pumpkin: Just wanted to wish everybody a safe and happy halloween. Me, I'm going out of town to go to a costume party Friday night, a football game during the day Saturday, and a Haunted House Saturday night. Hope y'all have fun. I know I will.

Anyway, I guess I should go to bed now. I have to get up early tomorrow to wash my clothes, go shopping for a costume, pack my bags, and leave before noon. Talk to y'all next week.

HAPPY HALLOWEEN EVERYONE!!! Yaaaaaaaaaay!!

I'm handing out candy this year. :) But I hope the air is fresher tonight (it's been terrible these past few days because of the fire) so all the little kids can trick-or-treat safely. I've got a huge bowl of candy waiting! (And I dont want to eat it myself lol...well not ALL of it.) ;)

Be careful kids.

In school they kept warning us about some guy in a red truck thats been going around randomly shooting people with a bebe gun and paintball gun. Now everyones all paranoid. I am doing nothing until 10, then going to my friends party since his dads out of town for the weekend:)

Halloween is such a lame excuse to get drunk and do stupid things.

Well, I'm back.

Had a great time, but I'm tired as hell. Remind me not to do that again. I got to my sister's about 5 minutes before she got in from work. We went out to eat with some friends then went off to the halloween party. Actually, it was more of a block party. It was great. I hadn't seen alot of those people in a while.

Anyway, my sister and I had planned to leave early (around 12:30) so we could get to sleep at a descent hour and get SOME sleep before the A&M/KU game. Well a little before midnight a group decided to go to Yell Practice. So we went to Yell Practice. To say the least we didn't get to bed till after 2 am, up by 8 and out the door by 9:30 to get to campus and watch the beginning of march in from the quad.

So we went to the game and had fun. Yes the Ags won (WHOOP!) We were too pooped to do anything else. We got dinner and came home and watched football the rest of the night before falling asleep.

It's now 2 am and I'm about to go crawl into bed. Night y'all. Hope your Halloween was a good one.

I was curious about how Halloween started, so I did some research.

Briefly, it was started by the Irish. Halloween was both a religious holiday celebrating the life giving earth and a harvest celebration.
The holiday was first celebrated on May 13, 609 when Pope Boniface IV dedicated the Pantheon in Rome to the Virgin Mary. The date was later changed to Nov. 1 by Pope Gregory III who dedicated a chapel in honor of All Saint's in the Vatican Basilica.

Another source mentions Scotland, Ireland and Wales. Their new year began on Nov. 1, not Jan. 1. so October 31 was New Year's Eve.
The Celts believed that ghosts and goblins and witches walked the earth on Oct. 31. These spirits terrified the Celts, so people dressed up in costumes so the spirits wouldn't recognize them.
