Okay. :grr:

It just recently started doing this to me, and it's only with my image files, nothing else. When I reboot, the image file icons are normal, but then after a while it changes to a different icon...Currently, about half the image icons I have has the My Briefcase icons on them...When I click on them, they open up like they normally should, which is no problem.

Meangya...I have no idea what is causing it. They still work like normal, but it randomly changes to another program's icon after a while...It doesn't interfere with any other programs, but it's bugging me. Here's a screenshot to show you what I mean. Some of the image files have the PSP7 icon on them...that is the default image viewer program I use to view my images, in PSP. The rest have the My Briefcase icon on it. The other night, some of my image files had the HP scanner icon on it with a slash through it. :eek:

HELP - how do I make it so the image icons stop changing on me all the time?! :grr:

Oh, I just remembered - whatever my image icon changes to (like right now it has the My Briefcase icon), that program's icon changes too...currently, the My Briefcase icon has the PSP7 icon on it, but it would still open up normally. :confused:

Tip: If your desktop Icons keep changing to incorrect Icons after you have been in Windows for awhile try this. Add the value and value name "Max Cached Icons"="8000" to the key HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\explorer, then reboot and your Icons should remain on your desktop unchanged.

Tip: If you would like to see your BMP file without opening them you can change their icons to their bitmaps. To do this go to the start button and then to run, type RegEdit and then click OK. In the Registry go to HKEY_CLASSES_ROOTS\Paint.Picture\DefaultIcon and double click the word default in the right side window. Replace the entire line in the box that appears with %1
