It is around 9:00 and everyone went home after work. Raina got ready for her date and Magda just wanted to go home and be close to her family. Jinny had another therapy appointment. Kate had to go home quickly to break the news to Louis that she has decided to go back to work. Nate waited at the restaraunt for CD to show up. CD was in Liz's apartment. She couldn't move and was barely consious. . She wasn't able to talk but she just kept thinking to herself, 'What if no one finds me? What if I die here?' She didn't want to give up but she felt there was nothing else to do. She slowly drifted off, but heard a man screaming into her ear. She tried to respond, but
nothing seemed to come out. So she decided to give into temptation and rest her mind, just for a little bit, she promised herself. A neighbor heard the gunshots and had called the police and an ambulance. The EMTs
were trying their hardest to keep CD conscious, but Liz was already dead. No hope in
saving her. They loaded CD onto a stretcher and put her into the ambulance. While they
were driving away, a cop found her wallet and noticed the shield. He saw what part of the
department she was from and immediately called Kate’s office. When no one picked up at the station, they called the operator to get the number for Kate McCafferty. When they finally got the number, they called her.
She picked up the phone. "McCafferty?"
"Hello. My name is Tom Shrew and I am with San Francisco Police Department. Do you know a Candace DeLorenzo?" He asked her.
Kate got worried. "She is one of my inspectors why?"
"We found her gunned down in a nearby apartment." He said. "I'm sorry."
“Is she okay?”
Mr. Shrew answered. “Ma’am, judging on what I saw, it’s gonna be a rough night
for that woman. She was barely conscious, and she was borderline coma. They took her to
Regional Hospital, and I am again, very sorry,”
Kate could only nod, she was so choked up and hung up the phone. She got her jacket and
phone and headed out the door. On the way out, she dialed Nate’s cell phone number; she
knew he had to know.
Nate answered on the second ring, thinking it was CD. “CD, where in the world
are you? I’ve missed you baby!”
Kate grimaced. “Um, Nate, I’m sorry, this is Kate McCafferty.”
Nate couldn’t believe what he’d just said to his captain. “Uh, Cap, that was just a joke; I call CD baby sometimes, just because...”
She cut him off. “No need to explain. Listen, there’s something wrong, and I need
you to meet me somewhere.”
“Um, ok,” Nate replied. “Where?”
“Uh, Nate, there’s been an accident. I need you to go to Regional Hospital, I’ll be waiting in the front waiting area for you.”
Nate now got really scared. "What is going on?" Nate asked frantically.
"You'll find out when you get here." Kate told him.
Nate then remembered. "But I am waiting for someone for dinner."
"Trust me. Come here." Kate said and hung up.
Nate quickly paid the bill and went to his car and drove over to Regional Hospital. When he got there, he saw Kate waiting in the waiting area with her crutch. "Captain, what's wrong? " Nate asked.
"I think we should just wait until the doctor comes out." Kate answered.
SkaterKelly2003: Nate then got frustrated. "Just tell me damnit." He paused. "I'm sorry. I am just very confused and worried about what you are going to tell me."
"That's alright." She paused. "It's CD. There was an .. accident." Kate said.
“Wha What kind of accident?” Nate stuttered out.
“She went to Liz’s apartment, something went wrong, and they both ended up with gunshot wounds.”
“Liz? As in Marshall Liz?” Nate asked as CD nodded. “Why would she shoot CD?”
“CD must have found out the truth, somehow. Liz is involved with these people escaping,”
“Oh,” Nate whispered. “Where was CD hit?”
Kate sighed. “Liz was shot straight in the heart, dead on contact. CD had a good shoot. But then she was shot in the lower abdomen. Doctor’ll be on in a sec to tell us how she is.”
Nate nodded and had a seat in the waiting area. He bowed his head into his hands and silently let out his tears. Kate noticed and sat right next to him, rubbing his back, consoling him, and crying herself. Ten minutes passed and finally the doctor came out. “Family of Candace DeLorenzo?” he asked.

Nate stood up. "I am her...cousin." Nate knew that if he didn't lie, he wouldn't be able to see her.
"Well, she took a pretty good hit but we were able stabelize her. Now she started bleeding out all over as we were operating but we were able to stop it. Unfortunately, she slipped into a coma. Now there is no way to tell when and if she will come out of it. I am so sorry." The doctor explained.
“Oh my gosh,” Nate mumbled. “Can we see her?” he asked.
“Well, visiting hours are over, but you can see her for a second.” He looked at Kate. “Are you a relative too?”
She nodded because she needed to see her,too. “Yes, I’m her mother, Polly Dankow,” Kate replied.
“Okay, well, you two can go in for five minutes, and no more than that.”
They both nodded and walked towards her room. They went inside to find blood
splattered sheets and tubes coming out everywhere. Nate gasped as he looked over her; pain was written all over face.
Nate just stared at her and started to cry. He mumbled to himself. "Why? Why did she go to Liz's and not with me?"
"What?" Kate asked.
Nate just shook his head. "Nothing."
Kate looked at him. "Does this have anything to do with her supposed to be meeting you at the Little Italian Place on Polk?" Kate raised her eye brow.
Nate was shocked. "How did...how did you know?"
"A cop from traffic heard the two of you talking about going out to dinner. He thought you two were going out on a date."
"And you two know that it is against the rules." Kate added.
Nate sighed. "Look Captain..."
Kate interrupted him. "Hey, you can always deny it. I didn't say I bleieved him." Kate winked.
Nate smiled. “Kate, can I be straight with you?”
She nodded. “Of course.”
“And it won’t affect mine and CD’s work relationship?”
She thought for a second. “No, as long as it doesn’t interfere with your work performance.”
“It won’t, I promise,” Nate replied, and Kate gave him a go ahead with her eyes.
“I love her, Cap. More than anything else in this world. The sun rises and sets on HER.”
Kate grinned. “I know that, Nate. I’ve known that since the first day the two of you met. I’m just glad that the two of you finally did something about it!”
Nate sighed. “Yeah, but now it might be too late.”
Kate shook her head. “Don’t say that, she can probably hear you! Sometimes you can still hear, even in a coma. And it’s not too late! She’ll pull through this Nate because she loves you, too!! And I know that to be true!”
Suddenly, CD woke up in her bedroom. She looked around. She had no idea where she was. Then a familiar voice came from behind the door. "Good morning sunshine." Nate said.
"Wait, where...where are we?" CD asked in confusion.
Nate gave her a funny look. "Why, we are in our bedroom you silly goose. Where else would we be?" Nate laughed. "Are you okay?"
CD was extrremely confused. "Wait, last thing I remember is being in Liz's apartement."
"Liz Rue?" Nate asked.
CD nodded. "Yes that's it."
Nate got a little bit upset. "CD, why bring that up? It happend, what, 7 years ago?" Just let it be alright?" Nate left the room. CD thought about what he just said. "What? 7 years ago?? NATE!" She yelled.

Nate was holding CD’s hand when she started jerking in the bed. Straining and what looked to be crying came from CD’s face, as he tried to hold her down..
"Cap, what’s wrong with her?" Nate worriedly asked.
"I don’t know, Nate, I’ll go get a doctor," Kate replied and hurried to the hall.A doctor soon followed Kate in and glanced at CD.
"Oh, don’t worry, that’s perfectly normal for a coma patient," he replied.
"It is?" Kate asked. "I don’t understand.
"Yes, she’s probably having a bad dream, or she’s remembering the details of what happened tonight. Either way, it’s scaring her in her subconscious. Nothing we can do about it, except hold her down like you were doing to protect her from ripping out IVs. Call me back in if you suspect anything else." And with that the doctor walked out of the room.
"That was really weird," Kate said.Nate nodded, to afraid to speak. This wasn’t his

CD that he was holding on to. It was somebody else, a scary somebody.CD went to go find Nate and she was in a house that somehow did not look like her apartment. She looked around it and finally found Nate.
"Nate, whose house is this??"Nate gave her a look.
"Ours of course. Who else's would it be?"
CD looked around. "How the hell did we afford this house?" CD asked still looking at all of the expensive furniture.
"Well, with your new job we were able to afford it." Nate answered. CD looked at him.
"My new what?"
"Job. Ya know, you just got promoted to Chief of Police.
"I did?" CD asked. "Where's Kate?"
"Kate moved, honey, remember?" Nate asked.
"What are you talking about, Nate? Kate’s still here, I just talked to her today.
"CD, she had another heart attack. A much worse one, and she moved to Arizona after she recovered to live life more relax free. Amanda’s down there with baby Kate now, although, she’s not a baby anymore.
"Dammit, Nate, stop lying to me! This is crazy!" She yelled.

CD’s body moved again, almost like she was having convulsions."I wish she’d stop this!" Nate yelled, holding her arms down as Kate grabbed her legs.
"Me, too, Nate this is really freakin me out!"******Nate kissed CD.

"Am I still crazy, baby?" he purred into her mouth.
She grinned. "Uh huh," she murmured, kissing him back. Deeper kisses traveled through their bodies, as Nate laid on top of her in their bed."Yummmmmm," she murmured. "I missed your taste," CD replied, whipping her tongue in and out of his mouth.As CD and Nate were kissing, someone came up from behind her. "Mommy. I want some candy. MOMMY!!" The child said while tugging on her shirt.

CD all of a sudden started to shake very hard uncontrolably. "DOCTOR! DOCTOR!!!" Kate called out as Nate held her down.
"Come on CD. Don't do this. I love you and I am not going to let you go." Nate said to her. Kate came in with the doctor. The doctor saw what was going on and ran to get the nurse. When they came back, the asked Nate and Kate to leave. "You must leave the room so we can find out what is wrong." The Doctor said and went over to CD. They were working on her. Nate couldnt watch through the window.

"What do you mean 'Mommy?' " CD asked frantically.Nate stopped kissing her neck and looked at her.
"What do you mean? THIS IS YOUR DAUGHTER!" CD paused.
"My, my WHAT?" she asked again. "My tubes are tied, Nate, this isn’t my daughter!"The little girl’s eyes got huge. "
Mommy, what are you talking about?
"CD!" Nate shouted. "Stop it, you’re scaring Lindsay!"
The doctor sedated CD a little more, with a bigger dosage of the medicine he’d put her on. Her movements slowed down to an occasional stir, and Nate and Kate went back in.The doctor spoke first. "I know how bad this looks, but actually, it’s better that she’s doing this. That means her body is processing ideas, and she’s thinking. These are all positive signs of 100% recovery."
Nate and Kate nodded as the doctor left them. "I’m glad he gave her something," Kate replied.
Nate nodded. "Yeah, me too. I wonder what that mind of hers is thinking right now."
Kate grinned. "She’s probably thinking of you and how sorry she is about missing dinner. "She isn't half as sorry as I am." Nate said and started to cry. "I should have realized something was wrong. Oh God, why did she go there?" Nate asked himself.
Kate walked over to him. "Don't blame yourself for this." Kate said. "This isn't your fault. The only one to blame is Liz and we don't have to worry about her anymore. CD is going to be fine. I promise."
"Wait a damn minute here." CD said then looked at Lindsay. "Could you excuse us...um..little girl." CD asked Lindsay. She ran into the backyard. CD looked at Nate. "What do you mean she is my daughter??" CD asked.
Nate was getting very pissed off. "What the hell do you mean?? She is our 4 year old daughter."
"OK listen. I don't know of any daughter or new house or new job or new husband as a matter of fact." She screamed at him.
He grabds his coat and goes outside with Lindsay. "Now what the hell are you doing?" she screamed after him. She stayed in the house. "What’s wrong with me?" she asked herself. "Maybe I’m just tired." She walked back to her bedroom and went back to sleep.
The next morning, Nate woke up CD. "Come on babe. Time to get up for work."
"What?" CD sat up and looked around. She was in that strange house again. "What the hell is going on Nate?"
Nate sat down on the bed. "Swwethart, I do not understand what is going on but please talk to me. You act as if you have never been here before and forgot you even had a daughter. She is very upset about this you know." Nate told her.

That whole night, Kate and Nate stayed by her side. She didn't fidget as much which is good. When it was around 6:00AM, the doctor came in and woke them up. "I am sorry to disturb you but I need to talk to you Miss for a moment." The doctor said.
Kate followed him out to the hallway. "What's going on?"
"There is a woman outside claiming to be Miss DeLorenzo's mother. You told us you were her mother. What is going on?" The doctor asked.
“****,” Kate muttered. “Um, doctor, I am very sorry, but I have been a mother to CD for almost 15 years, and I’m more of a mother than SHE ever was.” Kate pointed at Polly.
“What the hell does that mean?” Polly shouted. “You didn’t even have the
decency to call me and tell me that my only daughter had been shot? Then you act like you’re me?!”
Kate shook her head. “No, I didn’t ACT like you, dear. If I’d have done that, I would’ve been kicked out for being such a bitch!” Kate shouted.
“Ladies, please, if you don’t quiet down, both of you will be asked to leave. Now,
ma’am,” the doctor looked at Kate, “can I trust you to be civil and explain the situation to Ms. Dankow?”
Kate nodded. “Yes, I’ll tell her because I know that CD would probably want me to.”
“Thank you,” the doctor replied. “And ma’am? You’re not allowed back in till
further notice because you’re not family.”
"But..please? I need to be there with her. She is like a daughter to me. Please?" Kate begged.
The doctor shook his head. "I am sorry ma'am but visi--"
Kate got pissed off and pulled out her badge. "Alright look here buddy. I tried to be nice but I am CAPTAIN Kate McCafferty and if you don't let me in, you are going to be sorry. Very sorry." Kate shouted.
The doctor stepped out of here way. He was very scared. "Go right ahead. I'm sorry." The doctor said.
Kate wanted to take this to advantage.
"Oh and we will be needing some coffe and muffins in here." Kate said.
"Right away." The doctor said.
Kate laughed. "Also, I think it may be hazardous to CD's health if any mother besides me is in there with her."
The doctor looked at Polly. "I am sorry but more than two visitors could danger her condition. I will call you and let you know how she is doing."
"What?! I am family. She's NOT!" Polly screamed.
The doctor leaned into her. "But you are not in the police force.
She can have my job if I don't her in."
"Fine. Let the bitch die. See if I care." Polly said and stormed out.
Kate shook her head. “I’m sorry about all of that. I couldn’t have that woman around her; I’m pretty sure CD would’ve given up if she’d heard that voice in her room.”
The doctor laughed. “Well, I shouldn’t be saying this, but I’d probably throw in the towel, too.”
Kate nodded. “Yeah,” she replied and then paused. “So, can I back in there now?”
“Yes, Captain McCafferty, you can. Just don’t pull anymore secret identities. If you need something, just whip out that badge, and I’m sure you’ll get attention!” He smiled.
“Okay, thanks,” Kate replied and walked back into CD’s room.

Hey. We posted more tonight and I had better tell you to get your tissues ready because I was crying while reading the end. But then again, I always cry. Oh well, enjoy!

When Kate got back into the room, Nate got up from his chair. "What was that all about?" He asked.
"Polly is here." Kate said.
Nate looked very confused. "Polly? What was she doing here? Uh oh. You said you were her mother though. Now what are we going to do??" Nate got worried.
"Don't worry. I took care of it." Kate said and winked.
Nate looked at her. "And how did you do that?"
Kate grinned. "I am the Captain. All I had to do was pull out my badge!"
Nate laughed. "You’re too much, Cap."
She nodded. "Yeah, sometimes, but I do what I have to do."

CD looked at Nate. "How can I talk to her if I have no clue who she is?"
He sighed. "CD, what the hell’s your problem? You gave BIRTH to Lindsay, but you don’t REMEMBER her? Are you on drugs or something?"
"No I am not on drugs. I don't remember having a dughter or a husband. I don't know what is going on. The last thing I remember is being shot. Honest." CD started to sob.

Jinny and Magda showed up at the hospital. "Hey. How is she?" Jinny asked.
"Not too good." Nate had tears in his eyes. "She's in a coma." He ran over to Jinny and hugged her while he started to cry.
"She is stable but the doctors they just--they just don't know." Kate then looked at CD.
Magda walked over to CD as well.
"What do you think is going on in her head right now?" Magda said.
Kate sighed. "I don't know."

“Honey, it’s okay,” Nate murmured and grabbed her into a bearhug. He rubbed
her back and consoled her. “Everything will be alright."
She shook her head. “No, it won’t, Nate! I yelled at a girl, who’s my DAUGHTER! And I can’t even remember you being my husband, but I know I always wanted that to happen.”
He grinned. “Well, at least you remembered the best part.”
She smiled. “So what should I do, honey? Ya know, to remember my family?”

"Well, how about I show you some pictures?" Nate went to go get a box. "Here is our wedding album. See? Here we are cutting the cake. And here we are again with you throwing the bouquet. Does any of this bring back anything?" Nate asked.

Jinny walked over to Kate and Magda. "What exactly happend?" She asked.
"She went to Liz Rue's apartment and they got into some kind of argument. Liz pulled out a gun and CD pulled out hers. CD shot Liz and Liz shot CD." Kate explained.
Magda was shocked. "What made her go over there so late?" Magda asked. Nate had a look of guilt all over his face.
“No, I’m sorry, this doesn’t look familiar at all. Who was in the wedding party?” CD asked.
“Let’s see. Jinny was your maid of honor, Jack was my best man, and you mom made a REALLY big scene at the reception!” Nate laughed. “Kate tried to give us this awesome wedding present, and of course, since Kate loves us, it was better than whatever your mom got us. Well, Polly got really pissed and just started screaming at Kate! Kate wouldn’t stand for it, but didn’t want to make a scene, so she was quietly explaining to
her that it wasn’t a contest. Polly didn’t want to be quiet, so she became even louder! So you,” he kissed her forehead, “the lovely person you are, started shouting at your mom and she ended up storming out of there! Ha, it was great! You surely remember that?!”
CD frowned. "I am sorry but I don't." She ran into the bathroom crying and slammed the door. Nate thought he should leave her alone so he went to talk to Lindsay.

Tears start rolling down CD's face. Everyone got really worried. "Oh God. What is going on now??" Nate asked.
The doctor overheard and came in. "She is just in her own little world and whatever is happening is making her very upset. It happens all of the time. Nothing to worry about. Why don't you try talking to her. She can hear everything you say."
Kate then pulled up a chair and was thinking about what to say to CD. “CD, honey, I wonder if you can hear a word that I’m sayin,” she replied as she picked up CD’s hand. “You’ve got a lot of people praying for you, and your friends are here. I even
scared away your mom, honey! I thought you’d like that!” She smiled, hoping CD could somehow sense the smile and stop crying. “Oh, CD, please stop crying! We don’t know we can do for you!”
She looked to Nate and he sat down on the bed. “Hey, baby, it’s me. Nate. I’m here, and Jinny’s here, and Magda’s here. Raina’s on here way. We’re all in this room because we’re all pulling for ya.” He paused and looked at the others. He didn’t think
everyone should know yet, but then again, he didn’t care, as long as she knew.
“I got worried last night, honey, when you didn’t show up for dinner with me. I was afraid that you’d decided against me, that you could find someone better. I love you, CD, with all of my heart, and I know I should wait till you’re looking at me to say that, but I want you to know now. I’ll tell you again when you’re all better and looking at me. I can’t wait to gaze into those
beautiful pools of blue soon.” Nate stopped, for he couldn’t go on because he was choked up. Tears were streaming down his face, along with everyone else, even Jinny.

Here is more for everyone. Since last time was a little sad, *sniff* this one has a little bit of comedy so enjoy! :)
****************************************************Nate tried to explain to Lindsay what was wrong with CD but she was too young to understand. A few hours had past and CD was still in the bathroom. Nate went up to check on her.
"CD, honey, dinner is ready." Nate said to her.
CD was still crying. "What is the point? I probably don't remember what dinner is anyway." She cried harder.
"Come on CD don't do this. Lindsay is worried about you and she wants to see you. The least you can do is come down to dinner and talk to her." Nate said as he went downstairs to the kitchen. CD realized he is right. She shouldn't blame her daughter that she does not remember. So she went down to the kitchen. Lindsay just looked up at her with big blue eyes. CD tried to wipe her tears away. "Sorry I am late." CD said.
Lindsay looked at her. "That's ok Mommy. You scared me before. Did I do something wrong?" She said.
Nate just looked at CD.
CD shook her head no. “Of course not, baby, Mommy’s just having a strange day.”
Lindsay nodded. “Good, I don’t like when you’re mad at me.”
“I don’t like it either, honey,” CD replied softly.

CD’s body lied soundly on the hospital bed as Jinny and Magda stared at Nate with their
jaws dragging the ground. Kate had pretty much already figured out what Nate had just
proclaimed.
“Uh, Nate, ya got something you’d like to tell us?” Jinny asked.
“Yeah, how long has THIS been going on?” Magda questioned. “Raina didn’t even tell us yet!”
Nate lifted his head. "She doesn't know. Not even CD knew until a few days ago." He got up. "We both realized when Lily and I broke up that we were meant for eachother."
"Wait, so that is why my sister's heart is broken???" Magda asked. "You two broke up?"

After dinner, CD went up with Lindsay and tucked her in. When she was in bed, CD went to her room to find Nate has put candles all around the bed and he was lighting them.
"Nate, what are you doing?" CD asked.
Nate looked at her. "Well, I figured a great night of passion would help jog your memory." He got up and walked towards her. "Come here. Have some wine." He poured her a glass.
CD was getting nervous. She had remembered that she had never actually 'had' him before. Yes, they were a few kisses but they had never gotten together before.
“Nate, but we’ve never...”
“CD!” Nate shouted, starting to get angry. “We’ve had sex, how do you think we have a daughter?!!”
CD shook her head. “But I don’t remember,” she whispered, looking down to the ground. “I’m scared, Nate,” she murmured, barely even audible.
He grabbed a hold of hands and squeezed. “Baby, I know that this is really weird, whatever you’re going through, and I think that this would DEFINITELY shake your memory back.” He grinned and kissed her sweetly on the lips and got serious. “We don’t
have to, if you don’t wanna.”
She smiled, knowing that he was being sincere, and he’d never get her into bed if he wasn’t telling her the truth. “No, I want to, honey. I want to remember you like this, and I want to remember what it’s like between us.”
"Well then come on over here." Nate said pulling her to the bed and kissing her passionately.
"Oh Nate, I want to remember so badly." CD said while kissing him.
Nate smiled at her. "You will after tonight."

"Yes I broke up with Lily. I thought you knew?" Nate said.
Magda got mad. "No I didn't. I thought my sister was the one you wanted? She did everything for you and you dumped her?? Oh Nate how could you have done that??"
"Mag, CD is in a coma. Can you two talk about this some other time??

"Yeah guys stop it. We are all on the same team here." Kate said.
Magda got really pissed. "Not anymore." She said as she walked out.

Nate laid CD onto the bed, kissing her passionately, and carefully removing her
clothes. He didn’t want to go too quickly and scare the hell out of her, so he took his time.
She kissed back at him, wanting him more than life itself, and not knowing why.
His mouth went straight to the breast, and it camped out there for several minutes. She
moaned out in pleasure, wanting more. She moved towards his pants, briskly ripping them off. He grinned at her pace and slightly took it to the next level. He moved his hands down south, slowing massaging her inner thighs.
“Ohhhhhhhhhh,” was all CD could get out. She moved her hands down to him and his manhood. She softly stroked him through the fabric, turning him on and making him scream out in pleasure.
She smiled, though she didn’t quite remember, but she wanted to give Nate all she had. “Take me, baby,” she murmured against his neck.
“Don’t have to tell me twice,” he mumbled, entering her quickly and painfree.
“Oh, please,” CD shouted out, arching her back.
They moved in sync with each other, both coming quicky. After they were done, they both fell exhausted onto one another, CD sinking low under Nate.
“Oh my gosh,” she mumbled.

"What the hell is her problem?" Nate asked Kate.
Kate shrugged. "I don't know. Her emotions have been all screwed up lately."
Jinny got Kate and Nate's attention. "Hey guys look at CD!"
"What???" Nate asked.
Jinny looked strange. "Look at her face. "She appears to be smiling...quite a lot."
"Yeah she is. I only smile like that when I am...nevermind." Kate said grinning.
"CAPTAIN!! EWW! Did not need that mental picture!!" Jinny said while slapping her arm.
Kate laughed. “Jin, I meant READING! I only smile like that after I’m done reading a good book!”
“Yeah right, Cap!” Jinny exclaimed. “Only if that book’s a porno!!”
Nate and Jinny laughed as Kate grinned. “Ha ha, okay, different subject,” Kate replied.
They nodded. “So, whatever she’s thinking about, it sure is making her a happy camper!”
Jinny grinned. “Wonder WHO she’s thinking about,” Jinny replied and looked at Nate.
He grinned. “I’m sure she’s just having a good dream,” Nate said.
“Yeah, a good SEX dream!” Kate laughed.
“You two are sick!” Nate replied, although he was hoping she was thinking of him.
“So, Candace, baby, ya remember anything?” Nate asked her, kissing her throat intimately.

"Uh Nate, we need to talk." CD said pulling him away from her neck. "I am sorry but I don't remember anything."
Nate got off of the bed. "CD, I have been patient enough. I can't do this anymore." Nate said as he stormed out of the room. CD laid on the bed and started crying. All of a sudden, someone put their hand on her shoulder.

After a little while, Kate had to go home and change her clothes. "Nate, why don't you go home and get some sleep?" Kate asked.
"No. I am not leaving her."

"Well at least go home to get changed. You can come right back." Kate said.
Nate shook his head. "No, I--"
Kate cut him off. "It is an order." Kate said sternly.
Jinny put her hand on his shoulder. "I will keep an eye on her and let you know if there is any change."
"Ok." He leaned over and kissed CD's forehead. "I will be back soon." He left with Kate. Jinny pulled up a chair and sat next to CD. She put CD's hair behind her ears and held her hand.

CD looked up when she felt someone's hand. It was Jinny.
"Jinny! Oh I am glad to see you." CD said while hugging her.
Jinny hugged back. "I am glad to see you too."
"Wait...how did you get in my room?"
Jinny smiled. "I am not in your room. I am in your mind. In your mind, you were crying for help and I was brought here. I am here tot ell you why no one knows what you are talking about."
CD smiled. "Oh thank goodness. What is going on?" She asked.
"Well, you were shot in Liz Rue's apartment." She said.
"I know that but that was the last thing I remember happening to me." CD said.
Jinny laughed. "Good because that IS the last thing that happend to you. You are now at the hospital in a coma from what happend." Jinny explained.
"In a coma??" She said scared. "Am I...will I be alright?" She asked.
"That depends on you. How badly do you want to pull through to get out of this nightmare?" Jinny asked CD.
CD pleaded. "I want to get out of here really bad. I want to be back with all of you."
"Well, you have to wish really hard. If you wish hard enough and want it badly enough, you will go back. But if you just give up, you will be stuck here forever." She said.
CD nodded. "I understand."
"Good." She looked at her watch. "I got to get going. I have cases to work on."
"Wait!" CD asked.
Jinny turned around. "Yes?"
CD blushed. "Who is in the hospital with me?"
She smiled. "We all are there with you. But yes, Nate is there right next to you holding your hand."
CD smiled really big. "Thanks Jin."
"You're welcome." Jinny said as she left the bedroom. CD quickly thought really hard. 'I want to go home. Please take me home. I will be so good. I will go to church every Sunday and I will be sweet to everyone, even my mother. Just, let me go home.'

Jinny started talking to her. "Oh CD, I only hope you can hear me. We all miss you here. Finally when I thought I was getting my life back together, Liz had to go and do this." She wiped a tear away. "Just come back to us. Please come back to us." There was a knock at the door. It was Nate.
"I am sorry. I didn't mean to disturb you." He said.
Jinny wiped her eyes. "You didn't. We were just having a little girl chat." She giggled. "You are back soon."
"Yeah, I went to the clothing store down the street. I felt going home would have taken too long." He said. "I had a strange feeling something was going to happen to her."
"Well, nothing did. She is still the same as when you le---oh my gosh. Nate! She squeezed my hand." Jinny said.
Nate ran over to the bed. "She did??"
"Yes and look. She is trying to open her eyes."
"Oh my God, she is coming out!" Nate screamed.
CD moaned a little bit. "Nate? Jinny?"

“Yes, honey, it’s us!” Nate exclaimed.
“Where am I?” CD asked.
“You’re in the hospital, CD. You were shot,” Jinny paused. “Do you remember?”
She nodded. “Yeah, where’s Lindsay, Nate?” CD asked. “Is she at the baby sitter’s or something? I need to apologize to her again.”
Nate looked at CD quizzically. “CD, honey, what are you talking about?”
“Our baby girl,” CD simply stated. “Well, she’s not a baby anymore,but she’ll always be my baby.”
“Nate, did you forget to tell us something?” Jinny joked.
He smiled. “No, not that I know of.” He turned to CD. “Baby, we don’t have a child together. We haven’t even had sex yet,” he replied and blushed, for Jinny had heard that, too.
Jinny grinned when she saw Nate blush. “Yeah, CD, I’m going to have to agree with him. You guys don’t have a child.”
“Yes we do!” CD exclaimed. “I finally remember! Now Lindsay won’t be scared of me!”
She tried to make a point. “And Nate, we’ve had sex before! Hello, remember you wanted to refresh my memory? You done things to me, honey, that I never thought....”
“CD!” Nate shouted to stop her. “I don’t know what kind of dreams you were having, but you’ve just came out of a COMA! We don’t have a family together, and unfortunately, we’ve never had sex.”
Jinny understood. "Oh so that's why you had such a happy look on your face." She she nugged his arm. "You little devil you. You must be better than I thought." She smiled.
"Not now Jinny. CD, we do not have a child." Nate tried to explain once again.
CD started to form tears in her eyes. "Yes we do! Her name is Lindsay and she loves me and you. That is why I need you to go find her. I have to tell her I love her." She said.
"OK I will go and try to find her. Nate, come help me look for Lindsay."
Jinny said as she was pulling Nate out of the room. "Let's just go find the doctor and he will know what to do." Jinny explained.
"What is going on?" Nate asked. "Why would she think we were married and have a child?"
Jinny smiled. "Maybe she was dreaming of it because that is what she wants."
Just then, the doctor was circling the corner.
"Doctor!!" Nate shouted as he ran over to him. "She woke up."
The doctor smiled. "I will be right in there to make sure she is as good as new." He said.
When the doctor came in, CD didn't reconize him but that is understandable. "How are you feeling Candace?"
"I will be fine as soon as someone brings me my daughter!!" She shouted.
The doctor had a very confused look on his face. "Your daughter? I didn't know you had a daughter."
"Oh I do! Her name is Lindsay and she is so pretty." As CD kept talking about Lindsay, Nate motioned for the doctor to step outside so they can talk.
“Um, excuse me just a second, Candace, I’ll be right back,” the doctor explained.
“Yeah, I need to go get a cup of coffee. Jin, you want anything?” Nate asked.
“Oh, no, you go ahead,” she replied.
Nate and the doctor went out of the room. “A daughter?” the doctor questioned.
Nate shook his head. “I don’t know where she got that, Doc. She was in the coma and smiling, and the next thing I know she’s yelling at me because I’m not taking care of our daughter, Lindsay! I don’t even think she KNOWS anyone named Lindsay, and yes, I’m positive that she doesn’t have a daughter.”
The doctor nodded. “Okay, I understand. This is perfectly logical. She was probably in the middle of a dream when she came out of the coma, and something or someone in the room stimulated the dream once she woke up.”
“Ok, but how can we fix it?” Nate asked.

Nate nodded. “Okay, um, I know I shouldn’t be worried about this, but can I do some new things, too?”
“Like what?” the doctor asked.
“Um,” Nate blushed, “we had just started a relationship, besides a working one. We hadn’t even technically been out on a date.”
The doctor grinned. “Mr. Basso, I think that would be a wonderful
idea! Explain it to her, tell her that you two have just started dating, and take her out on a date. That might
flood her memory with remembrance!”
Nate smiled. “Okay, I think I’ll tell her then.”
"That will be great." The Doctor told her. "I am not sure when I will be able to release her from the hospital though."
Nate thought for a minute. "Hey Doctor, can I fix up her room and have our date there tonight?"
"I don't see why not. That is a terrific idea!" He said.

Nate went back to the room. "Jinny, could I see you for a minute?"
"Sure. CD, I will be right back." She assured CD.
CD nodded. "Oh Nate, did you find Lindsay yet??"
"No not yet. We are looking now." He told her.
CD got upset. "It doesn't take this long to find a 6 year old girl, especially if she is your daughter!"
Nate shook his head and left the room with Jinny.

“What’s going on?” Jinny asked, concerned.
Nate explained to her what the doctor said. “And so I need you to help me out. Will you keep her company while I go get some things ready?”
Jinny nodded. “Yeah, but what do I say about Lindsay? I mean, should I lie or tell her that there IS no daughter between the two of you?”
Nate sighed. “Tell her that Lindsay is part of a dream that maybe Nate can someday fulfill, but for now, it’s not true.”
Jinny grinned. “Oh yeah, that’s good. She’ll believe that because she’ll want to help you complete that task, sounds like from her dream.”
Nate blushed. “Jinny...”
She laughed. “Just kidding, loverboy.” She opened the door to CD’s room. “Okay, so go say good bye to her, while I go get some coffee, and then you go get your supplies.”
Nate nodded and gave her a quick hug. “Thanks, Jin, you’re the best.”
She grinned and walked towards the cafeteria, turning back to get the last word. “Duh, tell me something I don’t know.”
He laughed and shook his head, walking into CD’s room. “Hey, baby, I’m going out for a little bit. I have to pick up some things.” He kissed her quickly.
“Where are you going?” she asked. “Can I come, too?”
He shook his head. “No, I’m sorry, sweety, but I’ll be back as soon as I possibly can.” He paused, not knowing if he should go ahead and say it. He decided to. “I love you, CD,” he
whispered and kissed her again. “I love you very much.” And, before she could reply, he was out the door.
