Well it's been 2 weeks now since my car fire and I'm still driving around a (expensive) rental.

I was away for work this weekend but my mom and dad found me a car. I went and looked at it just now when I got home from my trip and it's wonderful. I can't wait to test drive it tomorrow. They already drove it, had it checked out, talked to the dealership etc but I want to drive it too.

It's a 1998 Lumina and it's a bronze color - very pretty. The interior is immaculate and it has power windows, locks, cruise control, etc. I wanted a CD Player in it but it's got a cassette. My cousin said maybe for Christmas they would buy me one and install it for me :)

The best part (well one of them) is that it only has 38,000 miles on it!!!!! They checked the hisotry and a 67 year old woman owned it - 1 owner, low miles! They want $6995 for it and I need a$1,000 down. the downpayment will be as hard as getting the financing but I'll be so happy if I can figure something out. It's twice as big as the Neon that caught fire and it will be so much safer for us.

Wish me luck on the downpayment and everything else :)

:cheer: :cheer: :cheer: YAY!!!!!!!!!! That's ABSOLUTELY wonderful news! I am so happy to hear that. :)  I know it is going to be pretty tough not being able to get your stuff replaced (especially that cameroder (sp?)) but the important thing is, you and your daughter are OK. The whole car fire thing was REALLY freaky.

My mom was in a similar situation as you a couple of weeks ago too, except her original car didn't catch fire (she totalled it in an one-car accident, long story). She car shopped for two weeks & one of her brothers told her about this 65 year old man who had a 1991 Oldsmobile Cutlass Ciera with, get this, only 25K miles on it!!!!! This car is almost 13 years old so that averages out to only 2K miles logged every year! SWEET. It doesn't have power windows (I don't care) but everything else is powered, which I am really glad about. :D The guy asked for about $4K (since it's a '91), but I'm not sure how much he asked for a down payment. Anyway, my mom got it & except for some battery trouble on the 2nd or 3rd day my mom had it, and it runs like new. She had it checked out so it's fine now. :D

Ohh good luck!!

When I first read about your car burning it kind of scared me because I have a 2001 Dodge Stratus, but as far as I know, mine is in perfect working order.

I hope everything works out with this car. My mom has a Lumina also, and she has had it for about 5 years, and has never had any problems with it.:)

I hope you can get it!!!!!!

Good luck with everything! I hope it turns out to be the best car you ever owned!

My dad has a '97 Lumina and it works great. I think you will be happy with your new car!
