don't know. That was my take. It was a weird change...

It was also very sad with Bridget wearing the dress and crying because Paul would never allow her to do that.... So true... :(

Unfortunately I missed the episode. My cable went out on Sunday, and I can't even get the network stations. Judging by all your guys' reactions though, it sounds like it was a great episode. Hopefully I'll catch it in Summer repeats.
