As hard as that may be to believe, it happens to be true. When NBC decided to make an american version of Steptoe & Son, the original idea was to make the cast white just like the british version. Heres a trivia question, Can you name the well known white actor that almost became Fred G. Sanford before the producers decided to cast black actors in the series?

P.S. Good Luck:)

Ok, think dramatic actor and his daughter's name sounds like something you see your reflection in.

C'mon Glenny, we've wasted a whole page. I can't think of anymore clues all you gotta do is fill in the blank spaces in his name.

It would be easier if i wouldnt have to unscramble. Any more hints?

You don't have to unscramble, the letters are in order. Heres the rest of the letters: I O V You've come this far, might as well finish it.

S _ R _ _ N _

You have got to be kidding me. Paul Sorvino was considered. Oh boy!! That would have been a disaster. Ugh!! Also, to me Mira Sorvino is ok ...but i would not put her in the babe catagory though.

Finally:wave: Yes indeed, Paul Sorvino was the first choice and we can only be thankful it never happened. He's a fine actor but not for that role. Can't believe we disagree about Mira but to each his own.

I liked him in the movie "Oh God" . Mira is ok. She got famous for winning a Oscar but has'nt really ever done anything else noteworthy. That "Romy and Michelle" movie she did with that airhead from "Friends" was dismal.

I can't stand Friends, Are you talking about Lisa Kudrow?

Yup. Lisa Kudrow. The airhead blonde.

Actually, in the first attempt by Norman Lear to adapt "Steptoe and Son" for American audiences, he cast BERNARD HUGHES ("Doc" from the late 70s sitcom of the same name) as the father...Paul Sorvino was considered as the son.

You are correct Mr. Griffin, it had been so long since I read about it that I had completely forgotten about Bernard Hughes. Thanks very much for the correction.

I guess Barnard Hughes would not have been a bad choice.
