View Full Version : Who would you have dinner with when you go to heaven?
8SRLVR 11-04-2003, 11:19 PM Hey, postees! It's been 2 months since I last came here...still coping on John's passing...But it's great to be back...somewhat...Anyways, I saw tonight's episode and I got me thinking...Fred Doyle said that When he goes to the great beyond, He'd have dinner with his dead parents, Jesus, and Mother Teresa, (now accompanied by the late great Paul Hennessy). So who would you have dinner with when you go to heaven?
My response: John Ritter, Dale Earnhardt, and my grandparents.
MandieR1980 11-05-2003, 12:21 AM 1) My great grandmother
2) My uncle Robbie (he died at age 32 and I was 4 so I don't remember him at all)
3) Patsy Cline
4) John Ritter
5) Chris Farley
6) Aaliyah
7) Selena
It's gonna be a big dinner LOL
Montanya427 11-05-2003, 03:04 AM Would you really have picked John Ritter if this post was asked and he was old and his death was not untimely when he died?
I would have my parents, my son, and my grandparents. I dont need to eat with the celebrities. I enjoy watching there work but I am not going to disregard my friends and family that were here with me physically and mentally during my time on earth to eat with some celebrity that I never knew beyond their acting and/or music or whatever fame they were recongnized for.
All you people can get mad or whatever......but I have read many if not all posts on this site and never did any of you go gaga for John Ritter when he was alive or act like he was the greatest till he died. I never once saw so many people become a celeb's number one fan so fast. You all mean to tell me that no other person on TV has ever compared to John Ritter? I am not disrespecting him and I did enjoy his work but he was not God, he was a person who most of us only now from TV or movies. Those are characters that he played well and he may have very well been liked by all but c'mon when did you become this BIG Ritter fan?
Where were all the posts about N@N changing their 3's schedule before he died, if you were such a big fan and think he should be on TV all the time on all shows how come it wasnt till after his death that posts are popping up with arguments of time changes and show dealings? If you loved him so dearly when he was alive then why no outrage at the industry for not recognizing him more for his talent and strengths when he was alive? Do you people need something to attach yourselves too?
Montanya427 11-05-2003, 03:08 AM PS I am not downing you for asking this question or if you are really a fan but the ones out there know who they are that have only truely become fans after his death. If you truely are a fan and always have been GREAT but those people who are just starting to be a fan for their own morbid reasons know who they are and they are the ones that are going to get pissed at what I said, cause those are the ones who have to prove their loyolty to the star.

True.
MandieR1980 11-05-2003, 03:19 AM Just because someone never posted about John before his death doesn't mean that they weren't fans of him. I loved him in The Problem Child movies when he was on The Cosby Show and some others and I started watching 8 Simple Rules because he was in it and I never missed an episode.
PZelda 11-05-2003, 03:50 AM Definitely my cousin that died when I was 14 in 1999. She was my godmother as well, and I miss her very dearly (she was only 30 when she died).
BTW, I've been a fan of John for a long time -- I loved his Problem Child movies, I watched TC in syndication while growing up & I was going to write to him to ask for an autographed pic three weeks before he passed on. :(

pilotguy 11-06-2003, 08:09 AM Not to be picky here...and this doesn't just apply to this message thread.....but many times I hear people talk about all of the famous people that they're going to meet when they die and go to heaven.....
What makes anyone think that they're going to actually be able to MEET these famous dead people when they GET to heaven?
Just because you'll be in the same general place as those celebrities doesn't mean that you'll be able to meet and "pal around" with them.
After all, when those celebrities were alive, they were here on earth right along with you, and you didn't socialize with...or even get to MEET....most of them, did you?
I think that when we get to heaven, our social circle will be similar to the one that we have here on earth (family, personal friends, etc.).

I AM a lot of fun at parties....in fact, when I die and go to heaven I plan on going out drinking with Jackie Gleason, W.C. Fields, John Barrymore and Sinatra's "Rat Pack"!
As I mentioned in my earlier message, my comments didn't necessarily pertain to THIS thread (you're right, it IS a fun "what if?" topic)...but I HAVE known people who give a LOT of SERIOUS thought of who they will try to meet in heaven....almost as if they're making up a guest list for a wedding reception!

Of course! Lol...
wolf paws 11-11-2003, 06:11 PM I have always been a fan of John Ritter's work(of what I've seen), but I have to say that ever since his passing, I've been trying to catch glimpses of him on TV. Sometimes it just happens that way. Like this saying goes, "You never know what you have until it's gone." Which unfortunately I never wrote John or met him, and that makes me mad that I didn't, but at least I have memories from TV to remember him by:) I would want to have dinner in heaven with:
1. my other twin sister who passed away when she was just six days old
2. my great-grandmother Pat
3. my brother who passed away two years ago
4. my friend, Danielle
5. my friend, Trevor
6. John Ritter because he was a great actor that shared so many laughs

sokar lord of natu 11-11-2003, 09:23 PM personally i doubt i'll be going to heaven myself...if the lifestyle choices dont do it, then itll be the constant hertical comments and actions...
but for the purpose of the exercise i'll humour you.
no-one im afraid i never knew anyone well enough, i never met my grandparents (except for HER but we dont mention her in any nice manner these days) or my aunt, so thatd be nice but still, i never knew them or what they looked like (i have never even seen a picture...thats quite odd actually)
oh sure i often see what i beleive to be there ghosts (i beleive in these things from the scientific point) but it doesnt really change that i never knew them in any manner (never even saw a picture as i said), and thus dont really deserve to mourn.
great im depressed again ¬_¬

DancingLeaves 01-21-2004, 01:53 PM Dear John and family: Tho you are no longer with us on this earth. Please know John that your laughter and love of life will continue forever. I know one reason people like myself mourn your death so is that we lost a part of our youth. I can remember watching you on too close for comfort and all the laughter you brought into my life. When i found out bout 8 simple rules. It was like wow John is back. I would get mad at myself when i'd forget it was on but i would catch the re-run. Then to learn of your death was so hard. I cried for you, for your family and for your tv-family. What was to happen to them? I pray for their success. In their success we carry on the love of life and love of laughter created by you John. Your wife and kids will forever be included in my prayers along with those i've personally lost especially my infant daughter, Melissa. Hope that the show will not forget you in thier efforts to carry on. I know with myself that i am the memory keeper for my daughter. I hope they honor your memory as i have honored melissa's. God Bless John, His Family and 8 Simple Rules.
Honda Rider 01-22-2004, 11:36 PM Sorry to hear about your little girl. Sometimes bad things happen to good people. I hope in time your wounds heal. I'll be praying for you.
DancingLeaves 01-22-2004, 11:59 PM thank you rider you are right. she has been gone 12 yrs......time heals wounds but the scars remain for a lifetime. she is still my inspiration and hope she meets up with John and keeps him smiling
