I just finished watching 8 Simple Rules tonight and I CRIED from the beginning when Katey Segal rushes out the back door to the end where she is reading Paul's last article about insults. I thought I was just getting over John's death but tonight proved me wrong. I cried for the whole episode!! It was well put together and it depressed me!!:( I will always miss him!!:(

WE LOVE U JOHN RITTER!! R.I.P!!

Yes, I cried as well, and I still am. It's hard to believe that he's...Gone, but he will still live on in all of his fans' hearts. It was very difficult to watch the show and know that he wasn't going to be on there. 8 Simple Rules will never be the same. I thought that Henry Winkler was supposed to be on there?

Yes it was a great episode :(

I think the funeral was not that great.. I didn't like when people were trying to make jokes.. and they had no laugh track.

BUT I love all the scenes with Katie & the kids !!

Boy was I wrong about James Gardner.. he was GREAT!!!! Amazing!!

Very nice episode..

John is the best! I love that guy..

I agree. I also thought Suzanne Pleshette was really good.

I don't know why, but that scene where Cate answered the phone made me really nervous. I mean, I knew what the call was about and what was going to happen, but it still gave me goosebumps, ya know?

My favorite part has to be when Cate, Bridget, Kerry and Rory were all in the same bed, reading Paul's last article. I also love that part where Rory went to get some cereal. He opened the fridge and realized that there wasn't any milk left and that Paul was supposed to get some, but he never made it home.

After watching that episode, I felt this sense of closure. Like, wow...John really is gone. To put it mildly, it seriously sucks.

It was a great episode! So sad:(
It must have been very hard for them to do that episode, but easy at the same time.

Easy in the sense that they didn't have to struggle for tears, and they showed their true, real emotions, and you could totally see that. That's why it was so good. I usually dont cry at movies or shows, but I did on this one.

Hard in the sense that they had to relive that moment all over again. They lost a wonderful person, a friend, a person to look up to and to learn from.

The part that got me was when bridget said that the last thing she said was "I hate you" teenagers say that all the time to their parents, course I never did cause I would have gotten my mouth slapped. But its a lesson learned that you always treat your loved one's as if you'll never see them again.
Amy said, in her primetime interview, that John always treated her as if it was gonna be the last day.

I have to commend you folks for seeing this episode. I could not watch it for it's too painful. Reading all your posts bought me back to the 70's when the star of Chico and the man Mr. Freddie Prinze died while doing his show. I was heartbroken and I stopped watching it.

Once again I commend you for your strength!

Yes, it was very sad. It wouldn't have been appropriate to have laughing during the 'jokes'. I don't know why the kids were saying, "If only he didn't go to the store..." He could have collapsed anywhere. It had nothing to do with him going to the store.

Those kids were lucky that they had a father with such a good sense of humor. Even in his last column, he's joking about how bad they talked to him. The girls, especially, were disrespectful, always insulting him. No matter what he did, they were mad about it. They should feel guilty.

Maybe they thought that if he was spared of the stress of having to go to the store, he wouldn't have collapsed. What if instead of having to go all the way to the store, he just stayed home and had breakfast? Maybe those few minutes of relaxation could have saved Paul. I dunno...that was probably what the kids were thinking.

I agree, they should feel guilty about the way they talked to their father even if Paul made it seem like it was partly a positive thing.
