This was just used as an answer in the Seinfeld Game, I remember Jerry used it in the close talker episode, but what does it refer to?

Brian Damage 10-31-2003, 05:46 PM Hmmm, You got me. Maybe the Maestro can answer that. sinatrastar 10-31-2003, 05:53 PM I like to link it to the Dean Martin classic Thats Amore "Hearts will play tippy tippy tay .... " But that doesnt exactly meet Jerry's quote. Maestro 10-31-2003, 06:49 PM sinatrastar, that's all I could come up w/ too :D the gay (yet furry) spider song ;) [Edouard] Manet and [Claude] Monet were in fact, French impressionist (....{best frog accent}waa waa, I am impressed{/best frog accent}) but not Tippi/Tippy, I think Jer was jsut playing on words, kind of making fun of the the close talker and his desire to take Sein's parents to a museum, & that whole experience. Jer really smirked at Aaron (close talker) and treated him like a joke..... which of course he was. JDM 10-31-2003, 10:01 PM Here's a little bit of the script that the Maestro mentioned: AARON: Ah Jerry you would not believe the time we had. HELEN: Aaron is quite the tour guide. MORTY: Jerry have you ever seen any of those impressionist paintings? JERRY: Oh sure like Monet. MORTY: Don't you think he had to be uh near sighted? I mean nobody would paint like that if they could see. It's all out of focus. JERRY: Well he's from the impressionist school, you know like Monet, Manet, Tippi Tippi Dayday. HuntingtonM15 10-31-2003, 10:03 PM I have no clue but it reminds me of tippy toe :) DarwinEx 10-31-2003, 10:52 PM the gay (yet furry) spider song ?? sinatrastar 11-01-2003, 01:08 PM Lost me there as well. Maestro 11-01-2003, 01:49 PM >>>When the moon hits you eye like a big pizza pie That's amore When the world seems to shine like you've had too much wine That's amore Bells will ring ting-a-ling-a-ling, ting-a-ling-a-ling And you'll sing "Vita bella" Hearts will play tippy-tippy-tay, tippy-tippy-tay Like a gay tarantella<<< I'm just a IDIOT.... a tarantula is a big furry spider.... and a tarantella is an Itailian dance. Learn something every day around these parts :D sinatrastar 11-01-2003, 02:29 PM Ok, I get it now. ;) VachonHolloway 03-15-2006, 08:38 PM This is quite an old post, never the less I will "shed some light on this mystery" Well I was curious as well to this reference. I did some research and found this thread to be one of the only to inquire yet, no definite answer... So I did some more research, actually this has got to be one of the hardest to find seinfeld reference's for me to find. Anyway here it goes: The line can be heard in the movie "Send me no Flowers" and it's muttered by Singer/Actress "Doris Day", the line is "And a tippy tippy day day to you too, mama. No, just a whim." I'm the Wiz!! I'm the Wiz!! Seinatra 03-28-2006, 03:28 PM AWESOME Find Vachon. I thank you very much for this. You were looking at some old posts, but I am glad you did. How did you ever find this? opus 05-08-2017, 07:22 PM I'm listening to a podcast where they cover SEINFELD episode by episode. I'm up to The Raincoats, and in the discussion the hosts talk about this thread. |
