Hello, all!

I thought this would be a cool thread to do because Halloween's tomorrow! pumpkin:

I just got back from school, and my Lit. teacher assigned my class a little group project that we presented today. We had to write a scary story and sort of act it out to the class. Whenever we do writing projects, we get grouped by what literary thing we like to do. I LOVE to write, so I always get stuck doing ALL the writing! Anyway, I wrote this story (all by myself! ), and I'll post it on the next thread. It's kind of long, so it might take up a few! Tell me what you think of it, and if you have any, post your own scary stories! :D

Later. :bye:

Our english teacher gave us an assignment where we have to use the sentence she wrote on the board and make it into a story. The sentence was "It was a dark and stormy night" It doesn't have to be scary or even Halloweenish, but mine's about a witch and it takes place on Halloween so maybe I'll post it later...when I finish it.

Here's my story...

"Two for the Price of One"

A long time ago, late one cold October night, a teenage girl named Elena Howl and her little brother, Dmitri, disrupted the world of death and unlocked the secrets of the Underworld forever.

That night, Elena and Dmitri went for a long neighborhood walk. As they strolled along, the dusk was just fading beyond the far-off trees, and glimpses of the sun’s final rays were barely visible. Elena was told to be home before sunset and to watch carefully over her brother, but she was so engaged with the crisp air and the night’s first stars, that she lost track of the time.

“Oh, no,” Elena thought as she realized her mistake. She and her brother raced back, retracing their steps, but their hurrying was pointless. They scanned the midnight streets, only to find darkness lurking about the alleyways and around every corner. It was dark…too dark to find the way back home.

Dejected, Elena searched for a resting place. “Maybe someone will be able to send us in the right direction,” Elena pondered, but didn’t bother to say out loud. After exhausting and tiresome hours of looking, the siblings came upon a small coffee shop that neither remembered seeing before. “Must be a new business,” Dmitri shrugged as he squinted at the sign above the store.

“Lou Slots’ Java Hut” the sign spelled out in bold, black letters.

“Dmitri, do me a favor and go in there for directions,” Elena said with a yawn. “I’m beat.”

The little boy peered nervously into the small window. “I don’t know, Elena,” Dmitri whispered. “Looks abandoned. I can’t see anything.”

“Oh, come on. Just go!”

Dmitri thought about arguing, but reconsidered. He knew going into the shop would be the only way to find a way back home. “Alright,” he sighed.

Dmitri walked into the coffee shop and Elena plopped herself on a nearby bench. Time quickly passed, but Elena was too tired and hungry to notice. Eventually, though, she began to worry. She walked up to the store window, but the darkness prevented her from seeing anything. She squinted hard now, desperate to find her brother in the shadows.

She tried the door, but it was mysteriously locked. Now, Elena was getting distressed. She began banging on the door, and when no one answered, she banged harder and harder and harder, flailing her arms at the entrance until all of her remaining strength was gone.

“Let my brother out!” she found herself screaming…but who was she screaming at? She didn’t know; didn’t care. She just wanted to go home.

Soon after, a man opened the door. “Excuse me, young lady, but what are you doing? I am Lou Slots, the owner of this building, and all your commotion is truly irritating.”

“Oh, sir,” Elena inquired, “Have you seen my little brother?”

“Oh, yes,” he replied. “He’s yours? We’ve seen him alright. He’ll do just fine.”

“What do you mean?” Elena asked, getting worried.

Slots cackled a menacing laugh. “Don’t you see, little girl? You’re brother is here to stay! You see, this is my own little world. The Underworld. I have a little collection going; your brother is part of it.”

“You won’t let Dmitri out?” Elena cried, frantic and panting now.

“I never give back a soul once I get it,” Slots retorted. “That is…unless…”

“Unless what?” Elena gasped, a ray of hope finally appearing.

“Might you be willing to take the place of your beloved brother? It wouldn’t make much of a difference…a soul’s a soul, right?” Slots said, more to himself than anyone else. “It’s a simple decision.”

Elena quieted down and took a deep breath. “Alright,” she finally said after a few moments of contemplation. “Just get my brother out of there!”

At that moment, Slots grabbed Elena by the arm and threw her into the shop; Dmitri was pushed out, as part of the deal. But something was different. Dmitri wasn’t intact…that is…not completely.

The legend goes that Elena Howl became yet another item in Lou Slots’ sick collection of souls. But what of Dmitri? Elena thought he escaped the Underworld that night, but not as she expected. His body was taken by our villain, and only his ghost was released and lives on to haunt those poor souls who just happen to find themselves lost on a cold October night…

BTW: Just in case you were wondering, the names "Elena Howl" and "Lou Slots" are anagrams for "Halloween" and "Lost Soul"! My friend found them!

It was mid-November on an overcast evening at the Lakefield Shopping Mall...it's off exit 7. You make a left at the 1st light & there it is. Anyway,
3 unsuspecting teenagers were in for a night that they'd remember for the rest of their natural lives. A happening that
would change forever their innocence...

They smacked their bubble gum & laughed while happily yacking on the escalator, not knowing what was just ahead of them. They got off on the 3rd floor where they then marched directly to Coconuts. They sell CDs. They gleefully whizzed past such lame excuses for music such as "Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band", "Nevermind", & "Dark Side of the Moon".
Finally, they reached the dreaded Top 40 section....where the 3 of them picked up a copy of This! (http://www.britneyspears.ch/news/2003/10okt/data/coveroldnow.jpg)

The poor kids had no idea what they were doing & were forever lost in musical oblivion..never to be seen or heard from again....

If *that* story ain't scary enough to make you download in y'pants, then I don't know what is! :)

On Halloween Night...

It was a dark and stormy night many years ago and the clock struck twelve AM. Halloween had begun. Elmira stood staring out the window. She started pacing back and forth as she got more nervous. He was supposed to be here by now.
Elmira jumped as a wart sprouted on her nose. She sighed, "He better get here soon." She only had till dawn, and from Professor Harrington's help, it never happened before. Unfortunately this year she might not be so lucky. You see, because it was now Halloween, Elmira would be fully transformed into a witch...a curse that had been put on her family years ago. If she were to be caught, who knows what people would do or say?
"Snap out of it!" She scolded herself as she was tempted to get on a broom and fly to where the professor's lab was. "Normal people don't fly," she reminded herself. Then again, maybe it wouldn't hurt. After all, she could just fly there before morning came and get the potion to be transformed back. If she wanted to be back by morning she had to hurry.
Elmira ran to the closet and pulled out the broom. She ran out the door in the pouring and hopped onto it. As soon as she took off, her clothes were transformed into a black, raggedy dress and tights with red and black stripes. She breathed a sigh of relief to find the hat didn't pop out of no where yet and flew off into the night.
You might think the professor lived in a mansion on a deserted street with nothing but dead trees surrounding it. That was Elmira's problem. It didn't. It was a small shop right in the middle of town.
She spotted it high up in the sky. As early in the morning as it was, there were still many people out on the streets. Luckily it was still dark. Still, the only choice she had was to land in the back.
It wasn't easy landing, after all she was only a witch once a year, she could never get used to it. "Ow!" She shouted louder than she meant to as she hit a garbage can and it fell over with a loud crash. She hoped no one would discover her there.
The back was a small, dark, damp alley, nothing Elmira was too fond of. Hopefully the back door would be open.
She set her broom down, twisted the nob and lucky for her it opened. The place was completely deserted. "Professer Harrington?" She called out in a voice that seemed a lot more cackly than normal. "Hello?" She called out again. There was the same response as before. Now she was especially worried. What if he already left and she missed him on the way? She had to go back.
She ran outside, but when she went to grab her broom she found it wasn't there. Frantically she searched through the piles of boxes and other objects lying around in the alley, but she was out of luck. It was gone. Now what was she supposed to do? Magic wouldn't work, not until she was fully transformed. By then it would be too late.
Now she had to walk back home. It was so far away, though. She was sure to be caught. She couldn't just stay in the alley for the rest of the day, someone was bound to walk in there sometime.
Nervous and annoyed at the same time, she sat down on a box unaware that it'd probably sink in...and it did. It didn't bother her, though, she had bigger things on her mind than a stupid box. She thought about what she could do. Then it dawned on her. How could she be so stupid? It was Halloween! She could get away with looking like a witch. It neve phased her before. She laughed as she walked out of the alley and onto the busy street. Now that she didn't have a broom to fly on, not one person looked at her strange. Why didn't the professor say anything?
Then suddenly something weird started to happen. Winds picked up really, really fast and street lights flickered and went out. Weird since the storm has stopped hours ago by now. Startled people started screaming and fleeing as Elmira stood there confused and in shock. She couldn't be the cause for all of this, could she? She started running through the streets, the sooner she got home the better...but as soon as she did, the winds picked up even more speed. Small objects went flying through the air and bolts of lighting streaked through the sky. Something bad was happening and Elmira needed to find out what now.
She started to run. Nothing could get much worse now...but trees started falling and shingles were ripped off of houses. She covered her ears, and walked as slow yet as fast as possible to the alley."Professor?" She shouted as loud as she could over the winds. It'd be hours before he'd be back.
When he did show up the winds had died down. Only when she went out in front of people would they pick up again.
"That'll teach me never to mess with Vampires again!" Was the first thing he said.
"Professor? What happened?" She jumped up surprised.
"Oh...I was bitten by a vampire, that's all. I'm back to normal now, though, so don't worry."
"I have other things to be worried about being transformed into." It was night now. She was a witch.
"Oh dear me!" The old man proclaimed, "It's Halloween night isn't it? Oh no, this isn't good. How did you get here?"
"I flew here, on my broom. I would have flown back home, if it weren't for some people who seem to think stealing brooms it pretty awesome. Why did bad things start to happen when I walked out of the alley?"
"Oh my goodness, you walked out of the alley? That's not good, not good at all." The Professor said nervously.
"But why?" Elmira asked.
"You're not aware of the dangers of being a witch, are you, Elmira? You see, their powers are very dangerous...and you only being one once a year can be even more dangerous than that. Uh...there were no hurricanes or anything, were there?" He asked suddenly.
"No, no just really bad winds and lighting. I had no idea." She said.
"Never mind that, the potion still has to be made."
It took hours just to do that. By then it would be the next day, and she had to get home. Her parents, who were out all night and probably be getting back soon, would be worried.
Elmira was just about to ask when a satisfied looking professor said, "Finished!"
Unaware of the passing time and that the clock had just struck twelve, Elmira drank the potion. Nothing happened. "What's going on? Why isn't it working?" She asked nervously.
The professor looked at the clock. "It's twelve," he said in shock, "The spells now in reverse.

END

Kinda stupid, oh well
